Steele: Palin Has “Gravitas” To Run For President; “Give The Woman A Break”
Another testament to Sarah Palin’s growing power within the GOP: During an interview on MSNBC, RNC chair Michael Steele not only defended Palin as qualified to run for the presidency, he also offered testament to her “gravitas.”
Asked by Andrea Mitchell if Palin had work to do before being considered serious enough to run for president, Steele said:
I still am mystified by the fact that people look at this woman who was a successful mayor, a successful energy person for Alaska, a successful governor and think that she doesn’t have the gravitas to do it.
After Mitchell pointed out that Palin had quit as governor, Steele was dismissive, and appeared to suggest that sexism might be motivating her critics:
You know, give the woman a break. She has been under an enormous amount of scrutiny. The disrespect shown to her, I don’t think we’ve ever seen in politics before — certainly for a female candidate. And I think people really need to check themselves when they come to Sarah Palin.
Video here.
I noted here yesterday that some conservative writers and pols have been dancing around questions about Palin’s intellect and qualifications, suggesting she’s making life uncomfortable for those looking to restore conservatism’s intellectual credibility. Given his testament to Palin’s “gravitas,” Steele obviously doesn’t share those reservations.

BWAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
The Master Plan is going just as it was supposed to.
Independents won’t vote for her. Only about 25% of the country will vote for her, no matter what Maureen Dowd says.
It’s perfect.
Hard to imagine a better judge of ‘gravitas’ than Steele.
Bernie -O I wish I’d said that.
LOL!
Steele has to toe the line. If he insults this moron, the teabaggers will come after him. You know that the GOP want her to STFU but, they can’t tell her to or their base will shrink even further. By the way, Andrea should have informed Steele tha Palin’s ascertion that she would sanction Iraq to keep Iran from getting Nuclear weapons is just one example of why she’s not qualified. And, no I’m not giving her a break. This granny needs to stay home and keep an eye on her other daughters who are hurtling towards estrace.
Give her a break? She already got a nomination for VP while being not even 2 years into her first term as a real politician, and no experience on a national stage. I’d say that is plenty of break, the rest is up to her (and frankly she is doing just fine being a political celebrity).
give her a break. That’s hilarious – the GOP already gave her $250,000 worth of designer pret-a-porter and shoes and bags and undies for First Dude. They gave her the nomination for VP, her own plane, her own staff.
Then her publisher gave her someone to write her book for her and paid her millions of dollars to put her name and picture on the cover, and promote it.
For the runner-up in the Miss Alaska contest and college dropout, I’d say Sarah has had more than her fair share of breaks. Time for some payback, Sarah.
“The disrespect shown to her, I don’t think we’ve ever seen in politics before — certainly for a female candidate.”
Um, yeah … I haven’t heard anyone suggest Palin’s been involved in a murder yet:
http://mediamatters.org/research/200509210002
I’m sure there are plenty of other disrespectful things said about our current Secretary of State worse than anything currently said about Ms. Palin …
How long before someone from the media or even a dem or a repub calls out this dame for what she is ? A fraud.
It’s gonna be awfully hard to shake that quitter label.
You are some seriously nasty and vicious people, that’s for sure. And wildly misinformed and hypocritical, as usual. Just a couple: Palin isn’t a college dropout and wasn’t given $250k in pret-a-porter (let alone asked for it).
And this is rich: “She already got a nomination for VP while being not even 2 years into her first term as a real politician, and no experience on a national stage.”
Obama had no experience except as a Chicago brass-knuckle pol, who took to dirty tricks like a fish to water, and as a first-term Senator with not a single accomplishment who started running for President almost as soon as he was elected and promised he wouldn’t.
And you elected the bumbling clown Joe Biden. Mr. Gravitas if ever there were one. Never did an honest day’s work in his life. Made a complete fool of himself throughout the campaign and particularly in the VP debate. Totally unqualified to run anything, let alone govern.
“I’m sure there are plenty of other disrespectful things said about our current Secretary of State worse than anything currently said about Ms. Palin …”
Perhaps like the fact that she never accomplished a thing except being born into a family that could send her to a fancy college and law school and then marrying Bill, whom she met there. Oh, she did write a thesis on Saul Alinsky and deliver the disaster of Hillarycare. And made a name for herself abusing state troopers and other “little people.”
Anyone who wants to argue with the troll = I’m not going to tell you not to. But I will warn you – the troll will say literally ANYTHING and will not argue honestly and is a waste of time.
Palin is not even close to being qualified to sit on any important committee, far less to chair one. The Presidency? It is worthy of ridicule by all.
But that’s from a rational and educated perspective. From another perspective (she’s like me and she says things that aren’t complicated) she could be seen as ‘qualified’. And that’s the anti-intellectual, anti-elite gambit being played.
We ought to really recognize and focus on Bill Kristol’s central role in forwarding Palin. Kristol is not stupid and he knows probably much better than we do just how unqualified she is to function as President. So why would he forward her?
Two reasons, I submit. Electoral opportunity (needing someone to motivate the base and counter Obama’s charisma and popularity) and thereby stemming the rising tide of liberalism. That’s his life’s work, after all.
What about the consequence, if he gets his way, of this person actually becoming President? Obviously, he believes that she can be manipulated or controlled or marginalized and remain essentially inactive as a President. She will be directed by her betters (and the Cheney/Bush precedent shows how this can be achieved).
