GOP Leader Working Behind Scenes To Get Palin Reinvited To Big Fundraiser
In another sign of the sway that Sarah Palin and her supporters in Palin Nation hold over the GOP, NRCC chief Pete Sessions is working behind the scenes to get Palin reinvited to the big GOP fundraiser tonight, GOP sources say.
It’s the story of the day that GOP leaders have been battling over who’s to blame for the fact that Palin was “snubbed” when she was disinvited from a speaking role at the big fundraiser, which is for the two Congressional committees, the NRCC and the NRSC. Politico laid the blame on NRCC chief Sessions, claiming he didn’t want her to upstage keynote speaker Newt Gingrich, prompting a round of bitter finger-pointing.
But GOP sources say that Sessions right now is working the phones to try to get Palin to attend, after all. The Hill, in what seemed like an answer to the Politico piece, reported that the real culprit behind Palin’s disinvitation as a speaker had originally been NRSC chief John Cornyn.
In addition to working to ensure that Palin does come, Sessions plans to stress party unity in his speech tonight. “Together, we are showing America that we are a unified party with the best solutions to create jobs and grow our economy,” Sessions will say, according to an advance copy sent my way.
That GOP leaders are now battling over who snubbed Palin, and working to get credit for her re-invitation, is yet anther sign of Palin’s continued power in the party and the sway that the conservative voters who inhabit Palin Nation hold over party leaders.

Update: A GOP source gets in touch to say that Palin was never disinvited completely; she was merely disinvited from speaking. Palin, however, is apparently interpreting this as an outright disinvitation and a “snub,” and it’s unclear if she’s coming at all. I’ve edited the above to, er, clarify.
Update II: Palin will come to the event tonight after all, but she will not be speaking.

Maybe they “disinvited” her originally because they didn’t want her plagiarizing Newt’s speeches with him in the audience. . .

I think the GOP is in for a surprise (again) in the selection of its 2012 nominee. Their primary voters are not as twisted as their cheerleaders (Rush, Hannity, Newt, etc) and politicians presume them to be.

Look at 2008. John McCain rose from the ashes to take the prize. There was a time when nobody gave him a chance. But he had little difficulty defeating his opponents in GOP primaries.

Foaming at the mouth is not civilized. Read some of the debates in the Roman Senate, much less our own, to see how to disagree like ladies and gentlemen. We need to vote to streamline the Federal Government, reduce how many politicians are in office and, incidently, save a lot of money by not having to pay the ridiciously high salaries they vote to give themselves!! Now, about Obama and Palin. Obama seems to be, so far, keeping most of the promises he made during his campaign. I hope whoever try’s to re invent Sarah Palin includes debate coaching, on how to decipher and answer the gotcha questions, such as what publications or news papers she reads regularly,… Since the woman is a avid hunter, if she had included Guns and Ammo on her list, I would not have held that against her. I am wondering how to overcome the idea she promotes abstainance only education in public schools, when her homeschooled daughter who had more supervision that most public school children, could have used some classes on family planning, to prevent gotcha baby’s by teen mom’s. I am not being sarcastic, this woman has incredible baggage, and she isnt even what the GOP really wants to sell, she needs to live up to standards she promotes, not be reinvented to put up a illusion these standards are ‘Realistic”. Sarah Palin just may reemerge as a viable Presidential candidate–it depends upon what Obama does and does not do. I voted for Obama, but I want to see results. I want to see the health care system overhauled, and the health insurance companies shut down just like the plantations using slave labor were shut down. I want to see something done for the American worker, such as getting decent vacations (Wal-Mart starts people off with just ONE week a year!) and unlimited sick leave. I want our workers to have at least the same benefits as German, French and British workers. We are currently the sweatshop of the Western world! Sarah Palin is smart but the GOP platform was just more of the same–no health care reform, no credit industry reform and nothing done about high gasoline prices, which are spiking again. I voted for Obama because I wanted to give the country back to the common man and woman, and take our country back from the greedy, super-rich who were eating up people’s incomes and homes. By the way, I voted Republican for decades but I got tired of the unending party for the rich. The average person was being strangled by the health insurance, credit and oil industries . . . our nation’s economic “axis of evil.” I don’t hate Palin or the GOP, but they have made themselves irrelevant–until they come up with some better ideas than simply catering to the rich.

Sarah Palin is inarticulate. Her intelectual capacity is suspect. It is embarrassing to watch her struggle for coherence in her speech. I cringe at the thought of this person being the face of America for the whole world to see. It was embarrassing enough when George W Bush was that face.
Do not even pretend to know how Palin governs in Alaska. She is a joke here in Alaska mostly among the conservative republicans. I can’t prove to readers I’m from Alaska and follow the news closely, but previous remarks here on her governing in Alaska are completely FALSE. She has very little respect within the ranks of the AK Administration for lack of leadership abilities. I shudder to think what she would do to the US Administration. She is where she is because of Hollywood looks; and she gets away with it.
No Surprise that GM had to sink like the Titanic.. Just the pain and hard work of 300 Million Taxpayers going down the drain.. Whose responsible for that?
