Flashback: GOP Labeled Dems The “Party Of No” In 2006
A source unearths an interesting find: A Republican National Committee Web ad released in May of 2006 that attacks Congressional Democrats as the “party of No” for obstructing Bush’s agenda. Give it a watch:
Both sides, of course, will spin the meaning of this video their way. The “party of No,” of course, is the current Dem attack on the GOP for obstructing Obama’s agenda, so Republicans will point to it as proof that Dems are recycling old GOP material — even as they’re accusing Republicans of having no ideas.
But Dems can point out that Republicans can hardly object to being labeled the “party of No” by Dems if they levied the same attack themselves. And Dems will happily acknowledge that they were the “party of No” when it came to halting efforts to privatize Social Security and other aspects of the Bush agenda.
Of course, you can also look at the vid as a reminder of how mind-numbingly depressing and predictable our discourse can be at times.

Actually it makes me think of how awful, politically speaking, times were back then. I mean, ‘No to Qualified Judges. No to Preserving Social Security. No to the Agenda the American People Voted For.’ Yuck!
Of course in 2006 the Republican president had about a 25% approval rating. No one wanted his agenda for the country. Things are very different now.