Kristol has no alliance with teabaggers or any other such ‘base’ constituency the party relies upon for elections and power. He is a classic uncaring and unsympathetic Platonist. I’ll quote a passage from Nina Easton’s Gang of Five (p 269)…
“…Kristol’s project was no proletarian cause. Insurgent, yes, but expressly elitist. Bill recognized himself as part of the intellectual elite (Nietzsche’s “priestly aristocracy” which was duty-bound to rescue the nation from the wrong class of elites, the one represented by the Clintons and their pedigreed liberal friends…”
Kristol’s real enemy isn’t government. It is government of the people, by the people and for the people. Palin’s use to him is as a convenient figure-head behind which the class of elites he sees himself as being allied with will run the machinery of the state as they, in their superior wisdom, deem appropriate.
“Kristol’s real enemy isn’t government. It is government of the people, by the people and for the people. Palin’s use to him is as a convenient figure-head behind which the class of elites he sees himself as being allied with will run the machinery of the state as they, in their superior wisdom, deem appropriate.”
The right hates democracy. Seriously.
And I sincerely love it that the right has duped their followers into believing that liberal=elitist=satan, on the basis that we went to college. And the people pushing that message went to college, too. A lot of them went to those ivy league schools they mock now.
greg – my comments are coming and going.
I agree Tena. Debating the Troll makes about as much sense as debating the pros/cons of Sarah Palin.
Can’t remember where I read it but someone mentioned Palin makes Bush sound like Socrates.
lolol
“You are some seriously nasty and vicious people, that’s for sure.”
That’s rich. During the presidential campaign Sarah Palin gleefully blew assasination dogwhistles all the time – its not a coincidence that death threats against him went up during her inbred vitriol. So yeah, phuuck you and your disgust.
“Obama had no experience except as a Chicago brass-knuckle pol”
Blah, Blah, Blah. I have an idea, lets have them debate? No? Why not? That’s what I thought. lol
“..and as a first-term Senator with not a single accomplishment who started running for President almost as soon as he was elected and promised he wouldn’t.”
But Alaska is basically a welfare state, her main job is to hand out oil money – a monkey can do that. That said, that was too stressful a job for her.
“And you elected the bumbling clown Joe Biden.”
I’ll take Biden’s verbal gaffes over Palin’s intellectual ones all day buddy.
“Made a complete fool of himself throughout the campaign and particularly in the VP debate.”
..and America clearly said that they prefer him to that clusterphuuck that is Sarah Palin. Thoughts?
“mike from Arlington
Can’t remember where I read it but someone mentioned Palin makes Bush sound like Socrates.”
You know what’s even funnier? It’s true. She makes Commander CooCoo Bananas look like a Rhodes scholar. I think Cmmdr CooCoo understands the difference between Great Britain and England.
Sarah didn’t understand. Just like she didn’t understand what continents are.
How the banking sector held (and still does) the entire world to ransom
“The Bank of England has revealed for the first time that it lent Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) and HBOS £61.6bn in emergency funding last autumn.
Bank governor Mervyn King told a parliamentary hearing it “was to prevent a loss of confidence spreading through the financial system as whole”.
The money was repaid in full by January this year, he added.
A spokesman for the prime minister said it was “a powerful reminder” of how the banking system had nearly collapsed.
It was also revealed that Chancellor Alistair Darling had agreed to underwrite any losses which the Bank may have made on the loans.
…
We may feel numbed these days when there is talk of the hundreds of billions of pounds in taxpayer support to the banks.
Even so, the revelation of these secret emergency loans to RBS and HBOS a year ago is breath-taking.
The Bank of England only felt it was safe to reveal this covert support now, once the ink was dry on longer-term bailout deals agreed with the banks a couple of weeks ago.
Lloyds shareholders were being asked to approve the takeover of HBOS. Yet they were not told about a Northern Rock-style cash bailout of HBOS.
The authorities argue that disclosing the loans would have caused greater disturbance to the whole system. But bank shareholders might well see it differently. ”

It’s amazing how the governments world over fell in line with these thugs’ ransom demands and none – not one of them – has been held to ‘acccount’ till date.
And GDub may have been admitted and graduated from Yale and Harvard as a favor to Poppy, but at least he has the credentials, pro forma or not.
He doesn’t have a damn BA in Sports Journalism that he got through the mail, like Tundra Barbie.
Kristol was raised in Manhattan, attended Collegiate private school (it was about this time when his father started The Public Interest with CIA funding), and went on to Harvard for his doctorate. One can immediately see the clear comparison between him and Palin.
@Mike – that was Steve Benen’s sentence.
amk – Thugs’ ransom demands.
What do you think would have happened if the governments had just let all the banks, the markets and the investment firms go down in flames?
I’m curious what the alternative was.
“One can immediately see the clear comparison between him and Palin.”
Practically Siamese Twins.
“One can immediately see the clear comparison between him and Palin.”
Actually, it makes me wonder if they actually spend time looking for candidates who are so hollow as to be puppets for their neocon ideas. It worked with Bush. Failed with McShame/Palin. But makes you wonder exactly how much EFFORT they put into finding these empty vessels. Would say a lot about their whole strategy imho.
I agree with Mr. Steele that Quitter Palin has “Gravitas”, by contemporary Republican Party standards. On the other hand, so does Joe The Plumber, and Glenn Beck.
LOL, I spotlighted two obvious lies by Tena and she warns everyone that I will say anything. Too funny.
You lie, Tena, and you lied, because you are a hater.
And, btw, Sarah’s degree isn’t from a correspondence school or whatever you are trying to suggest. She should be a heroine to you lefties — someone who came from a nonprivileged background and found her way through less than prestigious schools to become a great success.
And poor Ethan. He doesn’t want to debate since I demolished his ridiculous claims that Obama/Holder had no option to try KSM in a military tribunal. That was embarrassing for you, huh? And looks even more foolish a week later, after everyone knows (1) KSM was ready to plead guilty in a tribunal, and (2) Obama is sending other detainees to tribunals even now.
