Rahm’s “Retarded” Crack To Become Issue In CT GOP Senate Primary

Yeesh. The controversy over Rahm Emanuel’s crack that liberal activists are “retarded” just won’t die. The latest: It’s about to become an issue in the Connecticut GOP Senate primary.

One of the two candidates, Linda McMahon, was the former CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment — and it turns out that there was a mentally handicapped WWE wrestling character who was savagely beaten in a steel cage and worse. And in light of the flap over Rahm, I’m told that McMahon’s opponent, Rob Simmons, is going to demand that she account for it.

After the news broke that Rahm had called liberal activists “f–king retarded” last summer, Rahm was forced to repeatedly apologize, and met with advocates for the mentally disabled to quell the controversy. Sarah Palin slammed Rahm, demanding he be fired, and the firestorm continues to rage.

Now the fire is going to get some more gasoline.

“Eugene” is the stage name of a mentally handicapped wrestling character who performed on WWE’s “Raw” brand. When he was introduced in 2004, according to press reports at the time, viewers complained to WWE, forcing them to issue a statement saying they intended him to be portrayed as a “hero” who would inspire “other people with disabilities to strive to achieve their dreams.”

But there’s footage all over the internet of Eugene getting savagely stomped and beaten, and even demeaned, and one storyline even ended up with him getting savaged in a steel cage. And the Simmons campaign is going to demand that McMahon account for this.

Cue up Palin entering the controversy, and the story may get a whole new burst of momentum.

  • Wow the politicians are getting more “mentally challenged” every day.
    There, I said it.

  • It is probably okay now to call someone an idiot or a moron without riling up Sarah. But retarded is a euphemism that replaced those words back when they were considered offensive, being used as actual psychological categories. Times change.

  • Anyone that is trying to connect Rush and Sarah Palin to the “******’ debate is…well… not very smart. If you listened to the guy for a couple of hours over the 20 years or so that he has been doing his radio bit that he often points out absurdity by being absurd. He even predicted that he would be at the epicenter of this inside of 2 days.

You poor, desperate fools on the left are so driven by your ideology that you forget to look out the window at reality as you pass it by – and if you did you wouldn’t recognize it !
