AFSCME Chief Hits GOP Leader Eric Cantor Over Labor Goon Vid
Looks like the major unions are going to try to make a big issue out of that video I posted below depicting AFSCME union members as goons.
As I said below, the labor goon vid had been sent over to me by GOP House leader Eric Cantor’s office as a response to this morning’s labor-backed ad blitz targeting GOP leaders on the stimulus package. Cantor’s spokesperson had said it was a joke.
But that’s not good enough for AFSCME chief Gerald McEntee, whose office sends me this statement:
“Eric Cantor may think the greatest economic crisis in seventy years is a joke, but we don’t. He should talk to the people in Virginia who are losing their jobs, health care and homes.”
As I noted below, Brad Woodhouse, the head of Americans United For Change, which is also behind the anti-GOP ads, also is calling on Cantor to apologize.
The Cantor spokesperson who originally sent over the vid, Brad Dayspring, says it was a joke. “It was clearly a lighthearted response to an actual attack,” he says.

I’m sure that Cantor’s office will apologize but too bad if they do. Irony abounds. Gerald McEntee himself has acknowledged that members of his own union are racist. Cantor himself has been the subject of what many would call anti-semitic attacks from the DNC.

Hey Greg! Please respond:
“Obama and his aides want to attack Republicans while maintaining a false front of bipartisanship, a calculated and cynical attack mode that completely belies Obama’s platitudes about getting past partisan differences . . . Now it looks as though the unions and their 527s take marching orders from Rahm Emanuel.”
The poster above would be more credible it they didn’t link to hotair.
Hotair? Really? A link to that is your evidence?
what’s that a reference to, sbj?
That video was first posted 3/2007. Getting a new life.
Love this comment: This is a conservatives wet dream. Unfortunately for them, it is sooooo unreal. There are just two kinds of Republicans: millionaires and fools.
millionaires and fools
.
I’m not sure you need two categories, though I’ll concede there are some rich Republicans.
“what’s that a reference to, sbj?”
The Obama admin coordinating with 527s to attack the GOP.

Something posted on Hot Air, of course. Why would sbj ever need to read anything else?
the dark one:
I’m here, too, aren’t I? (maroon)
Since it’s OK for stereotypes to now be used as political attack as long as it’s “a joke”, can someone call Eric Cantor’s office and ask him when he stopped f*cking his sister?
Ha. Ha. I’m just joking.
I actually meant, can someone call his office and ask him when he stopped giving anal to James Dobson?
Wait, no, just joking again.
The posters here requesting responses to the blithering, inbred, moronic nonsense at HotAir is the real joke.
See, I’m just being funny.
Now back to listening to my new song, “Eric the Magic Cracker”.
My dear Honorable Congressman Cantor:
Nine deaths from salmonella-tainted peanut products? What a nice departing ‘fare-thee-ill’ from Herr Bush and his merry band of Republican evildoers. But then, I suppose it’s really just the latest manifestation of ‘Reaganomics’ .
Keep up the good work!
Your devoted supplicant,
John Lewis-Dickerson (Atlanta)
Everytime I see Sen. Eric Cantor on tv he has a grin on his face. Not so the 23 people in my office who lost their jobs and health care last wednesday Feb. 4th. in Fredericksburg, VA. It’s no joke.
@John Lewis-Dickerson,
Oh yeah, those eeevil Republicans are responsible for everything from AIDS to your erectile dysfunction.
That’s alright. We have at least the next 4 years to treat your Jesus Christ Obamessiah with as much acrid disrespect as you gave George Bush. Matter of fact, this newly anointed moron will make Jimmy Carter and Bubba Clinton’s disastrous domestic policies, foreign policy debacles, and malicious pursuit to eviscerate the military, pale in comparison.
Welcome to the Socialist States of America. Just don’t expect the rest of us to follow suit.
@Linda:
Cantor didn’t fire those 23 people; your office did. So what’s your point?
When I called Eric Cantor’s office 2/11/09, they said he knew nothing about the video; however, he was on TV apologizing for the use of the video. Go figure!
Our Congressmen have forgotten how to be statesmen. There is no honor anymore.
Democrats are doo-doo-heads.
See? I can do it too, *****.
AFSCME’s ad against Eric Canor is nothing but lies and propoganda. Midiway through his tele-town -meeting on Tuesday night he took a poll of his own constituents that showed 82% or 84% are not in favor of the “stimulus bill”. Part of what makes this a great a free nation is that we don’t have to go along with everything we’re told. We think for ourselves. (at least , for now).

Thanks To Grover Norquist, Salmonella Poisoning Our Food Supply Is A Feature, Not A Bug
By: Kirk James Murphy, M.D. Saturday February 14, 2009
Yummy!
When we have the USDA and FDA, why are we still dying from salmonella and risking brain damage from the mercury in foods known to be contaminated before they ever left the factory? How were industrial food megacorps and the Peanut Corporation of America able to get foodstuffs they knew were tainted past Federal food safety agencies?…..
…..The Bushies starved FDA
Since 2003, the number of FDA field staff dropped by 12 percent, and between 2003 and 2006 federal inspections dropped by 47 percent. These declines in inspectors and inspections can be traced to an ongoing funding shortfall in the food safety program estimated in the hundreds of millions of dollars……

Why does not Rep. Cantor use his time and money to help the millions of his constituents harmed from 8 years of George W. Bush rule, instead of attacking unions, who are helping the same people attain a decent standard of living? Why did he rail against Obama’s stimulus package, while the bank where his wife is a high level officer got millions in stimulus money? Isn’t this a blatant conflict of interest?
