House Dem Putting GOPers On The Spot By Introducing Measure Describing Hawaii As Obama’s Birthplace

Okay, this is getting really good. Dem Rep. Neil Abercrombie of Hawaii is going to introduce a resolution on the House floor today that seems designed to put House GOPers who are flirting with birtherism in a jam.

The measure Abercrombie will introduce commemorates the 50th anniversary of Hawaii’s statehood. But here’s the rub, his spokesman tells me: It describes Hawaii as Barack Obama’s birthplace.

“In the language of the resolution, there is a statement that Hawaii is the birthplace of the 44th President of the United States,” Abercrombie spokesman Dave Helfert confirms.

That confronts House GOPers with a choice: They can vote for the measure, and endorse the idea that Obama was born in Hawaii, which could earn the wrath of birthers. Or they can vote against commemorating the 50th state’s joining of our blessed Union. Or GOPers can skip the vote, but that could look nutty.

“Far be it from us to try to stir things up,” Helfert said puckishly. “The president was born there, so what are you gonna do? Not mention it?”

Heh.

By the way, Media Matters has unveiled a new site solely devoted to attacking Lou Dobbs and CNN for turning the network over to birthers, which is another sign that the birther tale is good business both sides.

    Nothing better to do?

  2. mike from Arlington | July 27th, 2009 at 04:00 pm

Fascinating how stories quickly take over news cycles.

I don’t think the lady at the NJ Republican meeting will ever hit the notoriety of crazy McCain rally woman, but she did spark off another conversation about how Republican voters have some truly insane people in their ranks.

  3. Chris | July 27th, 2009 at 04:01 pm

Is that a spine I see?

@ sbj, well if your Part would quit with the wacko wing nut conspiracy theories they could do other things.

  4. Chris | July 27th, 2009 at 04:01 pm

    sorry, should read “Party” above.

  5. sbj | July 27th, 2009 at 04:05 pm

“Obama called it “a classic example” of a distraction when the country is fighting two wars and the economy is in recession. “Issues like this get elevated in ways that probably don’t make much sense.”

  6. Chris | July 27th, 2009 at 04:08 pm

I totally agree with Obama sbj; however, your Party has done nothing but advance the notion that he is a foreign born communist Muslim. Now we’ll see how many really stand behind their extremism.

  7. sgwhiteinfla | July 27th, 2009 at 04:08 pm

BUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA You have got to love the Dems for showing some frikkin moxy on this one. I hope that comes to the floor of the House this week before they go home for the break. Lets see how many wingnuts show themselves to be afraid of their fringe base by refusing to say President Obama was born in Hawaii.

    You gotta love it!

  8. Trinity | July 27th, 2009 at 04:14 pm

LOVE THIS. More like it please.

  9. Sam Simple | July 27th, 2009 at 04:15 pm

Beautiful. Nicely played by the Dems. Make the knuckle-draggers in the GOP show their ignorance and bigotry in the raw light of day.

  10. Jenn D | July 27th, 2009 at 04:16 pm

@sbj – Are you asking that question of Greg or of the House Dems?

  11. benjoya | July 27th, 2009 at 04:18 pm

ha freakin ha freakin ha. checkmate, you loons.

  12. sbj | July 27th, 2009 at 04:26 pm

    @JennD: House Dems.

Seems as if today is distraction day and Greg is playing his part. Obama had a bad week and his numbers are in the dumpster so what do we do? Hey! Let’s tar all Repubs as birthers! Four posts on this carp – sheesh!

How about this for a response? “I refuse to vote on any waste of time symbolic resolution until we get to the matter of healthcare reform – shame on the Dems for sponsoring pointless resolutions while Americans are suffering for lack of health care reform. Let’s get back to work.”

  13. Chris | July 27th, 2009 at 04:34 pm

@ sbj, love how you skip me. You must be crazy sbj. Even according to Fox News Obama’s approval is 54%. Since when is 54% in the dumpster?? Your boy W was in the 20s when he left, and he’s the greatest president ever.

Your voting response is classic. Just like your refusal to admit the last 8 years of conservative rule were a complete disaster for the country, you just pretend they didn’t happen and move on. Now you want to pretend your Party isn’t making Obama’s birthplace an issue and move on. Denial is really all you do.

  14. sbj | July 27th, 2009 at 04:37 pm

I can just see the RNC web ad:

Text: President Obama says that Congress needs to act now to reform healthcare.

Clips of Obama: “Americans are suffering everyday, being denied the care they need, going bankrupt due to outrageous cost, small business is bearing the brunt, and our economy is in tatters. Healthcare reform is urgent and Congress must act now and not delay.”

Cut to House floor with members joking and milling about while some nameless bureaucrat reads the text of Resolution HR2112: “To commemorate the 50th anniversay of Hawaii’s statehood …”

RNC: “The Dems in congress – what the heck are they doing?”

  15. elisabeth | July 27th, 2009 at 04:37 pm

    @sbj

This is far less a distration than McCotter introducing a resolution asking the president to apologize to the Cambridge PD.

Since the birthers are questioning the president’s legitimacy I’d be interested to see how many Congress people are willing to put their vote out there for all the world, including their constituents, to see.

  16. J in IN | July 27th, 2009 at 04:38 pm

@sbj…here’s the thing. Resolutions honoring historical events, etc happen all the time. How about a little ’shame on the Republicans’ for submitting a resolution calling on Obama to apologize to Sgt. Crowley?

  17. Xero | July 27th, 2009 at 04:38 pm

    @sbj

I’m sure you’ll demand that same response from all the Rs when McCotter’s res demanding the POTUS apologize to the Cambridge PD hits the floor right?

  18. J in IN | July 27th, 2009 at 04:39 pm

For the record, I think elisabeth and Xero are great thinkers…. heh

  19. williamc | July 27th, 2009 at 04:39 pm

It’s all a distraction to sbj, unlike the investigation he/she/it was advocating due to Pelosi saying the CIA lied to her and to Congress. That wouldn’t have taken away any time from healthcare at all, wouldn’t it?

This is why I can’t stand these people: they swear that they are consistent and yet on every issue, their stance is different. There’s no racism left in America they say, unless White folks are being discriminated against! There’s nothing the President can’t do to keep us safe, unless it’s a Democrat (sic) President, then Torture Sucks! Citizens not born on American soil are ineligle to be President, unless it’s Panamanian born John McCain!

I sometimes think conservatives hate liberals because we actually do live our values and hold OUR elected leaders’ feet to the fire when we think they are straying from what we and (supposedly they) believe, whereas conservatives just fall in line, no matter the cognitive dissonance it would cause…

  20. Chris | July 27th, 2009 at 04:42 pm

@ sbj, that’s truly a fantasy world you’re in. I hope the RNC runs your ad. The DNC can run one right back with Bachmann, Limbaugh, DeMint and all the others advancing the notion that Obama is a foreign born enemy. And then say, “this is why we are doing it.”

    Still skipping me I see.

  21. sbj | July 27th, 2009 at 04:42 pm

I also believe that McCotter’s resolution would be a waste of time.

Both resolutions are designed to do the same thing – put the other party in a political bind. It’s a waste of time and a shame. But that’s politics, eh?

@Williamc: If the CIA is lying to congress about matters of national security then that it a very important matter indeed.

The rest of your post sure is full of stereotyping!

