Will Lefty Web Get Any Credit For Lou Dobbs Ouster?
When right wing bloggers got Dan Rather fired from CBS, traditional news orgs widely hailed the role of right blogostan in exposing the shortcomings of Rather’s story on Bush and the National Guard and gave the right full credit for bringing him down.
Now that Lou Dobbs — also a major media figure — has quit CNN, it remains to be seen whether the online left will get anywhere near the same level of credit.
Whatever you think of Media Matters, there’s no denying that the group led a campaign against Dobbs that had to have played some kind of role in his departure. CNN president Jonathan Klein reportedly told Dobbs months ago that he wanted Dobbs to tone down his opinions. It’s hard to imagine that the constant drumbeat of attention paid by Media Matters, Think Progress, HuffPo, TPM and other sites to Dobbs’ more outlandish opinions — and the damage they were doing to CNN’s news brand — didn’t put Klein and CNN on edge.
Media Matters tends to evoke sneers from mainstream media types. But some smart reporters understand that Media Matters has had an impact simply by trafficking in information — by carefully, systematically, comprehensively, and relentlessly documenting the more lurid rhetoric of the right, and putting it on display in one place for all to see.
Whatever Dobbs’ specific motives for quitting, that’s what happened here: The amount of questionable rhetoric slowly piled up, like snow on a roof, until its implications could no longer be ignored. Other sites amplified the noise, exacerbating the network’s discomfort.
Yet in today’s Times piece on Dobbs’ decision there’s not a single mention of the role the campaign against Dobbs played in his departure. Howard Kurtz was a bit better, noting the “Dump Dobbs” campaign by liberal groups high up in his story.
It’s hard to know precisely how influential the campaign against Dobbs was in bringing about his departure. But given how quickly the right wing blogosphere was assigned credit for Rather’s downfall, it seems like there’s an untold media story here that’s worth looking into. Dobbs is a pretty big score.
************************************
Update: A colleague points out that Hispanic groups and the BastaDobbs campaign also played a major role in drumming up a lot of anti-Dobbs noise.

Which of the following would you like to see President Obama do – increase the number of U.S. troops in Afghanistan by the roughly 40,000 the U.S. commanding general there has recommended, increase the number of U.S. troops in Afghanistan but by a smaller amount than the 40,000 the U.S. commanding general there has recommended, keep the number of U.S. troops in Afghanistan the same as now, begin to reduce the number of U.S. troops in Afghanistan?
35% Increase troops by 40,000
7% Increase troops by less than 40,000
7% Keep the number of troops the same
44% Begin to reduce number of troops
Ethan, ouster of Dobbs is a very big story!
A Huge Contractor Scandal Coming Out Of Afghanistan.
Contractors are bribing The Taliban not to attack supply routes.
In other words; The US Government is paying Mercenary/Contractors, and therefore Federal money is being given to The Taliban. So, while the Pentagon claims that it needs more Troops to eradicate The Taliban, they are actually funneling Federal Tax money to The Taliban.
Too bad that The Taliban are not Pro-Abortion, and we could then prevent them from getting Federal money.

Excerpt:
“Welcome to the wartime contracting bazaar in Afghanistan. It is a virtual carnival of improbable characters and shady connections, with former CIA officials and ex-military officers joining hands with former Taliban and mujahedeen to collect US government funds in the name of the war effort.
In this grotesque carnival, the US military’s contractors are forced to pay suspected insurgents to protect American supply routes. It is an accepted fact of the military logistics operation in Afghanistan that the US government funds the very forces American troops are fighting. And it is a deadly irony, because these funds add up to a huge amount of money for the Taliban. “It’s a big part of their income,” one of the top Afghan government security officials told The Nation in an interview. In fact, US military officials in Kabul estimate that a minimum of 10 percent of the Pentagon’s logistics contracts–hundreds of millions of dollars–consists of payments to insurgents.
Understanding how this situation came to pass requires untangling two threads. The first is the insider dealing that determines who wins and who loses in Afghan business, and the second is the troubling mechanism by which “private security” ensures that the US supply convoys traveling these ancient trade routes aren’t ambushed by insurgents. “
Mr. Sargent:
“When right wing bloggers got Dan Rather fired from CBS, traditional news orgs widely hailed the role of right blogostan in exposing the shortcomings of Rather’s story on Bush’s national guard and gave the right full credit for bringing him down.
