Palin Invokes 9/11 To Attack Obama
Sarah Palin, private citizen, responded to Obama’s speech on her Facebook page late last night with the usual mix of bluster and aggrievement, claiming Obama’s rebuttal of her “death panel” falsehood demonstrated a lack of “civility.”
But here’s the nugget from her response that jumped out at me. She suggested Obama “demonized” victims of the “war on terror” and specifically invoked 9/11 to do so:
Finally, President Obama delivered an offhand applause line tonight about the cost of the War on Terror. As we approach the anniversary of the September 11th attacks and honor those who died that day and those who have died since in the War on Terror, in order to secure our freedoms, we need to remember their sacrifices and not demonize them as having had too high a price tag.
The implication is that Obama is “demonizing” victims of the war on terror — 9/11 victims included — by saying war has financial costs. Palin interprets this to mean that Obama is saying that terror victims have “had too high a price tag.”
For sheer creativity, that one easily rivals the death panels. But that aside, didn’t anyone tell Palin that you’re not supposed to invoke 9/11 to launch political attacks? Isn’t that the sort of thing that would typically gin up lots of media outrage? Maybe now that she’s a private citizen she thinks the rules are different for her, or something.

Considering the Iraq war had nothing to do with 9/11, other than being a lie-ridden sales pitch by the Bush Administration, I’d say it’s just fine to point out the trillions of dollars that horrific mistake has cost us.

Not surprising. She doesn’t write her speeches, her op-eds, her tweets, or on her facebook. She also didn’t govern or read. Is it possible that a journalism graduate could be illiterate? Not surprising, she’s still defending her death panel comment which has nothing to do with any proposed legislation. At first I was stricken, thinking the Republicans are rallied. But the article says it’s a rallying cry for the Dems.

I know the true authoritarian followers will not see the error, but those on the fringe surely can see the disconnect from how they demanded Bush be treated. It is clear to me Palin is naively being used for her popularity and ability to keep the base hyped similar to Joe the Plumber. There is no way she can be elected to anything except Steele’s job but she is useful for keeping the opposition fires stoked by inserting confrontational rhetoric that no responsible elected official could add to the conversation. She’s basically a pawn that believes (and gets treated like by the right) she’s the queen.
You almost want to feel sorry for her since she is waaay out of her league and doesn’t realize that she will be discarded like a empty big mac box once her comments become a liability to the GOP. So I don’t believe she is being “groomed”, I believe she is being used by remote control. The Tea-baggers are the most self-centered people ever. They want hand outs for them and they want to stop anyone who does not receive the kinds of Government Hand-outs that they do. To protect their 95% Government-paid Health Insurance, they want Health Care access restricted.
They are long-time retirees used to not-working. Young people are stupid to wait on them hand and foot and allow these old selfish people to stop the young from getting living wages and benefits.

My comment about the SCOTUS is about corporations buying elections. We private citizens can’t compete with corporations so if the scotus decides corporations can give unlimitedly to campaigns then the GOP will receive large contributions and most democratic politicians will probably join the corporate bandwagon.

I don’t usually reply to posts but I will in this case. I’ve been experiencing this very same problem with a new WordPress installation of mine. I’ve spent weeks calibrating and getting it ready when all of a sudden… I cannot delete any content. It’s a workaround that, although isn’t perfect, does the trick so thanks!