  22. Jenn D | July 27th, 2009 at 04:45 pm

@sbj~ I hope that you are posting similar requests to the GOP elected officials that are trying to propose legislation to require proof of citizenship, the so-called “birther bill”…that mess started with a GOP guy in Florida (Posey? I think) a few months ago. So the Republican Party is more to blame for this one coming front and center….if you have an issue with GOPers being painted as birthers, then maybe you should speak up, because not many people on the GOP side are doing a lot to address the idiocy of these birthers. I do have to say that it is encouraging to see Ann Coulter calling the “cranks”, but otherwise, most of the GOP talking heads are pumping this up, not taking it down.

  23. Sean InsHannity | July 27th, 2009 at 04:48 pm

Brilliant! Frickin’ BRILLIANT!!! Dems, keep sticking it to these ignorant, teabagging, tin-foil-hat droolers and their new “birfer” messiah, Lewd Obbs!

  24. Jenn D | July 27th, 2009 at 04:51 pm

I just saw a post on Politico that Orly Taitz (the attorney/dentist/real estate agent) is bragging on her website that she has become fast friends with many in the upper GOP leadership. She literally says the “GOP is on her side” – So um, SBJ, perhaps you should address this issue internally with the GOP, they seem to be having the most problems getting their position straight these days. Can you imagine the reaction if in 2002, House Dems were acknowledging the 9/11 Truthers, with similar zeal and proposed legislation? The GOP leadership better get themselves straight on this issue…they look like they are bowing to this lunatic fringe portion of their party, and it will not be good for them, its an election year next year for godsake, and they are talking about the birthers?

  25. sbj | July 27th, 2009 at 04:53 pm

@jennd: It’s a tired old tactic to try and paint the entire party with the antics of the fringe. Same thing happened with 911 truthers and Dems. It’s a waste of time and not worthy of response. I don’t know who this woman is and I don’t care what she says. Why do you? The ones asking the questions and the ones proposing the resolutions are the ones who are playing politics and wasting all of our time and money. Just like it is not up to every Dem to repudiate 911 truthers it is not up to every Repub to repudiate birthers. It’s a bunch of bullshiite.

Greg simply posts this sort of stuff because it attracts a lot of readers and comments, gets him some links – just like Politico did today to start all of this. I’m sure that Greg would lament the fact that posts about birthers and Letterman get all the comments while posts about substantive issues seem to garner very little interest. This is a giant distraction.

  26. Chris | July 27th, 2009 at 04:59 pm

@ sbj, fringes? Is Jim DeMint fringe? What about Bachmann? Now today we have Inhofe giving credence to the birthers. These are people in Republican leadership, they aren’t private citizens. These are actual Republican Party officials.

SBJ, name me one incumbent Democrat that advanced 9/11 truthers. Give me one.

  27. Jenn D | July 27th, 2009 at 05:02 pm

@sbj – well I totally agree with you that these are distractions, but I would propose to you that it is the elected GOP officials and the “leadership” of the Republican Party that needs to address this issue with their own supporters. Can you point me to any proposed legislation that a Dem brought forward on behalf of the 9/11 Truthers? The GOP can’t have it both ways, not in this day and age of YouTube and instant communications, it’s not like back in the Atwater days when you could say one thing to the mainstream and then say another thing to some wings of the Party. This issue is about to take over the “face” of the GOP if they don’t get someone out there to tamp it down… the birthers are nucking futz and if they think someone is legitimizing them, they are going to get louder and louder. This is the GOP’s problem to nip in the bud.

  28. peg | July 27th, 2009 at 05:03 pm

this bill by Abercrombie is just as much fun as the video of trying to get Republican congresspeople on the record about whether or not they believe President Obama was born in the United States

  31. Son of Liberty | July 27th, 2009 at 05:08 pm

Even if 0bama were born in Hawaii (and I don’t believe he was, having read the statement of his grandmother who said she was present for his birth in Kenya, and having seen evidence which suggests his CoLB is a forgery – along with the fact that DailyKos released it the day before the 0bama campaign), that still would not deal with the fact that he lost his citizenship of birth when he became a citizen of Indonesia after moving there as a child.

Indonesia did not permit anyone except its own citizens to attend schools there, and 0bama attended. It did not allow dual-citizenship. The only way he could have attended would be to renounce his birth citizenship. Once that citizenship was relinquished, it could never be regained. He could only become a naturalized citizen, not a natural-born citizen.

0bama is not qualified. He is not a natural-born citizen of the United States. Shame on the media and the Democrat party for lying to the American people. All any person need do is research the matter on their own, and it becomes impossible to believe that 0bama was born in the US.

The CoLB is a forgery. The announcements in the papers give a false address. 0bama traveled to Pakistan and Kenya before ever receiving a US passport. These are facts, not opinions. If 0bama wants to prove he’s eligible, then show us ALL the records. Birth Certificate, college records, and every other scrap of paper relating to his eligibility. Until I see proof that refutes that which I have already been presented, I will trust what the evidence says: He’s not eligible.

  32. Sean InsHannity | July 27th, 2009 at 05:12 pm

Son of Stupidity, you are a willfully ignorant, racist teabagger with a tin-foil hat. A true wingnut voidoid and zotzbrain.

  33. don cotler | July 27th, 2009 at 05:13 pm

This resolution is really softball politics. The happy coincidence of Hi’s 50th makes this a no-brainer for the Democrats. The tough thing about irrational beliefs is that sometimes they lead to preposterous contradictions in one’s world view. Really gifted Republicans like RWR and GWB had the ability to not be embarrassed when these contradictions become too obvious to ignore.

  34. williamc | July 27th, 2009 at 05:13 pm

This is not a distraction, and the fact that you protest so much sbj is how we know it’s not. A straight line can be drawn from the McCain/Palin rallies and the birfers. I don’t really understand why it’s so hard to believe that people who believed everything that Bush/Cheney said, and in the end were their only base of support, would be rabidly anti-Obama. The fact that you are here arguing with leftists instead of out convincing conservatives to give up their crazy thinking is damning enough…

  35. sbj | July 27th, 2009 at 05:13 pm

@jennD: The issue does not need to be addressed. There’s always a lunatic fringe out there and they should be ignored. The danger occurs when there is a coordinated media blitz (are we seeing one right now?) to tar an entire party.

Consider this Zogby poll (page 8):

    http://www.911truth.org/images/ZogbyPoll2007.pdf

42% of Democratics felt that Bushco either carried out the 911 attacks themselves, or else allowed them to happen so that they could eventually fight an unpopular war.

Is that bat-**** crazy? Yes. Did that make the Democratic leadership culpable? No. Did the Democratic leadership nip that in the bud? No. Did that issue take over the face of the Democratic party? No.

Much ado over nothing – unless folks like Greg keep pushing it and try to rile readers like you.

  36. Julie | July 27th, 2009 at 05:14 pm

Republicans should insist that all documents pertaining to the resolution be put into the record. This will force the Democrats to prove that Obama is a “Natural Born” American..meaning that both his parents were American citizens at the time of his birth. Were BOTH his parents American citizens at the time of his birth? Only way to prove this is to produce his LONG FORM birth certificate. Like mine, his will state his parents name, where they were born, their occupations, where Obama was born, and what physician attended his birth along with his signature. Why has Obama spent nearly a million bucks to hide his records and why is it that the first thing he did when taking office was to sign an Executive Order that prevents the public from seeing certain documents. On January 21st, 2009, his very first day in office, Barack Obama implemented and signed into law Executive Order 13489. Notice Of Intent To Disclose Presidential Records. All he has to do is present his long form birth certificate to the media and this issue is dead. If he doesn’t, then there will continue to be questions and the questions will continue to become louder. It appears that he is hiding something. Any American has the right to ask if their President is legally elegible to be President. If this was Bush not providing his long form BC, you guys would be yelling, “off with his head” and you know it.