Tena – I don’t think the world would have ended if those fatcat banks were not bailed out. I don’t buy the too-big-to-fail bullshite. Yes, there would have been a chaos short-term but long term benefits would have been much better.
Makes folks like Al Gore and Ted Kennedy look pretty bad if you want to start comparisons. Bush had better grades than Gore, and Teddy was kicked out of Harvard for cheating and was always a poor student — indicative of his dull wits.
How about Biden? As I recall, he was caught lying about his undistinguished academic record.
Never argue the legal facts with Quarterbrain. He passed the Bar exam, at a fantasy camp, and is now fully accredited to play a Lawyer on the Internet.
qb-
As you said, schools.
She shopped around for 5 or 6 years (I can’t recall which to be honest) through an array of colleges until attending one that gave her a degree. I don’t care about what school she attended, its how many it took to get a single degree, and what that degree was in the end.
As unqualified as Michael Steele is and has been for every job he has every held, I question his authority on Palin’s qualifications for anything. God help us if either of them ever runs for President!!
amk – thanks for answering.
You may be right – I don’t know – I honestly don’t. I just know that when there was a run on the banks in ‘29, the bottom dropped out of everything. That’s why FDR passed the regs that were supposed to keep it from happening again. Then the Repugs started rolling back those restrictions and it happened again and I think what Obama and the rest did was try to keep ‘29 from happening again. And they did.
At least from my perspective. But overall, I have no idea what might have worked itself out and why might not have.
I do know I personally would have been wiped out because my entire retirement is in a mutual fund and bank CDs.
“And, btw, Sarah’s degree isn’t from a correspondence school or whatever you are trying to suggest.”
So simply graduating is supposed to be some collasal achievement? Talk about setting the bar lower than midget limbo contests.:
“Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin attended five colleges in six years before graduating from the University of Idaho in 1987. She began college at Hawaii Pacific University, a private, nonsectarian school in Honolulu. She attended only as a freshman during the fall of 1982, school spokeswoman Crystale Lopez said. Then known as Sarah Louise Heath, she was in the business administration program as a full-time student, Lopez said. “We’re trying to track down someone who knew her,” Lopez added. From Hawaii Pacific, Palin transferred to North Idaho College, a two-year school in Coeur d’Alene, about 30 miles east of Spokane. She attended the college as a general studies major for two semesters, in spring 1983 and fall 1983, spokeswoman Stacy Hudson said.
From North Idaho College, Palin transferred 70 miles south to the University of Idaho, the state’s flagship institution. She majored in journalism with an emphasis in broadcast news. She attended Idaho, whose mascot is the Vandals, from fall 1984 to spring 1985. She then returned to Alaska to attend Matanuska-Susitna College in Palmer in fall 1985. Then she returned to Idaho, for spring 1986, fall 1986 and spring 1987, when she graduated. Despite her journalism degree, she does not appear to have worked for the college newspaper or campus television station, school officials said. She worked briefly as a sportscaster for KTUU in Anchorage after she graduated college.”
————–
Yay, she graduated from somewhere!!!!
Quitter. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
dax,
These thoughts will no doubt be lost to your simian brain, but let’s give it a good college try.
Biden didn’t and doesn’t make just verbal gaffes. He is monumentally stupid and uninformed. Go back and look at the ridiculously erroneous things he said about the Constitution, for example. He styles himself as a Constitutional scholar but doesn’t even know one article from another. He just made his absurd statements with a pompous smile, and the lackey Democrat press ignored his stupidity in the rush to trash Palin.
Not many more people polled think Biden is qualified, either. So your point is? Right, you have none.
“During the presidential campaign Sarah Palin gleefully blew assasination dogwhistles all the time – its not a coincidence that death threats against him went up during her inbred vitriol. So yeah, phuuck you and your disgust.”
You are a liar. And a typically bigoted and personally digusting leftist hack.
“Blah, Blah, Blah. I have an idea, lets have them debate? No? Why not? That’s what I thought. lol”
I’d be happy to see them debate. Obama’s popularity is plummetting and will continue to sink as Dems commit mass political suicide. His illusion of transcendance and even of competency is being shattered each day. He would no longer be able to peddle the cheap promises and patent lies he did with the ease of a snake oil salesman. In case you haven’t noticed, when he isn’t in front of a teleprompter and faces awkward questions, he has pretty big clay feet.
“umm, umm, y’oh . . . um” Sound familiar?
Tena
“That’s why FDR passed the regs that were supposed to keep it from happening again”.
That’s what I meant by “long term benefits would have been much better.” The financial sector, by definition, needs continuous oversight and regulation because it involves public money. The banking and insurance sector went greed crazy in the last few decades that we all be paying for years to come.
“God help us if either of them ever runs for President!!”
Bellefontgirl – No, you should rejoice and want them to run. What a ticket! Palin-Steele – the GOP thumbs its nose at everyone who claims it is sexist and racist in one fell swoop! And it would be the most spectacularly brainless ticket evah! It would be like a parody of running for the presidency.
I’d love to watch Palin and Steele and the remaining GOP disappearing in history’s taillights…
“Yay, she graduated from somewhere!!!!”
So you agree with me that Tena lied. Excellent.
Why is that liberals hate people how don’t come from privilege backgrounds and didn’t attend prestigious schools?
I suppose that you all think the kinds of schools Palin attended should just be abolished, since they aren’t legitimate and only serve the “little people.”
“The financial sector, by definition, needs continuous oversight and regulation because it involves public money. The banking and insurance sector went greed crazy in the last few decades that we all be paying for years to come.”
I totally agree with that. My take on the situation is that by the time it came to a head and everything crashed, it was too late to do anything but bail as fast as possible and keep the f**king boat from sinking right then and there and then work back to the fix.