Now that Lou Dobbs — also a major media figure — has quit CNN, it remains to be seen whether the online left will get anywhere near the same level of credit.”
Nope.
Not that it’ll matter one bit. The Moonbat Sweat Lodge will declare victory and perform it’s self-congratulatory moon dance.
Are you trying to claim some kind of equivalence between exposing a bogus hatchet-job on an incumbent President right before an election using clearly counterfeited documents, and a politically-motivated concerted b-i-t-c-h fest because SOME organizations and partisans don’t like Dobbs’ positions?
Did Dobbs manufacture stories out of whole cloth?
(No, I’m REALLY asking, I don’t watch CNN…either).
If he didn’t, there’s nowhere near the “gotcha” that Charles Johnson and LGF claimed.
There’s also another shoe waiting to drop…namely what Dobbs does next.
If he goes over to Fox for a big heaping wad of cash, that will be the proof of the pudding that Media Matters done thrown Bre’r Rabbit Lou into Uncle Rupert’s Briar Patch.
Contrast that with Dan Rather, who last I heard was wielding a bottle of Windex and a squeegee and washing car windshields at the intersection down the block from CBS World headquarters.
@Greg
I dunno know if it’s a “big story”, but you’re right when you say that the Traditional Media gave all the credit to right-blogs, and are wonderfully silent on Media Matters role in Dobb’s takedown.
The reason the TradMedia sneers at Media Matters is really centered around one thing…no one likes being caught saying something stupid. And for the longest time, political pundits and “mainstream” reporters said some really stupid stuff and got away with it. It became second nature – there was no accountability. The stories moved so fast and memories were so short, everyone focused on what the narrative was, and not how the narrative was being shaped.
Now Media Matters points out all the little things that people do, and all the careless things people say, and puts them in one place. And it’s not flattering. They don’t sneer out of anger really, it’s shame and embarrasment.
Bilgeman, I actually agree with you that it’s not a perfect parallel. But the fact remains that the lefty Web did, in fact, play a role in Dobbs’ ouster. I’m curious to see whether traditional news orgs will acknowledge that fact.
Never quite understood the lefty hatred of Dobbs.
He hated Bush and ripped him on a regular basis.
BBQ — agreed — it’s the fact that MM displays this stuff that has gotten them so hated
This blog is going to hell. Who gives a rat’s arse about this Dobbs’ guy.
We have huge national issues at stake, and all this blog seems to want to focus on is inside baseball minutia, like this Dobbs rubbish.
THE US IS FUNDING THE TALIBAN,
And NationaL Health Care Reform Is on The Anvil,
But we must talk about some clown with a tiny viewer ship.
Can we get back to dealing with issues that matter.
http://www.thenation.com/doc/20091130/roston
Liam — what the heck are you talking about? Yesterday there were multiple posts about the Fort Hood shooting and Afghanistan and the 2010 elections. Health care reform is nonstop topic here.
Hahaha
What MMA does is post a billion “stories” that say things like,
“CNN Reports on Bush Without Noting He is The Devil”
“CBS Interviewer Fails to Ask Boehner When He Stopped Beating His Wife”
“Rush Limbaugh Yet Again Fails to Acknowledge Obama’s Greatness”
“Dobbs Assails Illegal Immigration Without Noting that Not All Immigrants Are Illegal”
Laughable stuff.
Conservative bloggers proved that Dan Rather ran an “expose” based on patently forged documents claimed to have been typed over 30 years ago but obviously created on MS Word’s default template.
Not quite the same.
@Bilgeman
The continual support that Dobbs gave to Birther conspiracy theories ranks way above whatever Rather did with the Bush Documents. Lost in the fray over the documents is that the underlying facts that Bush skipped out on his commitments to the champagne brigade in the air national guard, skipped drug tests, and generally acted like the entitled political royalty that he is. Dobbs pushed a totally discredited conspiracy theory that has been disproved multiple times. The underlying facts are all against Dobbs.
How does the statement — Illegal aliens are bring in leprosy — compare to Dan Rather’s neglecting to fact check a document?
One was a blatant lie …. the other was laziness.