  37. Chris | July 27th, 2009 at 05:15 pm

@ sbj, c’mon let’s get this done. Give me one incumbent Democrat that advanced 9/11 truthers. And explain how your Party has not made this an issue. All you want is for the birthers never to be tackled directly and allowed to muddy up the background with their conspiracy theories. But your Party officials took hold, so now what? Man up sbj.

  38. sbj | July 27th, 2009 at 05:16 pm

@sg: I could handle only a minute and a half of that but it was VERY weak. C’mon now! You can do better than that.

  39. Chris | July 27th, 2009 at 05:17 pm

@ sbj, again, you call it a fringe.

  40. Patrick McKinnion | July 27th, 2009 at 05:21 pm

Son of Liberty – First off, it was his step-grandmother, and the full tape and transcript (not the edited version Berg got from McRae) had Sarah Obama saying clearly he was born in Hawaii, not Kenya.

Second off, you are aware that under US law, a minor cannot give up their US citizenship nor can the parents give it up for them?

Third off, according to the US State Department, there was no Pakistan travel ban for US citizens in 1981.

And finally, the belief the COLB is a forgery is based on the writings of one “Polarik”, a nameless, faceless so-called “expert” that has never provided any proof of identity, or the training, experience, and education he claims. There is more credible evidence and proof as to Barack Obama being born in Honolulu, Hawaii, than there is about anything to do with “Polarik” or his claims of forgery.

  41. Sean InsHannity | July 27th, 2009 at 05:22 pm

The GOP is now officially the extremist, completely Talibanized, lunatic-fringe rump party, and no longer a credible political entity. They’ve passed the point of no return. No serious, intellectually honest, non-morally bankrupt person can continue to call this motley, unwashed, proudly ignorant mob of miscreants, hillbillies, losers and whack-jobs their political home. I feel desperately sorry for the last few remaining reasonable, genuine Republicans. Please form a new, legitimate political party that’s actually grounded in something other than racism, blind hatred, and mass mental illness, and rejoin the fray. We’ll welcome you warmly.

  42. Mike C. | July 27th, 2009 at 05:24 pm

Wow, what a terrific maneuver by the Dems. Now where’s the tactical equivalent for passing health insurance reform?

  43. Marla | July 27th, 2009 at 05:25 pm

Turnabout is fair play…..too bad Congress has resorted to playing at a time when the Nation is in crisis,

  44. Patrick McKinnion | July 27th, 2009 at 05:26 pm

Julie – First off, there is nothing in US law or the US Constitution to support the claim that “Natural Born Citizen” means “both parents are US citizens”.

Second off, the birthers keep claiming Obama spent anywhere from “$500,000″ to “$5 million” to “cover things up”, but they have yet to provide any evidence. Most of the lawsuits to date, (the majority of which have been dismissed) were against state officials, not against Obama directly. As such, it was the taxpayers of those states who paid the legal bills – or the plaintiffs in the dismissed cases. In the few cases Obama was the direct defendant (Keyes v Bowen for example), the attorneys worked pro bono, and the legal fees the plaintiffs were fined for amounts to $1500.

  45. Jenn D | July 27th, 2009 at 05:26 pm

@sbj~ You are calling this the “fringe” of the GOP, but we are talking about elected officials in the GOP and GOP “leadership”, not just the “fringe”…again, unlike Atwater days, you cannot have it both ways…and hey, don’t listen to me about them needing to nip it in the bud…just let it fester with people like @Julie, who are not satisfied with the Certificate of Live Birth(this is what I have and all three of my sons), the two birth announcements in two seperate papers from August 1964, the Republican Gov of Hawaii that has come out and stated that it has been verified that he was born there; none of this matters to @Julie and like she just said, it will only get louder and louder – so it is the GOP elected officials call – embrace people like @Julie or get back to things the American people (not the birthers) want to discuss…the ball is in the GOP court on this one…

w3bgrrl, you only get half a point for that. At least half(probably more) of the 9/11 truthers are libertarians and/or old-school conservatives, not lefties. Ron Paul (not the man himself, but a huge chunk of his most hardcore followers are 9/11 truthers), Alex Jones, etc.

  57. Kastanj | July 27th, 2009 at 06:52 pm

It must be said that a few GOP congressmen received a chance to distance themselves and did not.

There was plenty BDS in the left in years past, but did any democrat congressman give the “BUSH DID WTC!” crowd any recognition? Show me a dem congressman who didn’t dare to distance his- or herself from that crowd when given the chance.

  58. Chris | July 27th, 2009 at 07:13 pm

@ sbj, a lot smarter than you are now. C’mon now, quit pussyfooting and get this done. Is Inhofe fringe? Is DeMint fringe, or Bachmann? You want people to think it’s only the fringe and maybe it is. But these people are in leadership positions. They are the Party. If they are “fringe” what does that say about the Party?

Show me where incumbent Democrats embraced 9/11 truthers like the GOP has the birthers. Back up your words. Prove me wrong!!

  59. bkat | July 27th, 2009 at 07:19 pm

Hawaii should be proud of their native son as they, rightfully, celebrate their 50th anniversary as a state! This is a wonderful resolution that should pass easily. (or will it?)

  60. w3bgrrl | July 27th, 2009 at 07:40 pm

@tagimaucia – you have some data to support that opinion? Certificate from Hawaii or something?

  61. w3bgrrl | July 27th, 2009 at 07:57 pm

@Chris – Dennis Kucinich and Cynthia McKinney. Both stated that Bush knew and did nothing.

Let’s also remember than mainstream Democrat Al Gore fanned the flames of the “Bush Stole the Election” conspiracy.

Democrats accused the Bush administration of a conspiracy to neglect Katrina victims. This was mainstream all the way up to Nancy Pelosi.

BUT the nuts are all on the right. Remember that.

  62. Mark L | July 27th, 2009 at 08:17 pm

They will do absolutely anything to “prove” Obama was born in the US EXCEPT simply show the proof they insist they have. Of course, no intelligent person will be fooled by this. The more they sing and dance around simply showing the evidence, the more people will be convinced that they have something to hide. All they have to do to end the debate instantly is simply SHOW THE DAMN ORIGINAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE.

Instead of taking this simply action, they do everything except that, all of which are more difficult and time consuming than simply SHOWING THE ORIGINAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE they claim to have but refuse to produce. The more they do this, the more people are, rightly, convince that they have something to hide and Obama was not born in the US.

This story is the most amazing yet. They are now going to introduce resolutions on the floor of the house insisting he was born in the US, while still refusing to take the very simple action of simply PRODUCING THE EVIDENCE.

This resolution attempt is simply more evidence that they are hiding the fact that Obama was NOT born in the US. Any 78 year old knows better than to fall for this kind of song and dance routine. They will go to any length in inisiting they have the proof, but refuse to simply produce that proof they claim to have and which would instantly end all debate.

This song and dance routine only increases the evidence that Obama was not born in the US. WE ARE NOT STUPID. The original birth certificate OBVIOUSLY proves Obama was not born in the US. This resolution is the final proof as far as I am concerned. If they are willing to go to that much trouble to avoid simply SHOWING THE PROOF THEY CLAIM TO HAVE then, obviously, that proof either does not exist or proves Obama was NOT born in the US.

Any 8 year old knows better than to fall for this old song and dance.

I voted for Obama and I have one thing to atate…
I have a problem with the fact that he Obama has hidden documents not only regarding his birth but his contributors that got im elected. If he ad the Democratic party have noting to fear than why do they not surrender the documents of proof? I myself and others I know have lost a tremendous amount of confidence in BHO because of his illusiveness. Barrak…Cowboy up and show us the proof to finally lay these issues to rest.