I’m not alone in having a future that is not distant at all where everything depends on our 26 years’ worth of careful financial planning and saving and investing. We lost a lot overnight, amk. Any more and the incredible hard work that went into that retirement security would have been wasted.
Look back at what happened to the employees of Enron. It wasn’t their fault that the company was a big damn front for a con – their retirement security was ties up there and they lost it all – and a lot of them were close to retirement age like we are.
It’s so much more complicated than just getting to gloat over Goldman Sachs execs going bankrupt.
“I’d love to watch Palin and Steele and the remaining GOP disappearing in history’s taillights…”
Off they go into the dark night. Bringing the ideological Republican Party with them. Good riddance.
QB- Of all the misinformed, senseless, idiotic, and patently absurd things you’ve written here
takes the cake. You should be ashamed of yourself.
holy,
“She shopped around for 5 or 6 years (I can’t recall which to be honest) through an array of colleges until attending one that gave her a degree. I don’t care about what school she attended, its how many it took to get a single degree, and what that degree was in the end.”
Your point is what? Because she did what lots of ordinary Americans do in transferring schools for whatever reasons they do — often financial or looking for the right fit or discovering their path — she is unfit? Anyone who didn’t have the means and background to go straight through a prestigious college or university into the halls of power is unfit?
How about Obama? He transferred from Occidental College. Does that show some intellectual defect on his part?
How about the Dem icon Ted Kennedy, who was EXPELLED from Harvard, where he had no business in the first place, for CHEATING?
You want to admit that he was unfit for office?
“So you agree with me that Tena lied. Excellent.”
I actually agree with Tena that defending an inbred tart makes you look like a geriatric pair of boobs.
I want to see Sarah Heath’s BA. The real BA – the one the school issued to her.
They want Obama’s birth certificate; I want her degree.
My dad dropped out of school in the 8th grade. By the time he was in his 40s, he had a BA too. In his head and in the PR.
2 schools is common. 5 is laughable. Don’t try to paint it as otherwise.
“takes the cake. You should be ashamed of yourself.”
No, it’s a perfectly reasonable conclusion to draw from the overt elitism of the comments here. You dismiss Sarah Palin on the grounds of the schools she attended. You are blatant elitists who appear to believe that anyone who graduates from these lesser schools — like the University of Idaho — is by definition unfit for public life and intellectually inferior — indeed, stupid.
THE CULT OF PERSONALITY.
They speak her language.
Listen to how all these followers of Quitter, have internalized her language, and are now fluent in Palinquistics.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mKKKgua7wQk&feature=player_embedded#
qb is an idjit of a troll. Why do people engage him ?
I don’t get conservatives like you qb. You act like tough guys on defense but then turn around and try and play victim on everything else.
It’s pretty sad and I just wanted to let you know how you look from someone outside of your perspective.
“How about Obama? He transferred from Occidental College. Does that show some intellectual defect on his part?”
Maybe if Harvard Law School wasn’t thrown in that mix.
“How about the Dem icon Ted Kennedy, who was EXPELLED from Harvard, where he had no business in the first place, for CHEATING?”
..but no one ever questioned Ted Kennedy’s grasp of the issues. There is evidence to Sarah Palin’s idiocy.
QB- No I did not. Others? Not so much. Bottom line- stupid is as stupid does. Palin is dumb as a box of rocks, and would be regardless of where she got her degree from. And I’m sure lots of smart, accomplished, deserving people have degrees from the same school as her. Just most of them attended that school and not also 4 others in the pursuit of said degree.
gravitas – Inigo Montoya: You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
“Maybe if Harvard Law School wasn’t thrown in that mix. ”
Editor of Harvard Law Review.
Man, that’s not just Order of the Coif, that’s frakking king of the Order of the Coif.
“2 schools is common. 5 is laughable. Don’t try to paint it as otherwise.”
Because . . . you say so? You know nothing of the circumstanes involved, yet you are qualified to say that it is the difference between being qualified as President and an inbred idiot who is unfit for public life. And you probably believe Ted Kenney was a great statesman who would have been a great President.
This isn’t an argument. You are just making up ad hoc bs.
QB the depth of your ignorance never ceases to amaze me but you are outdoing even yourself today.
“And made a name for herself abusing state troopers and other “little people.”
I thought you were trying to defend the Alaskan idiot not censure her as an ethics commission in her home state did. It was Sarah who ignited a very costly statewide investigation over her treatment of a Highway Patrolman’s superiors. What a horrid example you used!
And comparing Palin’s accomplishments to Obama’s is simply ignorance beyond the pale. Do you HONESTLY suppose Palin could have ever edited the Harvard Law Review. Because Obama turned down the millions as a NYC Corporate attorney to work in poor Chicago communities is considered a liability? Of course for greedy selfish pigs like you Quarterbrain….Actually if you are trying to compare Palin with Obama/Clinton/Biden intellectually, it probably means you can see Russia from your house and Putin has flown over dropping secret messages to your tinfoil hat. Or maybe you vacation in the country of Africa.
But quarterbrain(don’t know who dubbed you that but they were being overly generous) how about stopping with your standard BS of telling us what we believe and then arguing against yourself you moron.
“Why is that liberals hate people how don’t come from privilege backgrounds and didn’t attend prestigious schools?”
Just because YOU say liberals hate doesn’t make it so IDIOT!!! Liberals have a certain reverence for Harry Truman, a common man from the center of the country, who btw tried to get us all health care after WW II. STOP STATING OUR POSITIONS FOR US AND THEN TRYING TO ARGUE AGAINST YOURSELF!!! We do not accept YOUR characterizations of OUR positions…as a selfish, I got mine screw you, torture promoting, conservative you can’t possible realize how a compassionate human being thinks or feels.