Dobb’s words were cruel and hateful. The right got rid of Rather because he said something they ‘didn’t like’ about Bush’s poor performance report.(I guess we can see how close that was the truth now)
BIG difference
Ethan:
Interesting piece in the Nation, but I want to highlight something they closed with:
“The trouble is that–as with so much in Afghanistan–the United States doesn’t seem to know how to fix it. ”
They are either being disingenuous or obtuse…fix WHAT?
Welcome to Afghanistan!
This is what they are, this is what they do, this is what they have ALWAYS done.
These cats have been jacking convoys since the days of camel caravans, f’chrissakes! The Nation thinks this is a “bug” to be fixed?
I might be able to “negotiate” some more “favorable terms” with the banditry who were Taliban yesterday, and are pro-Western today.
Have a convoy not pay the baksheesh and make the run, and surveil it’s route and it’s progress.
When the UAV sees an ambush being set up, dial up a few JDAM cluster bombs from the orbiting B-52’s, then send in some gunships to chop up the merely wounded, and then some infantry to bag and tag,(or hike and spike, if you will).
Afghanistan is, and always has been a brutal place.
There’s another consideration, if these “gentlemen” get a taste for Yankee money, (and make no mistake, a lot of that money comes right back to the USA), they might be induced to deliver Osama bin-Laden’s scrotum to us.
(He can keep his sheloobies…give him something to hold in his hands other than a rifle).
A dirty and nasty business ground war is.
If you want to enjoy a good steak, stay out of the slaugherhouse.
Dan Rather didn’t “neglect to fact check a document.”
He ran a smear story weeks before the election that was based on documents that were PATENTLY FORGED that he received from a known Democrat crackpot.
The whole story was a “blatant lie” and Rather and Mapes only way they couldn’t have known it was if they gullible five year olds.
As you said, “BIG difference.” Rather’s was the worst journalistic fraud in living memory, and it was malicious in every respect.
You guys realize Bilge is a birther right? He would be thrilled that Dobbs coddled the lunatic fringe teabaggers.
Thanks for some of the Lou Dobbs back-story, Greg. I have no idea how to apportion blame/credit for his departure among his Left Blogostan critics. I’ve got to think, though, that KO’s almost nightly skewering of Dobbs played a part, too.
Question in my mind is, will CNN continue to pay attention to the quality of its reporting? I mean, Wolf Blitzer is a pea-brain, but hardly much worse than, say, David Gregory and many others.
They’re probably following the example of how the US bought off the Sunnis in Iraq, which was largely responsible for the apparent success of the “surge”.
Past tense?
mike from Arlington… yeah. I think the “Alleged Hawaiian” was a tip.
I don’t know what Dobbs has said about Obama’s origins. Aside from place of birth, it is likely that Obama’ actually isn’t eligible to be President simply because his father was a British subject and not a US citizen. That’s the most likely meaning of natural born citizen. But it’s water under the bridge.
In any event, that position is plausible, while Dan Rather’s hoax was just a flat-out hoax.
@Greg: “The fact remains that the lefty Web did, in fact, play a role in Dobbs’ ouster. I’m curious to see whether traditional news orgs will acknowledge that fact.”
You keep saying these are facts – Can you back that up? Did Dobbs say he left because of lefty blog pressure? Did CNN say he quit due to the pressure of lefty blogs? Did CNN admit they were concerned about what the lefty blogs were saying so they asked Dobbs to resign?
BTW, I honestly can’t remember – did Rather quit (like Dobbs) or was Rather fired?
Wow the WH has a lot on it’s plate:
“Speaking with GQ in October, Dobbs said he had been personally targeted by the Obama administration and its allies in Washington and even suggested that the White House had requested his ouster.”
http://tpmlivewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/2009/11/did-dobbs-leave-cnn-because-of-president-obama.php?ref=fpblg
For liam regarding buying off Taliban: Part of the original Af-Pak strategy was to encourage the Afghan government to work with moderate elements of the Taliban insurgency.
“Encouraging Afghan government efforts to integrate reconcilable insurgents
“While Mullah Omar and the Taliban’s hard core that have aligned themselves with al Qaeda are not reconcilable and we cannot make a deal that includes them, the war in Afghanistan cannot be won without convincing non-ideologically committed insurgents to lay down their arms, reject al Qaeda, and accept the Afghan Constitution.”

