Happy Hour Roundup

* White House press sec Robert Gibbs is declining to say whether President Obama is satisfied with the quality of the intelligence he’s getting from Iran. Not encouraging.

* Gibbs doesn’t think that Obama needs to “storm the country” to sell health care reform, but Obama will be selling it out there “on the road.”

* Mike Tomasky says Obama better start “banging some heads in Congress” if he wants a good health care bill.

* Weirder and weirder. Commenting today on Governor Mark Sanford’s mysterious disappearance, Sanford’s own wife said she didn’t know where he’s been for several days — and that she wasn’t concerned!

* Marcio Rubio, the conservative candidate in the Florida GOP Senate primary, thinks that the Iranian electoral crisis might have been averted if only Iran had a Second Amendment.

* Chris Cillizza says Obama wants a fight with Dick Cheney about torture. The same, however, can’t be said of other Dems, who have failed to substantively challenge Cheney’s arguments and have basically let him reframe the debate on his own terms.

* Conservative bloggers are still attacking Michelle Obama. Now she’s the “First Crony.”

* Digby has an interesting take on another dimension to the whole Larry Sabato story that I’d totally missed.

* Chuck Schumer is getting some plaudits for standing up for the public insurance option.

* And it looks like some English-only advocates could use some English lessons themselves.

Greg – Haven’t had that problem since the day I was bitching about it.

(sorry it took me awhile to answer – I have company here in Taos.)

The Gov Sanford thing just too weird. Isn’t he supposed to be another hope for them for 2012? WTF? Wonder if the Ensign thing is forcing all the “players” to implode. Or the poor guy could just be having a mental illness issue.

Cue Sarah Palin, rubbing her hands together.

That Tomasky piece is excellent (as usual). Thanks, Greg, I’d missed it.

I got the posting too fast message earlier this morning but that was it.

As for Sanford I hope he IS having a mental breakdown or that he was caught on a coke binge with a hooker. Thats what he gets for ******** the less fortunate in his own state.

On Sotomayor and the further dismal decline of RNC popularity with Latinos… Josh has a very bright piece up this (”coalitional feat”!) http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/2009/06/tpm_alum_greg_sargent_has.php?ref=fpblg

Hey, sg…up until last night, I’d wondered if perhaps you and Sanford might have been away together. Nice to see you.