So, in the end, you admit that when you collectively mock Palin’s education, you aren’t making any real argument. You just claim she is stupid, and your insults of the schools she attended and the path she took are gratuitous.
And, no, dax, I’m afraid your belief that no one questioned Kennedy’s grasp of issues as opposed to Palin’s is your own narrow perspective. He had a certain genius for dirty attack politics and maneuvering, but otherwise he was a stupid man, as his academic record confirms.
IGNORE “IT”. You can’t debate education with an imbecile.
Michael Steele is such a kidder: “…a successful governor …”
O pull the other one, Michael, it has bells on. LOL
The amount of hate & fear that this woman provokes among you here is just astounding.. truely astounding.
She is a non factor – other than she’s selling a lot of books. She has no legitimate shot at running for President. She does, however – seem popular with a lot of people. Big deal, let her sell her books. The opposition always makes money off the party in power. The book tour will end one day, she’ll and she’ll go back to AK with more money than we’ll ever see.
But the hatred spewed here is really telling. You show your true colors, really – you do.
wow.
rukidding = hater
mike,
How thoughtful of you. You don’t know how valuable the perspective of a narrow-minded leftist ideologue is to me.
But pointing out the lies, hypocrisy, and viciousness of leftis isn’t victimology. I could never be a victim of feckless complainers like you.
qb = healthnut = idjit troll
“But the hatred spewed here is really telling”
Like what?
I just want to see what people like you consider “hatred”…
Please use examples.
Republican Palin quit four Colleges.
Clearly she’s overqualified by Republican standards.
Palin / Steele 2012!
ha·tred (htrd)
n.
Intense animosity or hostility.
Nobody here is displaying intense animosity or hostility. We haven’t for example said she was not part of “real” America. We haven’t questioned her patriotism…and I haven’t seen any trashy remarks about Levi or Todd….
I HAVE seen plenty of DISDAIN an absolute LACK OF RESPECT for her lifetime achievements. She was not an outstanding collegiate student…doesn’t disqualify her but not an achievement…her record as a vindictive, spiteful Mayor of Wasilla who fired the Librarian and Police Chief before changing her mind about the Librarian are documented.
Her lies such as the “bridge to nowhere” are well documented. Calling her a liar is not hateful…it’s simply an accurate observation!!!
She quit as Governor of Alaska halfway through her first term. Calling her a quitter is simply stating a fact not hateful.
She went against a Repub position on windfall taxes on oil companies in her home state and then took those taxes and gave them to her constituents. I’m not opposed to this but it is a form SOCIALISM which makes her at minimum a hypocrite!!! It’s not hateful to point this out.
It’s not hate that fuels these remarks…it is an absolute and complete frustration that this obviously unqualified woman is given any intellectual respect. She was and is too cowardly to have EVEN ONE open press conference to answer questions from all the media. If she can’t handle questions in an open forum how bright or prepared about the issues can she be…
It’s not hateful to point this out!!!
“Clearly she’s overqualified by Republican standards.”
Clearly depends on who she’s running against. For example, Lou Dobbs.
Let that one spin your brain around for awhile.
LOL!
“BWAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
The Master Plan is going just as it is supposed to.” Tena, I stole your opening…but it was just too appropriate…
If Steele believes that he and Dick Armey have done their job well enough to dumb down the American public to the point of actually BELIEVING their own bile, then some of the population is doomed…. It’s gonna get crowded in texas over the next couple of years as those who believe these purveyors of hate move there before the next hurricane …tee..hee….
Still waiting on examples that show the “HATRED SPEWED HERE”…
Thanks.
“But the hatred spewed here is really telling. You show your true colors, really – you do.
wow.”
roflthelaughterthatscaresthedoves…
You show your true colors, you really do. And sbj pretended he didn’t know what a sock puppet was.
Good old ignorant and hypocritical Ruk. I won’t bother responding to most of your absurd rant. But you said a couple of things that are interesting reflections on your ignorance and assumptions.
“Do you HONESTLY suppose Palin could have ever edited the Harvard Law Review. ”
Actually, I have little doubt she could have. First, though, you should realize that there is no evidence of which I’m aware of any actual editing that Obama did. He was elected President of the Law Review on a political basis. That isn’t to say he didn’t do any editing, but your assumption that becoming or serving as President of this publication required some great or surpassing intellect beyond that of mere mortals like Sarah Palin is quite misplaced.
It is hilarious to see you raving on again about what you presume are my personal shortcomings and views, while instructing me to stop characterizing yours. Look in the mirror. Your fellow libs spend a good deal of their time here slandering Sarah Palin as inbred white trash, northern hillbilly with an inferior education, etc. Just read this or any of the other threads about her.
So don’t try to tell me you aren’t a bunch of haters to care about “the little people” only insofar as they do what you tell them, vote for big government, and keep their place. Otherwise they get the Sarah Palin treatment from you Bolsheviks.
Any minute now we’ll know some examples of the “HATRED SPEWED HERE”… Any minute now…
“Actually, I have little doubt she could have. First, though, you should realize that there is no evidence of which I’m aware of any actual editing that Obama did. He was elected President of the Law Review on a political basis. That isn’t to say he didn’t do any editing, but your assumption that becoming or serving as President of this publication required some great or surpassing intellect beyond that of mere mortals like Sarah Palin is quite misplaced”
The troll doesn’t know s*h*i*t and will say anything, anything at all – just to argue.
“The troll doesn’t know s*h*i*t and will say anything, anything at all – just to argue.”
I agree entirely. The Troll is as ignorant as he is pathetic. It just pollutes, that’s all it knows.