This one is a biggie for Republicans to deny, but they always find a way…give them credit. It was with surgical precision and evil…thanks Dicked Cheney. Oh, “the birfers?” Something fishy about the Russian born dentist leading the way…do you think she treats only fringe Republicans?

Silly conservatives, don’t you know that you never stop your enemy from hanging himself? In fact, you give him more rope. If they end the debate on the birth certificate by producing the long form the attention goes back to how you are going to be able to keep the insurance plan you have as long as you pay taxes for daring to have a “gold-plated Cadillac” plan and you stay at your current job forevah and nevah leave it.

Can we all agree that President Obama’s childhood is murky? I believe what many birthers want and I myself would like is clarity. In a world full of deception, there is nothing wrong with wanting things verified. In fact, are we not encouraged to verify, verify, verify? President Obama is in the position where he could easily verify the truth. Why wouldn’t he?

  71. John | July 27th, 2009 at 08:51 pm

It sounds friggin’ ridiculous to suggest that Obama isn’t an American. I mean how could something as important as this escape the attention of the CIA, FBI, congress, or whoever does the vetting !! Gosh, its like we dont have more pressing issues to think about.

  73. mike | July 27th, 2009 at 08:57 pm

all of the proof and original documents have been produced, that is why all the lawsuits have been dismissed and the supreme court (which is highly conservative) dismissed all the suits 9-0. why? because the proof was presented you all are asking for…..now why have we not got the missing military records for bush….

obama turned over every record he had too….but nice try getting us to believe that when obama was born in the 60’s they knew he was going to be pres so they paid 50 g to hide his citizenship…really…that is what you are basically saying…wow no wonder you GrOPers lost every election out there including one to a damn comic…lol…just admit it you guys are losers, pissed off we kicked the **** out of you in every election….carry on obama…..OUR president

  78. cygon | July 27th, 2009 at 09:08 pm

I am no Obama supporter but I am sufficiently informed about USA civics to know that American citizenship can be obtained 3 ways: jus sanguinis, jus soli and by naturalization. Even if Obama was not born in the USA, his mother was obviously American, hence, he is American by blood (jus sanguinis) – just like those kids fathered by GIs abroad are American. just like biracial kids born abroad in countries where citizenship may be based on either blood or ’soil’- they could be entitled to dual citizenship but one of those citizenships is American.

  79. mike | July 27th, 2009 at 09:09 pm

good try john he is here for 71/2 more years…..move to alaska, recede from the union and bow to palin as pres of alaska and take all the repubs with you….no one will argue or care for that matter….now just leave ol blinded sheep….

  80. w3bgrrl | July 27th, 2009 at 09:09 pm

@mike, factually, the documents have not been reviewed by the court. The cases were dismissed because the plaintiffs had no standing. In other words, the courts ruled they weren’t damaged by not having Obama’s birth certificate.

In begs the question, who does have standing to compel Obama to produce the long form? Do we have a constitutional requirement with no ability to enforce it?

But we’re really spending way too much time on this when we have idiot Republican Senators trying to run a compromise on Obamacare that would tax so-called “gold-plated Cadillac” health insurance plans. What Republican would put his name on this? I seriously hope what has come out from AP today about the Senate Finance Committee is bogus.

  81. moh | July 27th, 2009 at 09:10 pm

All records about Obama’s birthplace were made public in major news networks prior to his election as POTUS. But wait a minute, many of us were too engrossed flipping channels watching those stupid reality shows on bravo, vh1 en’ the like instead

  82. Pete S | July 27th, 2009 at 09:11 pm

Now wouldn’t a certified long form birth certificate be faster and cheap.

Oh I forgot Obama refuses to produce that so the dems need to pass a law saying he was born in Hawaii.

Mid term elections are coming up and hopefully Americans will put checks and balances back into this democrat spendfest of a government

  83. w3bgrrl | July 27th, 2009 at 09:12 pm

  86. mike | July 27th, 2009 at 09:19 pm

no i disagree that the proper forms were not shown..he would not have got that far in the election process…so keep holding on to your parisan views…and for all of you who still have short term memory our country is in this meltdown because of bush and only because of bush…8 years he had to fix any problems…but tried to hide them until after the election and it blew up in his face and destroyed his party…live with it….you lost to obama….

  87. BsinPa | July 27th, 2009 at 09:21 pm

Mike, I don’t like your president, I am not leaving, and I am not getting over it. I don’t care where he was born, his policies and incompetence at anything other than campaigning are destroying the country. You are dreaming if you think the Dems will survive the 2010 elections.

  91. mike | July 27th, 2009 at 09:25 pm

didnt 911 happen on bush’s watch…and if you people are correct, that it only takes six months to fix the last president’s errors and mismanagment, then bush had 9 months and let that happen to our country…shame on him…..

  92. w3bgrrl | July 27th, 2009 at 09:26 pm

@mike, let’s be factual. He only offered an electronic short form. Not “forms,” as you claim. Your evidence “if A, then B. Not A, therefore not B” is a logical fallacy. The fact is he showed one electronic short form. However, let’s also be clear that I am simply criticizing your logic and not your claim that he is an American. His mother was a citizen and therefore it shouldn’t matter if he was born in Hawaii or on the moon. He’s American. But he didn’t show “forms.” Why don’t you just change your argument to one that cannot be disputed and is correct: “his mother was American at the time of his birth.”

Now as for you blaming Bush for everything. That is also dishonest. Congress refused to reform Fannie and Freddie. These default mortgages which were resold and packaged as investments basically broke the bank.

Who created this mess? We did. Americans are paying the consequences for acquiring assets on credit they couldn’t pay back.

Grow a pair. This ain’t all Bush’s fault.

  93. BsinPa | July 27th, 2009 at 09:28 pm

Republicans failure to resist the corruptive power of big government is a great reason for limited government. The Dems are the Repubs on steriods. A trillion dollar deficit in 6 months. Wow!2 trillion by year end, and what did we get? 10% and rising unemployment.

  94. John | July 27th, 2009 at 09:30 pm

And you wouldn’t believe it was real if he did produce the “long form” birth certificate anyway. I can hear you nuts now: “it’s a forgery!” Did Dubya produce evidence of WMD in Iraq to you or did you just jump on the bandwagon because he said they were there? Why weren’t you nuts screaming for proof when he sent Americans to die over there simply to get Hussein because his daddy didn’t get reelected after Desert Storm? By the way, Dubya lied — there were no WMD.

dont need to go that far into the argument…he was allowed to run and win with what documents he showed…and until someone proves or can get a court to listen, that the documents he produced were not valid….we do not have to get to the next level of the argument…your argument is grounded in constitution law….it has not progressed that far…we are still at r the documents valid..and so far the answer is yes….how do we know that…most if not all lawsuits have been dismissed and obama is president..

bush had 6 years to deal with fanny and freddie, he did’nt…now you want me to come down with amnesia and forget that portion and skip to 2006 and ask why a democratic congress did not fix the problem…

To not raise taxes on anyone making less than $250,000? Why would OBAMA spend over a million dollars ($1,000,000 USD) to keep this quiet? Whose money is it???
Why would Obama spend a million dollars, if there is no truth to be hidden??? He shouldn’t have spent over a million dollars, should he?? Again, WHY WOULD HE SPEND Other’s money to deny this. A MILLION is a lot of money to most of us….In fairness, he should refund them their Million dollars.

I’m hoping some left-wing sympathiser and follower of Obama can explain this definitively. Or maybe a press corp person at the White House. Explain the Million dollars to all of us.