Not quite the same thing as contractors paying off those who attack caravans but I think you can get the drift. We already pay off the families of those innocents we kill by mistake…
Liam, Ethan, here you go: Afghanistan post

“Ethan, ouster of Dobbs is a very big story!”
I agree! Thanks!
Please excuse my occasional OT’ness.
Lou Dobbs was mild compared to Rush Limbaugh. Now Media Matters has to push for the removal of Rush!
The reason the right wingers can’t stand Media Matters is because by posting accurate transcripts or links to actual videos, they totally undercut the ability of on-air bigots and liars like Dobbs to distort the public record.
Dobbs is a xenophobic bigot who accused illegal aliens of spreading leprosy. No empirical facts to back up his outrageous claims, just pure bigoted fiction extracted from his blow hole. Those who watch such drivel would never question anything they heard from Dobbs, so they accept such garbage. Media Matters, other sites and cable networks, have not allowed the bigotry to go unchallenged. For that sin they are labeled heretics.
What the right disdains is anyone who would dare to question their oracles. Sycophantic fealty is part and parcel to sustaining the cognitive dissonance within the echo chamber. Those who question THE TRUTH are therefore, the enemy.
Bilge, QB: Bush was/is a lily-livered overgrown frat boy who begged ‘Daddy’ to keep him out of the Army, then skipped on the Guard!!! Give us a break with your ‘forged documents’. That dope is down in McMansion Dallas (having abandoned his vinyl-siding ‘ranch’ at 12:01 pm last Jan. 20) living in richly-deserved exile as the most reviled President in 60 years.
Notice that the right never even alleged that the substance of Rather’s story — that Bush never fulfilled his obligations to the military, and thus was, and always will be, a draft dodger who supported the war for others. This is because Rather’s story was manifestly true, and the document alleged to be false was not even particularly central to it. And notice that the righty slow-wits do not do so now. They jump up and down about a barely relevant document. Telling, isn’t it?
So, righty dullards, there’s your lack of parallel between the stories. Forget that Sargent’s point was something else entirely, which only too predictably was still on its way up when it passed over your heads.
quarterback,
Your statement that President Obama, “actually isn’t eligible to be President simply because his father was a British subject and not a US citizen” is simply inaccurate. Having one foreign born parent does not disqualify offspring from obtaining U.S. citizenship at birth.
No matter the nationality of Barack Obama’s father, his mother was a U.S. citizen. According to the principle of jus sanguinis (right of blood), so long as at least one parent is a U.S. citizen, a child born to that parent is a U.S. citizen by birth. Since President Obama was born in Hawaii, the principle of jus sanguinis (right of blood) also confers upon him U.S. citizenship by birth. There is not a shred of factual evidence that contradicts the validity of his citizenship on either count and copious evidence which supports it.
For one who often excoriates others for not being accurate or citing empirical evidence to back up claims, you certainly aren’t practicing what you preach.
The “birther” conspiracy nonsense has no validity at all. It has been struck down in court and it has been throughly discredited online and in all other media.
Come up with a more plausible rationale for your rants.
“When right wing bloggers got Dan Rather fired from CBS, traditional news orgs widely hailed the role of right blogostan in exposing the shortcomings of Rather’s story on Bush and the National Guard and gave the right full credit for bringing him down.
Now that Lou Dobbs — also a major media figure — has quit CNN, it remains to be seen whether the online left will get anywhere near the same level of credit.”
Well, of course not – because you only give “credit” for good things, and Lou Dobbs’s leaving will be seen as a terrible tragedy.
Gasbag,
You are misinformed or underinformed as usual. The constitutional requirement is not citenship but “natural born” citizenship. There is quite strong, I would say rather compelling, historical evidence that this requires both parents to be citizens at one’s birth.
I’m no great expert on the matter, but I’ve read some fairly detailed historical evidence on the question. And there was a previous President, Arthur, I believe, whose parentage was allegedly obscured for this very reason.
Sorry, but you were wrong yet again. If you read before spouting off, you might not continually say such misinformed things. I know, though, you would rather just spout off about “birther nonsense” and what you imagine it means. I am so weary of your pathetic attempts to catch me in something.
LOL, Gasbag, I just read you little love letter to MMA. What a laugh, after I so wrecked you peddlecart of MMA lies about Fox just last week. MMA is hilariously irrelevant.