I’m trying to be supportive here, “quarterback”.
Clearly Republican Sarah Palin is the most qualified person in the Republican Party.
Palin / Steele 2012!!
Nice examples of “the hatred that gets spewed here.” I’m so glad that is resolved.
So sad that Tena and Ethan can’t respond in any substantive way. Obviously, it is they who don’t know what they are talking about and so just say anything.
What about it, Tena, brilliant law school grad and lawyer. What case do you have to make that Obama did something as President of HLR that would be impossible for Palin? And what knowledge do you base this on? What specifically can you tell Obama did in that job, or how he got it, that is obviously beyond Palin’s grasp?
Then please let us all know whether Joe Biden would have been up to that incredibly superhuman intellectual task.
Oh, Ethan, that was my charge, although I would agree with it. How about Sam Simpleton’s anti-Palin smears? Would those count? How about dax calling Palin inbred?
Please do let us know.
Bad dax, Republican Palin isn’t inbred, she’s clearly the most qualified person in the Republican Party.
Palin / Beck 2012!!
I’m all for Sarah editing the Harvard Law Review. I bet if QB gave her a topic she’d Tweet it or write an article on her Facebook page.
Then she’d show us!
Here you go QB =- see if Palin is interested in doing a response to this article:
“System Effects and the Constitution:
Foreword by adrian vermeule :: A system effect arises when the properties of an aggregate differ from the properties of its members, taken one by one. Familiar examples include Condorcet’s paradox, and the Prisoners’ Dilemma. Public law is rife with system effects that are more important and less familiar. Although such effects are sometimes recognized in local contexts, they have a common analytic structure and can profitably be analyzed in global terms.”
She’ll have to read the whole thing – that’s just an excerpt.
Oops – here’s the linky – be sure and give it to Sarah, QB:
http://www.harvardlawreview.org/
“How about Sam Simpleton’s anti-Palin smears? Would those count? How about dax calling Palin inbred? ”
Nope. Not hatred. Do you have any examples of people praying for her death? Imho, that would do it.
“the Sarah Palin treatment from you Bolsheviks.”
Really QB your hyperbole is growing absurd. Bolsheviks? LMAO @ you. Have any of the regulars here Tena, Liam, Ethan, Mike or myself diminished the debate by calling you a Nazi or a Fascist. We have certainly derided your position on torture and your lack of compassion in the HCR debate…but terms like Bolsheviks-Nazis-Facists are really ludicrous.
Since Sarah doesn’t have the chops to answer and the courage to face a REAL press conference perhaps you can answer a few questions for her…
1.) Where is real America? Do the rest of us live in unreal America. Is that’s the way to bring our nation together?
2.) When she was campaiging and trying to use the guilt by association with the “palling around with terrorists” was she worried about the people who were screaming out “He’s a terrorist” “Kill him”
Really QB do you believe Obama is a terrorist. Do you want to kill him? Are you able to understand firing up a certain uneducated disturbed individuals is dangerous. What constitutes “palling around”? A couple of contacts as fellow board members on a respected Chicago institution? Living in roughly the same neighborhood?
3.) Why did she lie about the bridge to nowhere…more importantly why did she CONTINUE to lie about the bridge after the FACTS were discovered.
Why does she either confuse facts frequently or in simpler language..lie repeatedly?
4.) Do you believe Alaska’s proximity to Alaska gives her any foreign policy chops because that is where Putin would rear his ugly head?…her words not mine.
5.) Do you find her failure to articulate even one foreign policy idea is Katie Couric’s fault? Not because Sarah is basically uninformed and intellectually uncurious?
No one really cares about her lack of education in terms of collegiate accomplishments…but her lack of intellectual curiosity and her demagoguing important issues like science based or outcome studies for health care as death panels…she doesn’t have the intellectual chops, the emotional stability to debate serious topics…such as spending 50 billion a year on the last two months of life when it would be far more humane to allow many of these folks to die peacefully in their homes instead of in an ICU..wired up..tubed up…and completely drugged out of their minds so they won’t inadvertantly pull the wires or tubes loose.
But see QB with an intellectual lightweight like Palin who is only really suited for demagoguery there is none of the desperately needed debate.
For you to defend her is just a reflection on your own lack of debating real issues.
I know respond with an ad hominem attack on me and then point out Obama’s turning down millions to work for peanuts organized communities that desperately needed help somehow is a lack of qualification. Try to shift and divert all you can because you do not have a leg to stand on in this debate. I have just elucicated FACTS..along with some opinion..let’s see how you respond to the FACTS I already get that you disagree with my opinions..fine..how about the FACT?
Sorry for the typo…eluciDated
quarterback the teabagger,
Your ineptitude is hanging out, dude. You rail about how incompetent Joe Biden is while extolling the academic credentials of Sarah Palin? Sarah Palin, A SCHOLAR? You are a buffoon.
Just because you don’t like someone or their politics, or both in your case with Biden, does not make them incompetent. Your breezy dismissal of Joe Biden’s DECADES of effective public service is fairly compelling evidence that your opposition to anyone is based on some idiotic brand of tribalism and has nothing to do with reality. Again, as with your frequent hurling of the charge of “socialist,” your hyperbole is inflated to the point that it is comic and is devoid of meaning.
As for Sarah Palin, it is easy to point to her vastly underwhelming career as compelling reasons to oppose and mock her. She is a parody of what a qualified public servant should be. I find your defense of her modest academic career somewhat puzzling given your boasts regarding your command of history and your stellar path via top flight schools to your JD. For someone who claims to be intellectual, you could not have picked a political figure less exhibitin less intellect than Sarah Palin. To call her an idiot is the understatement of the millennium. If she had done something with her education, it might mean something. She appears to have bounced from school to school until she finally found one from which she could graduate. Nothing further academically to give her any kind of gravitas.