If no one does, what does this mean to their marching orders? A million US dollars, and more, to try to quiet the truth from coming out?

That’s just waaaay more crazy than anything that I’ve heard of a politician spending to quiet his inquiring critics. Now please chime in. If Obama is not lying, then why in the world would he spend more than $1??

That just doesn’t make sense to anybody.

Is this an attempted cover-up, or just plain a lie perpetrated and supported by ignorant supporters who choose to ignore facts about the plus-ONE MILLION dollars?

PULEEEEZE, TELL US, why Did Obama spend over a million for no reason, AT ALL???? IS HE THAT STUPID, WOULD HE WASTE A MILLION, EVEN NOT HIS OWN INCOME? That would be beyond Stupid, beyond insane. WHY??

No, the proof hasn’t been released. I’d like to know why the American citizens would not have a tangible interest in Presdient Obama’s case. If the certified birth certificate exists, let’s see it.

  135. srsmith | July 27th, 2009 at 10:38 pm

In researching this story, go the microfilm archives and found the birth announcement for Obama. You will find two of them, one in his Honululu Advertiser on Aug. 13 , 1961, and in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin the next day . They both said the same thing: “Mr. and Mrs. Barack H. Obama, 6085 Kalanianaole Highway, son, Aug. 4.”

But here’s the thing. Newspaper officials he checked with confirmed those notices came from the state Department of Health.

“That’s not the kind of stuff a family member calls in and says, ‘Hey, can you put this in?’” Hoover explained.

Take a second and think about that. In order to phony those notices up, it would have required the complicity of the state Health Department and two independent newspapers — on the off chance this unnamed child might want to one day be president of the United States.

  136. The Mad Marine | July 27th, 2009 at 10:40 pm

Debunked?? Only the ignorant would even consider the birth certificate issue is debunked!! Even the authorities in Hawaii have said that it is too easy to apply for and receive an Hawaiian birth certificate. 1. Pay the application fee. 2. Prove that you are standing in front of them and breathing. 3. Fill out an application. 4. Wait for it to arrive in the mail.

There is not even a requirement for the proof that the person was actually delivered in a hospital in Hawaii.

    Debunked?

Then why did he waste monies to rush to Hawaii to go through all of the manipulations to get the record sealed? DO NOT say to visit his sick mother/grandmother/cat/dog, etc. Michelle debunked that in an interview the same day he went saying the mother/grandmother/cat/dog, etc., was doing just fine. No, he went to make sure that noone could find out that there were NO documents attesting to his live birth in ANY hospital in the state of Hawaii. There were, however, DOZENS of personnel that had checked the hospital records and attested to the fact that Obamaliar had not been delivered in their medical facility.
I get so tired of you ultra liberal, non-thinking stooges keep trying to justify Obamaliar and his policies when all he has done so far is waste a trillion dollars on bailout schemes that were doomed to failure before they even got started, and now wants to waste trillions more on a government mandated medical program that has been shown to be the worst possible ’solution’ in the several countries that have tried it.
Pull your bloody heads out people! investigate what you are talking about before puking up the same b.s. rhetoric that your puppetmasters are spewing!

This makes Rove’s National Guard stew-bait look like a minnow in a whale pool. Nice.

People can believe whatever they want. Some people believe his Kenyan grandmother and the Kenyan ambassador, others believe the Chicago/globalist Obama machine and the MSM. But Obama refuses to release the original. Only a certificate of live birth, which was frequently issued to foreigners, is what has been made available to see.
Seems to me some people are getting nervous enough to pass some law they hope will legitimize Obama.

  139. Ron Orf | July 27th, 2009 at 10:45 pm

Look, I am a DEmocrat and an Obama supporter. As fr as I am concerned his mother was a citizen and so is he unless you go through a lot of legal gyrations looking for loopholes, BUT I will not go about trying to shut up Dobbs because he has a point. “SHOW THE DAMN BIRTH CERTIFICATE!” Not the copy but the REAL one. Geez folks, if there is one show it, if there is not one explain why?

  140. Ron Orf | July 27th, 2009 at 10:48 pm

The notices in the papers ARE hard to explain. Unless they knew 47 years ago he was going to run for president it does not make a lot of sense.

  141. udahman | July 27th, 2009 at 10:49 pm

JennD…finally someone with reason and intelligence. These nonsensical resolutions are waste of time and tax payers dollars…let’s get on with the real tasks at hand…solving unemployment; settling wars; following the leadrship of the Conservatives that have always been the true leaders of this country

  142. udahman | July 27th, 2009 at 10:50 pm

RonOrf – well said…regardless of Party Affilitation you’ve got a point man!

  143. Demi | July 27th, 2009 at 10:52 pm

Some people are afraid of knowing the truth so they try to ridicule and insult those who are seeking the truth. If a president is going to put our troops in harms way, transfer all our money to government, bankers and overseas, expand Bush’s Patriot act, supports indefinite detention and seeks control of the internet, we are entitled to know exactly who this man is. But he doesn’t want us to know.

  144. udahman | July 27th, 2009 at 10:54 pm

Has everyone seen where Dodd & Conrad got sweetheart deals on their re-financed mortgaes from the now insolvent Countrywide…looks like they got favors that were completely illegal…especially Dodd who claimed bBOTH residences as his main residence…which as we all know is completely illegal. Seems the Dems have have been caught completely by the short hairs in this one! Difficult to place blame on a mortgage company for contributing to the sub-prime mortgage fiasco when the so called ‘leading’ dems are taking “under the table’ favors for the company they’re blaming for the cascading downfall of the the financial markets

  145. wildthang | July 27th, 2009 at 10:55 pm

You people are a hoot! When your Repub reps come home for recess, make sure you publicly pin them down on why they are not actively investigating this. And, don’t let them give you some mealy-mouthed answer. Please.

  146. wettwilly | July 27th, 2009 at 10:59 pm

C’MON…wasnt Obamas own grandmother in Kenya vaught on video saying that she saw him born in kenya and that he is A SON OF KENYA!. Boy i bet hes laughing pretty hard about being president. speaking of Obama..what you want to bet that his friend GATES goes the the same anti-white church as Obama.

  147. miv | July 27th, 2009 at 11:03 pm

McCain is white and Natural Born Citizen status was asked of McCain because of his Naval birth place. McCain immediately submitted his long form BC. Palin wasn’t even asked and she submitted her documentation also. This is all a matter of record.

  148. The Mad Marine | July 27th, 2009 at 11:05 pm

John – I have met people like you and tried to talk to them in a logical and sensible manner, but either their white robes or their bald heads and swastikas kept getting in the way of their brains actually functioning.
Why are you such a bigot? One can only deport someone to the country they came from. In the case of most African Americans, that would be the United States! In the case of most of the Latino community that would be the United States!
How about if we gave you a ticket for a plane or ship to let you go to East(?) Germany where you would feel moist at home? We will let you spew all of your filth there. OK?

    RonOrf- Think on this-
If I were the most powerful man in the most powerful nation on earth, with the facilities of the FBI, the CIA, the Secret Service, how hard would it be to get someone to forge a few documents, or rework a few microfiche files to read whatever I needed it to read?

  149. moh | July 27th, 2009 at 11:08 pm

where’s all this child-like fascination of guy’s wanting to see Obama’s birth certificate coming from? Infact, this document is not needed in this case as we all know Ann Dunrham was a Kansas native, which granted all her kids automatic citizenship….

common sense is sooooo lacking nowadays…..

