Gingrich Still Keynoting Congressional GOP’s Big Fundraising Dinner

Republicans like NRSC chief John Cornyn recently condemned Newt Gingrich for claiming that Sonia Sotomayor is “racist,” but Gingrich appears to still be in his colleagues’ good graces.

The big joint fundraising dinner to be held next Monday for the two main Congressional party committees — the NRSC and the NRCC — will still be keynoted by none other than Newt Gingrich.

Additional speakers at the event include GOP leaders such as Mitch McConnell, John Boehner, NRCC chief Pete Sessions, and Cornyn. But the star attraction appears to be Gingrich.

Gingrich yesterday retracted his claim that Sotomayor the person is a racist, though he didn’t appear to back off the claim that she’d said racist things.

Gingrich’s role keynoting the Congressional GOP’s fundraiser, despite the recent controversy over his remarks, is another reminder that his star power and fundraising prowess within the party live on long after he left office. His reach as a national GOP voice continues to exceed that of many current GOP office holders.

The star attraction at the upcoming fundraiser for the Democratic Senate and Congressional committees, of course, is President Obama.

Update: Turns out Gingrich’s keynoting role was previously known. My bad. I’ve edited above to clarify. Still worth reiterating in context of the Sotomayor “racist” comments, though.

I suspect this adulterous, wife-abandoning buffoon will be running for the American Taliban nomination in 2012. Just what we need: A *new* ‘contract on America.’

Yeah, cause Newt is known as such a money-raiser.

    ROFLMAO!

They’ll get the money of course – from terrified rich White Christian men.

Good old Newt has converted to Catholicism to be clensed and forgiven for his past. No doubt he acknowledged that he has been a bad bad boy. I would imagine that a Bishop had counseled Newt due to his high standing as the leader of the Newt Repubtriotic party. One wonders if his Act of Contriction was limited to 5 Hailmary’s and 10 Ourfathers.

“… from terrified rich white wrinkly Christian men…”

O jzap – we could keep going: “from terrified rich white wrinkly impotent Christian men.”

or “…terrifed rich white wrinkly impotent and latent homosexual Christian men.”

Even a disgraced Republican can shake his money maker.
    Shake it Newtie!