Pee Wee Herman has more gravitas than Palin. The word “gravitas” is antonymous to the name “Palin.” She is willfully ignorant and seems to celebrate her parochial view of the world. She makes Dan Quayle look like a Cambridge don. By comparison, George W. Bush is Sir Isaac Newton. Sarah Palin has never displayed any intellect which could be charitably characterized as rising above that of moron status. You cannot point to any intellectual or academic achievement of hers which contradicts my assertion.
The Couric interviews alone expose Palin as a hopelessly incurious and unaware cretin whose ego is only surpassed by her hubris. Far from being “gotcha” questions, Couric lobbed nothing but big fat softballs at Palin and she still muffed them all. Palin has yet to accept responsibility for anything that has happened in her entire adult life. Anything that has ever gone wrong has always been someone else’s fault.
Palin’s resignation as governor is possibly the best reason of all not to ever take her seriously. Her reasons were incomprehensible and silly. She simply could not handle the job. She was mired in ethics investigations and she was incompetent. If she can’t handle being governor of the state with the smallest population in the nation – or manage a regional bus tour – why would anyone with a functioning frontal lobe make the improbable leap of logic and assume that she is qualified to be president?
Your posts are usually comical, but you have outdone yourself this time. In your bizaree defense of Palin, your teabagger bona fides have been firmly established. You have no more credibility than any of the loud, hyperventilating imbeciles that populate all of the teabagger rallies. Your posts are no more persuasive than their amplified, ignorant bleating.
Bah, bah, bah, BAAAAAH!
“Really QB your hyperbole is growing absurd. Bolsheviks? LMAO @ you. Have any of the regulars here Tena, Liam, Ethan, Mike or myself diminished the debate by calling you a Nazi or a Fascist. We have certainly derided your position on torture and your lack of compassion in the HCR debate…but terms like Bolsheviks-Nazis-Facists are really ludicrous.”
LOLOLOLOL You hypocrites have called me every name in the book, you idiot. YOU of all people want to talk about hyperbole? YOU want to talk about name calling? You, who were just the other day saying only Republicans call people traitors — right before you called Joe Lieberman a traitor to his country? YOU want to talk about diminishing the debate? You don’t know how to “debate” anything.
Your “questions” are just recycling liberal urban legends.
“her demagoguing important issues like science based or outcome studies for health care as death panels…she doesn’t have the intellectual chops, the emotional stability to debate serious topics”
It is you who understand nothing about evidence-based medicine and the implications for government health care. In a private insurance context, people can agree to whatever terms and standards they want for appropriate care. Only liberals see no difference between that and government bureaucrats taking over that function. The recent mammography recommendations were based on evidence-based evaluations. That is what the USPSTF does. You liberals all howled in outrage, because you undestand nothing. When the government is in charge, guess what, the mmammograms the government says women should get will be what they get. And based on your outrage at the recent revisions to the recommendations by a government panel, you will likely be howling about death panels.
Obama demogogued his way into office and is demogoguing health care to the hilt. So you don’t have anything to tell me about demogoguery.
Are we all elitists because of our education or do we “understand nothing”?
Which is it, idiot?
Talk about demagogue…
Gasbag, you are such a pathetic dunce and stalker, always desperately looking for an opening to get back at me for the shame to which I repeatedly exposed you by showing you to be a liar and fraud.
Let’s look at some of your hysterical claims here, just for fun.
“You rail about how incompetent Joe Biden is while extolling the academic credentials of Sarah Palin? Sarah Palin, A SCHOLAR? You are a buffoon.”
I’ve never once extolled her academic credentials or called her a scholar. What a shock: You lie.
“Your breezy dismissal of Joe Biden’s DECADES of effective public service is fairly compelling evidence that your opposition to anyone is based on some idiotic brand of tribalism and has nothing to do with reality.”
Hardly. I don’t think Bill Clinton is an idiot. But I’ve listened to Biden for many, many years, in great detail and on subjects I know a lot about. He is profoundly stupid. I would tell you to go back and review his debate performance, but you are too ignorant and dense, and to partisan, to notice when he, for example, doesn’t know one article of the Constittuion from another.
“Again, as with your frequent hurling of the charge of “socialist,” your hyperbole is inflated to the point that it is comic and is devoid of meaning.”
I don’t frequently make charges of socialism, but when I do it is for good reason. You have fellows here who, more honestly than you, openly embrace it. Government health care, for example, is certainly socialistic. That is why it is often called socialized medicine.
Now, let’s keep your charge about hyperbole in mind as we look at some of your other claims.
“I find your defense of her modest academic career somewhat puzzling given your boasts regarding your command of history and your stellar path via top flight schools to your JD. For someone who claims to be intellectual, you could not have picked a political figure less exhibitin less intellect than Sarah Palin.”
I haven’t “defended” her academic career except to, for example, point out that Tena lied in calling her a dropout, and pointing out the obvious elitism of you leftists in denigrating her education. She did graduate from a major university.
Nor have I made the boasts you describe. I have not claimed to be an intellectual; in fact, I’ve said I am not. I’ve said there are topics I know something about and obviously more about than some of you leftists who make ridiculous claims here that are easily refuted. I’ve never said I went to a top-flight college. I said I went to a top law schoool only because one of you rash and stupid liberals said I couldn’t know what I was talking about on a legal subject. Sorry you feel threatened.
“To call her an idiot is the understatement of the millennium.”
“Pee Wee Herman has more gravitas than Palin.”
“She makes Dan Quayle look like a Cambridge don. By comparison, George W. Bush is Sir Isaac Newton. Sarah Palin has never displayed any intellect which could be charitably characterized as rising above that of moron status. You cannot point to any intellectual or academic achievement of hers which contradicts my assertion.”