  150. Ted Smith | July 27th, 2009 at 11:10 pm

I have never in my life seen grown people with seemingly so little to do that they have to resort to name calling and bigotry. We all know that Obama’s mother is white and his father is black. What makes him an african american? The same thing that makes him a white man? Does it matter what he calls himself? I don’t think so. What I do see, is that he is trying desperately to destroy our way of life from within and is slowly making progress. Don’t even try to call out the race card since 50/50 is the call here. We need to get the dems to open their eyes and realize that he doesn’t give a rats a*& about you or your neighbors. When you are forced to speak arabic and learn islam guidlines, then you can say you heard it here firs.

  151. The Mad Marine | July 27th, 2009 at 11:13 pm

I don’t know about vaught, wetwilly, but she was definitely caught doing just that. However the ultra liberal Obamaliar supporters, and their puppetmasters, don’t want to recall that point. It might make them have to rethink and regroup, something them leftwingers don’t like to do. Gives them migraines.

  152. Ted Smith | July 27th, 2009 at 11:15 pm

Since the rest of you are seemingly afraid to list your full name, it shows me that you are not comfortable in what you are saying. Remember that your should be os so very careful what you wish for (we all need change) or you just might get it. Just wait and see what this change you wished for will do to you and not for you.

  153. ranman | July 27th, 2009 at 11:19 pm

Why don’t the republicans agree to vote yes as long as the ‘long form’ birth certificate is displayed at the museum.I’m sure Hawaii would love to be able to display such an item.Or better yet,if the democrats will vote yes on McCotters’ resolution the republicans will reciprocate on theirs.

  154. Ted Smith | July 27th, 2009 at 11:19 pm

What a low life way to get the birthplace of Obams certified as Hawaii than make it a rider on the proclamation of their anniversary. I say the whole proclamation should be scrapped and rewritten in a congratulatory manner pertaining to the anniversary of statehood and nothing else. But no, the delirious democrats, have to try to slide it under the door while making it look like the Republicans are the villians if they don’t sign off on it. Get a life dems. You suck.

  155. Ted Smith | July 27th, 2009 at 11:23 pm

Yep. A forged document in the Museum in Hawaii. That is just what the dems need, now isn’t it? They have no real pride in anything else. So they might as well.

  156. mike | July 27th, 2009 at 11:32 pm

hey ted, if your senator or congressman agrees with you then tell them to vote no..if they dont…then your argument is with them, not the dems that put it forward…it is a true proclamation…the 44 president of the united states was born there…prove differently and if you can submit it to your congressman or senator….

  157. mike | July 27th, 2009 at 11:34 pm

he is a sitting elected president…the burden is on you ted not him…he is seated and the proof he provided has been good enough…show us something different..the problem is you cant…so good luck with palin in 2012…

Is it just me or did anyone else notice that on the redacted CoLB long form it said both parents were Caucasian but on the newer CoLB short form it of course shows his mother as caucasian and father as african. Found them at factcheck.org and whistleblower mag. Oh My God! The savior isn’t half black at all!!!

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ann_Dunham

Go here to read how Obamaliars mother lived in Hawaii from 1960 thru 1964 (don’t forget that Obamaliar was born in August of 1961.
I did not doubt Obamaliar was a citizen, BUT he has been lying to the American people for so long that it is necessary that he allow the TRUE birth certificate to be displayed. So what if his mother was 3 months prego when she married his father. In todays society that is nothing to be ashamed of.
But to keep trying to hide his birth certificate form the Americans who doubt his veracity in this matter is, at best, STUPID!

  163. mike | July 27th, 2009 at 11:47 pm

Mia he does not have to produce anything..he is president already..that makes him the 44th president….this will pass without any opposition at all….and you will not get your long form because they have not been issued since the 70s…sorry….nice try though

  164. The Mad Marine | July 27th, 2009 at 11:47 pm

Sorry, MIA, but all that is needed is a smal majority (51%) and it passes. He won’t have to prove anything at all, and, since it is done by voice vote, only the ones that voted will know how they did it. We will likely never know.

  165. mike | July 27th, 2009 at 11:50 pm

hawaii has declared that as long as they have proof you were born in one of their towns or cities you are a citizen..he was born in honolulu and that is good enough and was for more than a landslide of voters…sorry if you are not happy…rally those troops for 2012

  166. Pshna | July 27th, 2009 at 11:55 pm

Talk about your vast minorities. The opinion that we immediately and collectively render education,experience-hell,even scientific fact-insignificant in favor of the mentality that maintains “absence of evidence is evidence of absence” should say enough about this. The fact that we acknowledge, let alone get riled up about this drivel justifies these peoples’ cause. This “theory’s” foundation is no different than that of the 9/11 “conspiracy”,or the moon landing “hoax”,or JFK or even Roswell. It’s really not that spectacular, you just find something that profoundly affected a massive amount of people, look for (or make up) little pissant details, and prey on the public’s fears du jour. Most of the people who support these theories don’t even look at them as theories. They see them as a way to be politically correct, or evidence that the government screwed up royally,or an excuse for ripping on someone,or any number of things.

  167. Mark | July 28th, 2009 at 12:02 am

Obama’s father was a British citizen and his mother may have been too young to pass her citizenship onto him. This really needs to get cleared up. Realize that many of the things that ail this country now are caused by non enforcement.Congress wants to pass new laws on gun control when all they have to do is enforce the ones we have. The borders;I hope many of you got a chance to see the youtube video from the muslim rally held in Detroit.Detroit has the highest population of muslims than any other city in the country.Maybe we need to focus more on the Canadian border.Do not try to pass this off as a non-
issue because it is part of our constitution and should not be taken lightly. And besides he is not black.

TO EVERYONE INTERESTED IN 9/11 THEORIES:

Read this short info and visit the WEB-site link I have provided. It will make the hair on your neck stand up on end:

Here’s a group of over 700 architects and engineers calling for a new investigation into the 9-11 attacks on the wtc. Pretty interesting stuff. They say it has all the earmarks of explosions and controlled demolitions with thermite found in the “dust” in and around ground zero. Now bear in mind this is NOT just some conspiracy theory, but is a conglomeration of over 700 architects and engineers. Makes you wonder what really goes on in this world and just who is pulling the strings.

As soon as I can get some definitive information on this birth certificate issue, I will post it as well. The US is being taken over right in front of our eyes and for the most part, we don’t even know it!! If the DEM’s only truly knew what is going on right now, they would be honestly scared!!

If Obama was really born in Hawaii, why did he spend over #20 million in legal fees to protect the supposed documentation until the “Certificate of Live Birth” could be created? Why didn’t he just follow the law and validate his credentials with Congress like he is supposed to instead of creating an aura of suspicion? Something is still funny there. Why would the Governor lock his “official document” away and not let it be reviewed or inspected?

  176. Heather | July 28th, 2009 at 12:22 am

It’s ridiculous that this even matters enough to be news. The problem isn’t libs versus conservatives or even Obama or Bush, etc. The problem is a broken system that, by its nature, as George Washington predicted, is two party based. Such a backbiting, snipe inducing system is what needs to be eradicated, with direct democracy ridding us of this ridiculous back and forht between many sides of people acting ridiculously. Congrats to the people who wrote this kind of clap trap bill and the people adversely affected by it in any way for managing to never get their minds away from playground level bickering and moving on to things that matter. It makes funny TV and funny blog material, if nothing else.

  178. Mark L | July 28th, 2009 at 12:34 am

People keep saying “all the proof and records have been presented” and that is simply not the case. They absolutely refuse to show his original birth certificate. They claim to have it, but refuse to show it. Simply producing that single piece of evidence would instantly end all debate, and yet they refuse to show it. Insead, there is an endless song and dance of providing anything but the original birth certificate, which they say they have but refuse to produce.