Yeah, sure, they are going to drive Rush off the air by posting transcripts of his shows, which are broadcast across the country every day. You guys are too much.
Btw, Gasbag, I don’t excoriate posters for inaccuracy or not supplying empirical evidence.
I criticize those who lie. Those who make wild and scurrilous claims about matters about which they have little or no knowledge. Those who are patently hypocritical. All of which are SOP for posters here like you.
Aloha!
Just dropped in via link from TPM. Looks like you have some fun trolls here, think I’ll stick around!
jakebob
I doubt they will acknowledge it because to acknowledge it will admit that the progressive groups have power.
Time magazine makes no mention of the 80 advertisers that left Glenn Beck in their glowing story about him.
They focused on his great ratings. But the don’t explain how these great ratings will equal more money for Fox. If fact nobody bothered to question NewCorp on this issue during their Q1 conference call. “Has the bump in Glenn Beck’s ratings after losing 80 advertisers lead to greater revenue overall for Fox? Could you please prove it with audited figures? How long will Fox subsidize Glenn Beck?”
The Glenn Beck attacks on Van Jones are no accident.(Van Jones was co-founder of Color of Change the group that lead the advertiser alert program) That is revenge. Maybe they feel justified in their destruction but I would like to see more stories in the media at least acknowledge that attacking Van Jones wasn’t random.
And to sbj above, one thing I know about corporations is that they are under no obligation to tell you the real reason something happened. They can quote, “personnel matters” give a bland response like, “spending more time with their family” or say it is for vague reasons because there are no consequences for lying.
In 2008 when Melanie Morgan didn’t have her contract renewed by Citadel Broadcasting it was claimed that the reason was an overall slowdown in advertising. But if you actual look at the financial documents they point to the money lost in San Francisco as one of the places they lost money. Now there are only two Citadel stations in San Francisco, KGO and KSFO and KGO hasn’t lost money in years. KSFO lost 28 advertisers and got international bad PR when they had my blog shut down for exposing their violent rhetoric.
The advertisers and money they lost was because of a campaign that I organized that alerted advertisers of the violent rhetoric from KSFO hosts. Greg wrote about the kind of violent comments Morgan made about journalists so he will remember what I’m talking about.
If the organizations in question don’t have to answer truthfully and there is no hard evidence then they will just take the word of the organization. They are not under oath.
I had proof that multiple advertisers had left KSFO and when asked Morgan said that “only one had left” that was a blatant lie and the New York Times mentioned it, they didn’t have to say, “She’s lying” just run the proof next to her comment.
Unless a memo leaks or there is some lawsuit with depositions we will never know what the hard reasons were for Dobbs and CNN to split. But the preponderance of evidence should be noted.
“You are misinformed or underinformed as usual. The constitutional requirement is not citenship but “natural born” citizenship. There is quite strong, I would say rather compelling, historical evidence that this requires both parents to be citizens at one’s birth.”
Pot calling the milk black. He was born in Hawaii after it became a state, his mother was a citizen, that’s all that’s needed. There was no law, at the time of his birth, stating anything like “only someone born to parents, both of whom are American citizens, is considered a natural-born citizen”.
“I’m no great expert on the matter, …”
Yes, and you should have quit while you were “ahead”.
“There is quite strong, I would say rather compelling, historical evidence that this requires both parents to be citizens at one’s birth.”
I wasn’t aware that evidence is now considered law. Which Amendment is that again? The 31st?
Snap,
Just saw your tirade. You’re just spouting bs. The Rather smear story was factually unsubstantiated and shown to be untrue in many respects. Ever stop to think that if all the facts in the forged documents had been independently proven we might have seen that story and all that evidence? With no need for forged documents?
If you are just going to make stuff up, you’ll need to be more careful about it. But nice try on the “fake but accurate” schtick.
To quarterback,
Try changing your name to something more appropriate – “water boy” or “equipment manager” will work.
“Now that Lou Dobbs — also a major media figure — has quit CNN, it remains to be seen whether the online left will get anywhere near the same level of credit.
Whatever you think of Media Matters, there’s no denying that the group led a campaign against Dobbs that had to have played some kind of role in his departure.”
