RNC Confirms It: Steele Thinks Dems Are Leading Us “Down The Road To Socialism”

As I noted below, RNC chair Michael Steele is in a political pickle right now, with right wingers exerting more and more pressure on him to start calling Dems “socialists.”

Over a dozen members of the RNC’s conservative wing have introduced a resolution to officially designate the Democratic Party the “Democrat Socialist Party.” But Steele has refrained from labeling Dems with the S-word, instead preferring the term “collectivists.”

How will Steele get out of this one?

The ever crafty Steele has figured out a middle ground. An RNC spokesperson just confirmed to me that Steele does generally agree with party members who say Obama and Dems are socialists. But he doesn’t want the RNC to designate Dems socialists as a matter of official policy.

“He agrees with the notion that Obama and Democrats are taking us down the road to socialism,” the spokesperson told me. “But his opinion is that having specific resolutions to change the way we talk about Democrats is not the right message to be sending.”

So Steele does agree that Dems are basically socialists. But not as a matter of RNC policy. Talk about splitting the baby, baby!

I can’t tell if the use of “Democrat Party” is supposed to be an insult anymore or if Republicans are just too stupid to get the grammar right.

Steele is a joke. I love how he gives into the worst instincts of his party.

    Lola
    .
Its supposed to be an insult and it really just shows you how petty these muthaf*ckas are. Chris Matthews noticed it months ago and called his guests out on it. I guess they are trying to say Democrats aren’t democratic. Who even plays those kinds of childish games? As for the rest of it I hope they knock themselves out with that sh*t. They will be routed again next year and they will continue to shrink until they no longer exist.

    O Gawd!

On the other hand, who is more entertaining than Micheal Steele?

“he’s a dawg, he’s stunter if he don’t do nothing and his car’s so pretty all the whores wanta **** him…”

What a bunch of morons. They are the ones who nationalized the lending and insurance industries. They are the ones who instituted 8 government-funded bailouts. They did it!! They are the ones who took the largest surplus in history and turned it into the largest deficit in history. They are the ones who happily spread American wealth to a foreign country to build roads, schools, provide security and other infrastructure. Is it possible to be that dumb?????

Note to Steele: Really should be the Democrat Social Party. Can I get an invite? Sounds like fun.

Translation: We gotta keep the nuts happy, but we also have to try to keep them off the TV.

I only wish the Democratic Party deserved a name like “Democrat Socialist Party”. The social democratic parties of Europe fought both the Stalinists and Hitler, invented the modern welfare state and turned the European Union into the most peaceful, civilized and prosperous place on the planet.

Our Dems would have to get a damned sight better to deserve that name.

The Fascist Steele is a little slow on the draw, eh? Who cares what this RNC North Korean terrorist thinks anyway?

Hmmm. As opposed to the Repubs leading us down the road to hell?

If the Republicans will call the Democrats a socialist party then about them being refered to as the Republican Nazi Commitee (RNC). In all senses this fits them right! Just slowly, the RNC has turned into a Fascist party!

So far its been Socialist, Totaltarian, Facist, Communism and Socialist Forced Reeducation Camps and on it goes. We know one thing for sure–all Repubs can do is be barn yard cowards and call names. Where were their big mouths as “their” Bush and Cheney and Rove dragged us down the road to ruination!