Any elementary kid knows better than to fall for this song and dance. It is no different than if I claim to have a gold coin in my closed hand, but refuse to show it too you. Everytime you ask to see it as proof, I do anything but take the simple action of opening my hand and revealing the proof. I show you pictures of me with the coin yesterday, a picture of the coin at the mint, a picture of the coin in my hand… but no matter what, I refuse to open my hand and simply show you the coin. I am willing to go to great lengths to provide any other type of evidence that don’t fully prove it is currently in my hand, but refuse to take the far simpler action of simply opening my hand and showing you.

Of course, ovbiously, everyone reading this post would not believe that the coin is currently in my hand. Because I am willing to go to great lengths to prove it is, when it would be so simple for me to just open my hand and show you. This is a song and dance that even am 8 year old knows better than to fall for. Obama’s birth certificiate is EXACTLY this same situation.

It has come to the point that the more evidence they offer other than simply showing the original birth certitificate, that evidence is simply more evidence that they have something to hide and the birth certificate would prove that Obama was not born in the US. This is simply logic that any grade school child understands.

At this point, their refusal to simply show the evidence they claim to have, while instead going to far greather, more time consuming, and difficult leghts to “prove” it in any other way… it has just become further proof that Obama was NOT born in the US. Every time they say or do anything than take the simply action of providfing the proof they claim to have, they simply provide more evidence that said birth certificate proves he was NOT born in the US.

Just like the gold coin I claim is currently in my hand, and will anything except take the simple action of opening my hand in my effort to prove it too you.

WE ARE NOT STUPID, the more this song and dance of evasion goes on, the more and more convinced more and more people will be that Obama was not born in the US.

Stop all the BS and JUST SHOW THE DAMN PROOF YOU INSIST YOU HAVE.

This house resolution thing is the ultimate example of going to extreme lengths rather than taking the far more simple action of taking 3 mintues to simply show the proof they insist they have.

  179. Rita Ingram | July 28th, 2009 at 12:42 am

I know you all will not believe me when I say I am not a “birther” but the announcement in the paper if quoted here correctly simply said. “Mr. and Mrs. Barack H. Obama, 6085 Kalanianaole Highway, son, Aug. 4.” maybe I can’t read but I don’t see anything there stating where the baby was born. It does not require that his parents knew he would want to run for President. Just would require an American mother knowing that in the 1960’s (as it still is today) it was far better to be an American then Kenyan. Just ask his half brother George.

  180. Alfred P. Newman | July 28th, 2009 at 12:48 am

I’m an American living in Canada and a registered republican. I was raised in Hawaii and would question the veracity of politicians there, but these look like our old newspapers. I was in high school at the time and remember them well. read ‘em and weep. if he’s hiding something for $$$ it isnt his birthplace.

As for the health care issues…. AMERICA DOESNT WANT SOCIALIZED MEDICINE LIKE CANADA! It is dangerous and has disincentives for fixing you. free enterprise rewards you for being the best or top 1/2 in whatever you do. I’d like to know my doctor cares and is competent. here in canada many are not and get paid the same as the competent ones and the better one get paid less because they see fewer patients doing a proper job. Be careful what you wish for and check out the death rate in canadian hospitals… then check out how much canadians pay in income, services, road, health etc taxes. then do some research into how much of the equipment needed for hospitals is raised by hospital foundations as government cant fund the equipment. Then have a look into how far apart hospitals are often hours away from some pretty large towns, and they dont allow for private doctors unless totally on there own and no fees being paid from taxes. BAD IDEA and this will bankrupt even farther the American middle class as the Rich wont allow it to hurt them (politicians are rich if you didnt know that?). And the poor cant pay for it so middle class. the poor get medical care as it is as illegal for hospitals to turn them away with life threatening illness. And every large city and many small towns have clinics that have free/low cost days/services for qualifying poor people. The ones that dont have care is middle class america which incidentally is both black and white and multi racial more so than upper or lower classes.

Becareful what you ask for before knowing what it will cost and how it might look/taste when you get it.

  189. better study the truth | July 28th, 2009 at 03:34 am

Some people need to study there history on hawaii before they have there heart set on obama being there messiah. First off Hawaii isnt legally a state it was stolen from the native hawaians. The US government lied to the united nations on the annex vote the hawaians were supposed to have 1 of 3 choices on the ballot and was only given 2. Choice 1 become a part of the us Choice 2 be a underlying country (like peurto rico) or 3 stay your own soverign nation but choice 3 was amazingly left off the ballot. So in a essence and legalities obama not matter how you want to look at it is not a US citizen by any criteria. For your reference go look it up in 1993 clinton signed papers admitting hawaii was illegally annexed and in 2003 hawaii petitioned congress that the annexation was illegal and wants to be recognized as the “nation of hawaii” look it up i know i misspelled alot in this but its 330am and im tired but i am so sick of hearing the **** of obama being an american when hes not and also sick of hearing the people who believe hes not are a racist. And also Bush being blamed for everything but i guess they dont want to remember clinton is a democrat and signed NAFTA and alot of other bills that has sent our ecomomy spinning out of control. Untill the day the people quit voting for the 2 people hand picked by congress we the people will suffer. And to all the people who voted for obama what in the hell was you thinking voting for a man hand picked by ted kennedy god help you all because you are gonna need it because obamas eliminating second class so enjoy poverty unless your one of the super rich.

  190. better study the truth | July 28th, 2009 at 03:43 am

  192. gamua | July 28th, 2009 at 05:56 am

All you right nuts, has Obama questioned you own citizenship? Can’t you just accept that you have failed on all lines and let the right people do the job? I’m not american but it amuses me to know what goes on in the brains of racists. Really funny to see people who claim to be Godfearing but yet believe that they stand above certain human beings by virtue of their colour. Just nasty.

  193. Brian | July 28th, 2009 at 07:18 am

OBAMA HAS TO PROVE HIS BIRTH…what is so difficult about that? If I had to prove MY citizenship to get in-state tuition in college, then Obama NEEDS TO PROVE his birthplace to be President of the United States.

MAKE OBAMA PROVE HIS NATURAL-BORN CITIZENSHIP STATUS!

This isn’t rocket-science people, it should just be a long-form piece of paper! Quit spending $1 Million dollars of taxpayer money in defense of proving it, and JUST PROVE IT!

  194. stew mulligan | July 28th, 2009 at 08:02 am

I talked about this issue with a “birther” co-worker and gave him all the arguments and asked WHAT it would take to convince him and he told me “nothing will convince me…I am certain he is NOT an American citizen”.
So, there you have it….whatever proof these nutjobs are given will NOT be enough.
And regardless of how much they scream otherwise it’s all because there’s a “negro” in the Whitehouse and they “want their country back”…..pathetic….and if they weren’t so heavily armed it would be very funny.

If I had the majority of both houses of Congress, and couldn’t get anything passed, I would use this as an excuse to cut my opponents down to my level. Why is Congress worried about a feel-good resolutuion, anyway? They broke the ecconomy, now fix it.

  196. gamua | July 28th, 2009 at 09:35 am

So Brian, how do you think he managed to get it himself? Your words are typical of your type – ignoring facts and repeating the whole **** stuff over and hoping to find some similar nut heads. Well maybe you’ll have luck some day, you can’t change facts by making up things. Period. By the way how do you come to think that you are more american than others. I think this is the wrong forum for you. Isn’t there enough nazi forums out there?

