Fred Thompson: Don’t Forget Me, I Want Obama To Fail, Too

Fred Thompson (R-Tennessee Retirement Community) gets in on the act in an interview with CNN’s John Roberts:

“I want his policies that I believe take us in the wrong direction to fail,” Thompson told Roberts on CNN’s American Morning.

“If he takes us down the road of tripling our national debt in ten years and making us vulnerable to higher interest rates and higher inflation, and things of that nature, I want all those policies not to succeed,” he said.

I asked DNC spokesperson Hari Sevugan for a response. “After that presidential campaign, Fred Thompson knows a thing or two about failure,” Sevugan joked.

Calling for Obama to fail does seem to guarantee airtime even to retired Republicans these days.

Well, since no one is offering any alternatives for the most part (receivership aside- which Repugs certainly aren’t for- for the most part) how can you say that you want Obama’s policies to fail? If Obama’s policies fail, being the only ones out there, then the country fails. These answers are a dodge. Repugs want the whole damn country to fail so the can seize control- it’s there only shot at doing so.

It seems to me that the steady parade of GOPers (now including drowsy ol’ Freddy T.) fanning bogus fears of what Obama’s bold, innovative, forward-thinking policies might mean for the future of this country, are actually far more concerned about the deleterious effect their success will have on the future of the GOP. A more dissembling, disingenuous, self-serving bunch I’ve never seen.

More proof that the Rep party is controlled by Rush Limbaugh.

Investments in education and healthcare (with a focus on healthy living/preventative health care) would take upwards of 20 years to “pay off”. Energy investment would take ten years to start reaping the benefits.
    .
I wish Obama would sell and even brand his budget as an “Investment in America”.
    .
Folks invest up front money to better insulate their house, knowing it’s a pocketbook hit in the present, but 5-6 years down the road the savings will have paid off the initial investment, and from there on out the savings is like money in the bank.