“Palin has yet to accept responsibility for anything that has happened in her entire adult life. Anything that has ever gone wrong has always been someone else’s fault.”
You were talking about absurde hyperbole?
“Your posts are usually comical, but you have outdone yourself this time. In your bizaree defense of Palin, your teabagger bona fides have been firmly established. You have no more credibility than any of the loud, hyperventilating imbeciles that populate all of the teabagger rallies. Your posts are no more persuasive than their amplified, ignorant bleating.”
See above. I rest my case.
“Are we all elitists because of our education or do we “understand nothing”?
Which is it, idiot?”
Neither, stupid. You are elitists because you spend much of your time trashing Palin for having attended four institutions of higher learning that apparently do not live up to your exalted standards, rendering her an obvious “inbred” “moron” in your lofty eyes.
I truly hope that your party plays this theme to the hilt. You campaigned to “take our country back” from the traitorous and alien GOP enemy. Now consolidated your power by continuing to condemn and denigrate people who didn’t go to Sidwell Friends and Wellesley and Harvard Law School but instead scrabbled their way through community colleges and less elite universities. Please. Do it.
QB, some questions for you to answer:
Do we really spend “much of our time” trashing Palin’s schools?
What are our “exalted standards” for institutions of higher learning?
Does it make a difference that President Obama wants to commit $12B for community colleges? Or is he still an elitist because he went to Harvard Law?
You just trashed several of the better schools in the country, which makes you not just anti-Elitist, but anti-Elite, because surly not everyone at these institutions are elitists, right?
Do you automatically consider anyyone who has ever attended a good school to be an elitist?
If the elite schools are too “elitist” for you, where should the elite thinkers in our country go for higher education?
Thanks.
I wish I could say, very amusing, Ethan. But really that’s just very boring and silly. You remind me of those commercials that say something like, if the square root of 9 is three, and Bob is 35, what day of the week is it?
Right wingers like “quarterback” exhibit an astonishing cult-like devotion to Republican frauds like Sarah Palin.
I’ll concede that it’s certainly possible that right winger “quarterback” is a Straussian deceiver like Bill Kristol: Someone who doesn’t believe any of the swill the spout.
But “quarterback” genuinely seems like a true believer. And it’s a cultish, fanatic belief that no contrary evidence can sway.
“quarterback” can clearly read and write and yet it’s done nothing to help his critical thinking skills. He exults his authoritarian leader as some type of ’scholar’ even though she is undeniably ignorant and even less curious than Republican Bush (who was notoriously incurious).
It was much the same way with the right wing’s cultish idolization of Republican Ronald Reagan: Fanatic belief in a fictional character who was actually only a Hollywood entertainer playing a part and reading a script.
What’s especially sad is that Republican Reagan’s fraudulent right wing economic policies have badly hurt many of the families that he conned into voting for him.
It would be even worse under Republican Palin.
Does gravitas mean boobies?
Steele: Palin Has “Gravitas” To Run For President
ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!
Neither, stupid. You are elitists because you spend much of your time trashing Palin for having attended four institutions of higher learning that apparently do not live up to your exalted standards, rendering her an obvious “inbred” “moron” in your lofty eyes.
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
qbtb,
You are simply delusional. You incessantly recount all of the times which you have rhetorically slain your foes on this site. Really? I wish you would provide links, because I don’t remember any of these mythical events.
In your tiny little mind, you wage epic rhetorical battles and slay liberal dragons and always emerge victorious. You copiously hurl charges of “liar,” “socialist,” and “Marxist” as if you thought they were lethal darts. In reality, you are simply a venomous, hateful, teabagging troll who parrots what your echo chamber masters tell you to think and speak. You are a buffoon.
Gasbag,
I see you couldn’t defend your ridiculous comments above after I juxtaposed your hysterical “hyperbole” accusations with large blocks of your own words, and allowed you to condemn yourself out of your own mouth. No surprise. Your arguments always collapse in a pile of contradictions and falsehoods, and you resort again to name calling, as here.
And don’t pretend you can’t remember my showing you to be a fraud on multiple occasions, which is what explains your obssession with stalking me.
Like this occasion when you made false accusations about Fox News and Dick Cheney and were shown by me to be a stupid and recalcitrant liar:
http://theplumline.whorunsgov.com/political-media/fox-news-poll-finds-more-support-fox-news-against-white-house/
Have a nice day.
You have 18 posts in this thread and I have one. You are the one who appears to stalk those who disagree with you.
Go ahead. Wage those tiny, insignificant battles in your imagination.
Right wingers like “quarterback” are perfect illustrations for what the right wing has unfortunately degenerated into: Sadists who advocate torture, fantasists that rewrite history and reject science, and deceivers who have no morals to tell the truth or be honest.
LOL,
Yes, gasbag, I was engaged in this thread from early on. But you followed your habit of seeking me out with your typical histrionics. That’s what usually gets you in trouble — you show up to attack me and can’t resist making patently false claims that collapse around your thick skull. You are a small and pathetic person and the most brainwashed automaton on this site.
qb the teabager makes a pronouncement: QED
All discussion must now end. The matter is settled.
Responding to right winger “quarterback’s” false claims is like a light warmup before doing actually challenging intellectual exercises.
“quarterback” represents the right wingers who reject the basic scientific evidence supporting evolution and the age of the planet.
That he thinks an ignorant and incurious deceiver like Republican Sarah Palin is an intellect is beyond parody.
I suppose I’m going to have to look up a couple more things, but this is a pretty good place to start.
Thanks for this cool post. Anyway i found your blog on google and find it very useful. I
