Dems Launch New Robocalls Hitting House Republicans For Opposing “Largest Tax Cut In History”

The political war over the stimulus package is just beginning, and here’s the latest:

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, headed by Chris Van Hollen, will start pumping new robocalls later today into the districts of a dozen House Republicans, attacking them for voting against the economic recovery plan and reminding voters that it was supported by business groups.

The calls also hit the Republicans for voting “against the largest tax cut in history,” a reference to the tax cuts in the bill that the GOPers opposed, and an early clue to an attack line the Dems will be using in the run-up to the 2010 midterm elections.

Here’s a transcript of the ( Pete Sessions version) of the robocall that will run in the twelve districts:

Hello, I’m calling on behalf of House Democrats with an important message about the economy.

Did you know Congressman Pete Sessions voted against President Obama’s economic recovery plan, endorsed by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce? Sessions’s empty rhetoric can’t hide that he voted to raise the AMT tax on 22 million middle class Americans and against the largest tax cut in history.

Call Sessions at XXX-XXX-XXXX to ask why he voted to raise taxes on middle class families.

A list of the dozen Republicans being targeted is here, an early sign of which members are seen by national Dems as vulnerable.

Please tell me this is a parody. If Dems are using the AMT fix to court “middle class Americans”, I need to look for a new party.

Lot’s of stories about these robos via Press Release.

No reports of these actually going into districts with audio.

Sounds like a press release strategy followed up my 0 actual robos.

    Where are the audio files?

    Ask the DCCC for one.

I live in that bum Sessions’s district (I know–it’s embarrassing). And believe me, he is a bum indeed. But I just don’t see him as vulnerable. Though, of course, I’d love to be mistaken.

    O I like this.

I’m sorry you are in Sessions’ district, FarinataX. I’m in Jeb Hensarlings’, so I feel ya – he’s a nitwit, too.

If I were a republican I would hang up after *House Democrats*. I’m a Dem and even I might hang up. I hate robocalls.

A Conservative listener calls a Progressive TV show to discuss the stimulus package, hilarity ensues:
