* Zachary Roth points out that Dick Cheney is dragging the GOP towards embracing a probe of the Bush torture program. The question is whether Dems will call their bluff and demand that Republicans support a full accounting of what happened, or whether Dems will blink and let Cheney keep defining the debate.
* Jason Linkins wonders whether Cheney’s sudden new affection for government openness about how well torture has worked will extend to calling for the release of that 2004 CIA report that could undercut his torture claims.
* Spencer Ackerman and Ali Frick explain why that report is such a big deal.
* Michael Goldfarb is crushed.
* Why are there so few Democratic members of Congress willing to back Obama’s plan to close foreign tax havens?
* A great catch from Andrew Sullivan on Dick Cheney’s mis-remembering of his oath of office.
* Erick Erickson warns against dismissing the potency of a Cheney- Limbaugh ticket in 2012.
* Ron Paul is back and tapping the bipartisan zeitgeist, Glenn Thrush reports.
* Opponents of health care reform are looking more marginal by the second.
* DCCC chair Chris Van Hollen grabs on to Pete Sessions’ claims that Obama is plotting to destroy the economy to start pushing a new talking point: Republicans are the party of crazy.
* And did Joe Biden really insult Obama’s dog? Not so much.

How about this one:
*Nicole Wallace thinks Gary Sinise might be the one to save the GOP.
I won’t link. You know where to find this.
I think a Cheney-Limbaugh 2012 ticket sounds like a great idea! Possibly the best idea Republicans have come up with in years! With that ticket they can really clarify exactly what their party stands for. (Torture and Hate?)
Has anyone in the right wing blogosphere fallen any lower than Erick Erickson? I mean at one point people actually thought he had a decent blog.
This is not good for the country.
“Zachary Roth points out that Dick Cheney is dragging the GOP towards embracing a probe of the Bush torture program.”
.
This is the same program endorsed by Pelosi, Graham, and every other Dem who is lying that they didn’t know it was going on.

When is the left going to do any actually reporting on the whole story?
Just wanted to point out Ross Douthat’s column in the Times this morning. Though the prior column was (relatively) disappointing, this one is, again, really very careful and rational. Not a cliche or talking point in sight and that alone is startlingly refreshing in a conservative voice these days. I’m increasingly pleased with the Time’s choice. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/05/12/opinion/12douthat.html?_r=1
And let me add that Kristol’s column in the WP this morning is a prime example of what the Times happily got rid of when replacing him with Douthat.
Why the hell is this paper now so comfortably tied to the people and mechanisms which have as their sole intent the forwarding of GOP electoral/propaganda goals?!
“When is the left going to do any actually (sic) reporting on the whole story?”

SteveAR, what do you think this site has been doing? Also, I’m not sure you know the meaning of the word “endorse.” “Condone” may or may not apply–we’ll find out. But “endorse” seems an awful stretch at this point.