The dems must be happy. This is shaping up very much like the Goldwater-Johnson contest in 1964. The extremist in ‘64 took over the party agenda, and the “know-nothings” anti-everything conspiracy wing got the nomination for Goldwater. Remember “Extremism in the name of liberty is no vice.” The press was the enemy. Of course, Johnson won in a historic landslide. I guess the right wing just can’t help itself, and the moderate Republicans do not have the guts to speak up and disavow the craziness. Like it or not, Obama has his 8.

  199. Smith | July 28th, 2009 at 10:49 am

I had the same experience another writer did in talking with a birther. I sent a web site that completely demolished the birther conspiracy and at the end of the day, he admitted that the facts did not matter–he was a true believer and his mind was made up. For the Democrats, this issue is a win-win. Democrats and moderates are further repelled by the right wingers and the Republicans are weakened further since the nuts have taken over the microphone.

Why not read for yourself what Kenya has to say:

Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the President-elect, Mr. Obama, is a son of the soil of this country. Every other country in this continent is celebrating the Obama win. It is only proper and fitting that the country which he originates from should show the same excitement, pomp and colour. I, therefore, seek leave of the House that we adjourn to discuss the issue.
    http://thebittenword.blogspot.com/2009/01/official-kenyan-national-assembly.html

Kenya is proud to call Obama the son of the soil and Ghana
calls Africa the continent to his birth. Obam should not hide the facts and be proud of his Kenyan birth.

Why are people so concerned about this dictator’s was born and not concerned about the road of Communism he is leading us toward with interference in big business, the auto industry, and the financial institutions? Does no one care about his racist attitude shown by his defense of Professor Gates who went on a rampage toward the Cambridge polce? What about his discriminatory attitude of bias toward a small minority (the wealthy ) to pay for everyone’s health care. Shouldn’t he get these lazy people off there asses to take responsibility for themselves and the decisions they made, like having children they cannot afford? If John McCain would have staed that he was going to tax the blacks, hispanics, or welfare whores to pay for health care, he would have been attacked as being a racist, and not sympathetic to the lazy people of society. Yet, all three of those minorities are larger than those making over $350,000.00. Yet, people are allowing this discrimination to take place, which says to me, that we can discriminatre against certain people, but not others which causes a double standard. If he passes a law aimed at blatant discrimination of a small minority than I for one will never have a problem discriminating against any black, hispanic, homosexual, or other minority who screams for equality and fairness, yet cannot give it to another minority smaller than their own.

Produce the long form birth certificate and this will be over. Why the reluctance to do so? He could end this distraction immediately if he wanted to, but won’t. ( because he can’t????)Until then, there is no legal proof of his place of birth. Skepticism is warranted until this legal document is produced

  203. SassyFrassy | July 28th, 2009 at 03:17 pm

A person cannot even get a DRIVERS LICENSE in this Naiton without producing a birth certificate. So… where does OBAMA & desm get off thinking THEY don’t need to provide the necessary proof of THEIRS??

  204. MIA | July 28th, 2009 at 04:53 pm

Obama is NOT a natural-born citizen, but that is a hard concept for LIBS to grasp because they don’t have a clue what is in the Constitution. He WILL get his comeuppance….in fact, it has already begun! :)

  205. Marie Devine | July 28th, 2009 at 06:11 pm

“Health Director Dr. Chiyome Fukino said Monday she has seen the original birth records that verify Obama was born in Hawaii, and is a “natural-born American citizen.” Natural-born requires two American citizens to be parents. Frank Marshall Davis is American and if the father as earlier stated from a former Hawaii lawsuit won by Andy Martin, he would be a natural born citizen.

That would make his birth certificate that he has shown on the internet to be a fraud as was reported. He was adopted by Lolo Soetoro an Indonesian citizen and lived there about seven years before returning to live with his grandmother while he attended school. His parents were still Indonesian citizens and divorce papers show he was still receiving help with education from his step-father. That makes him ineligible to be president, having dual citizenship at best.

His Selective Service Registration shows many irregularities apparently showing he caused it to be fabricated because at 18 years old he was not a US citizen and did not have to register. When he needed an sss registration for the campaign, evidence shows he had help producing one. Details are at http://obama-birth-cert-forged-sss-impeach.blogspot.com and http://www.divine-way.com/forgery_evidences_sss_reg_colb_birth_cert_for_obama_impeachment.html

Barack Obama deceived voters to gain control of the US government and must be removed along with any he appointed. His policy decisions must be abandoned. If our laws have been corrupted and ineffective leaders in control, then we will be no better off than other nations that had to riot for change. BE AWARE: GUNS WILL MAKE US LOSE CONTROL; IT GIVES THE PRESIDENT AND MILITARY CONTROL OVER US. Prayer and words of truth will overcome lies and deception. It is the promise of God in all holy books.

Hey birthers, this thread is long dead, you ‘moranic’ losers.

  207. Cheryl | July 28th, 2009 at 10:55 pm

@Bryn Perkins: That is NOT a birth certificate. Did you read the fine print at the bottom?

It says, “This copy serves as prima facia evidence (that means proof) of the fact of birth in any court preceding.”

It’s a SUBSTITUTE for a birth certificate that doesn’t exist. A real birth certificate has a seal and doesn’t need the comment of record that it’s to ’serve as proof of birth.’ A birth certificate also usually contains information (in those days) that 1) if child is legitimate or not, who the attending doctor was and if this is the 1st, 2nd, etc. child of this mother.

  208. Bryn Perkins | July 29th, 2009 at 01:01 am

@Cheryl: It’s still proof of birth in Hawaii. His mother is a US Citizen that never renounced said citizenship. Under constitutional law, that makes Obama *gasp!* AN AMERICAN CITIZEN! Imagine that!

  209. gamua | July 29th, 2009 at 02:24 am

This is just a question of colour. But hey you socalled birthers, you’ll have to grumble for 8 years, like it or not. That’s enough time for you to find another old grey haire white man to destroy the economy as is usually the case. For now you have no one that can even trust himself. By the way, why don’t you talk about McCain being born in Panama City? You’re nothing but some frustrated nuts, and there’s no point argueing with you.

Re: “0bama traveled to Pakistan and Kenya before ever receiving a US passport.”

Baloney. Obama had a US passport when he returned from Indonesia to attend school in Hawaii. He may have had a US passport even earlier, when he traveled from Hawaii with his mother to live in Indonesia (though this was possibly on his mother’s passport.) Either way, he or his parents had to prove that he was a US citizen to get a US passport or to be entered on his mother’s passport, and he was.

The allegations that Obama had to travel to Pakistan on an Indonesian passport because Pakistan did not accept US citizens when Obama visited are completely false. In 1981, when Obama visited, Pakistan was relatively peaceful, so peaceful that US newspapers carried travel articles about “scenic Lahore.” Pakistan granted US citizens 30-day visas on arrival at Pakistan’s airports.

Obama was never an Indonesian citizen. Both Indonesia and the US State Department have said that he was never an Indonesian citizen.

if he would just show the country his birth records none of this nonsense and waste of money and time would be necessary. Blame him!!!!! He is costing all of us a lot of money….

  213. Joe | July 30th, 2009 at 03:15 pm

Hawaii may be VERY sorry down the road a few years when it is apparent to all but the extremist of the lefties just how frigging TERRIBLE a President he turned out to be, and history WILL show him in that light. Then they will rue the day this bullshit was perpetuated.

  214. mike | August 1st, 2009 at 10:17 am

cheryl-prima facia evidence is legal for it makes out the case…meaning it is a fully accepted legal document….it does not mean copy..in fact it means the opposite

  215. mike | August 1st, 2009 at 10:19 am

joe-under your theory…nothing can be named after bush…because he is history and we know what he did…..not even an ally somewhere in the desert should be named after that incompetent..