This is total garbage. The right deservedly gets credit for bringing down Rather because they did the legwork and found out he used fake documents in a tranparent attempt to influence a presidential election. And you are comparing this to Dobbs stepping down for an as yet undisclosed reason, and asking the lefties who did not but complain get credit for it? Now are the two situations even remotely similar? Dobbs is the one who negotiated the end of his contract. He wasn’t fired because of the the agitations of the intolerant left. And even if he were, you have no way of knowing that. Trying to draw some sort of equivalence between the two episodes is absolutely pathetic and is completely unwarranted, at least until it is determined why Dobbs stepped down.
There is no denying Media Matters made a difference? Yes there is.
Hopefully he will go to Fox News where he will have a much, much larger audience and will thus have the ability to piss off Media Matters and the other morons who tried to have him ousted from CNN even more than he already did.
quarterback,
If you extract your head from whatever ******* you park it in, you might realize that both jus sanguinis and jus soli confer the status of “natural born” citizenship. That is all that is required. A bit of research on your part would confirm this. Oh, that’s right. You don’t do research, you simply erupt.
As for Chester Arthur, you are citing as evidence something from two centuries ago. Immigration law is not static, it changes fairly frequently. You might want to move your clock forward to the 21st Century. You might want to get a law degree from something other than a box of Cracker Jacks before you hang out your shingle.
While you wax philosophical over Media Matters, would you care to comment on Sean Hannity’s blatant lie as he showed footage from Beck’s MENSA-fest to make Bachmann’s MENSA-fest attendance appear much larger than it was? Aren’t you the one who so viciously defends the honor and integrity of FauxNews? If Hannity and Bachmann’s numbers were honest, why do they need to use phony footage to inflate the size of the crowd – and put leaves back on the trees?
Less knee jerk idiocy would make you seem like less of an idiot. Not much, but it would be a start.
OK, Greg, this filter is a bit too paternal.
O*R*I*F*I*C*E
Okay, doofus,
Care to provide your evidence that it was “Hannity’s blatant lie” rather than a simple video room error??? Of course not. You never have proof of any of your histrionic claims. Because you are among other things a world-class hypocrite who just “erupts” without basis or research or even common sense.
Shall we start labeling all errors of your heros Ubermoron, MSNBC and MMA “blatant lies”? No proof needed, just wild assertion.
That’s a little problematic, isn’t it, since just last week I proved that you were peddling a blatantly false story from MMA? A blatant lie by MMA, let’s call it.
And, doofus, allow me to explain something about the Constitution. The meaning of its terms and provisions does not change as “immigration law” changes. Are you able to understand that? It isn’t rocket science or anything.
The Constitution doesn’t say just “citizen.” It says “natural born citizen,” and the evidence is quite strong that that term’s historical meaning is a citizen both of whose parents were citizens. Why would that be? Obviously, to prevent any possibility of divided loyalties.
I won’t even bother to go into other details of your obvious ignorance of citizenship law. Your statement that “both jus sanguinis and jus soli confer the status of “natural born” citizenship” is simply wrong. It isn’t a matter of what you, Gasbag the Constitutional Doofus, think “natural born citizen” should mean, or what you think confers citizenship under current immigration law. It is obvious that you have done no research or reading on the matter, or if you have you characteristically were hampered by severe deficits of comprehension and reasoning ability.
I know, what the Constitution actually says doesn’t matter to you, since you are just a liberal crackpot to whom it is nothing but a piece of paper you can read any way that suits your fancy — as proven by your suggestion that “evidence from 200 years ago” is irrelevant to the meaning of the Constitution, because “[i]mmigration law is not static, it changes fairly frequently.”
That is possibly the most idiotic thing you’ve said to date. You seriously think you can argue that the meaning of the Constitution changes as statutory law changes??? You indeed are a doofus.
As for law degrees, I am pretty confident the one I have is a lot shinier than the one you obviously don’t have, seeing that I was admitted to all of the top schools and graduated with high honors from the one of my choosing.
Care to keep making a fool of yourself? You truly seem obsessed with it.
“As for law degrees, I am pretty confident the one I have is a lot shinier than the one you obviously don’t have, seeing that I was admitted to all of the top schools and graduated with high honors from the one of my choosing.”
And yet, here you are.
It’s funny, but the professionals I’ve known who went to “top” law, medical, engineering, etc. schools – both grad and undergrad – don’t really feel a big need to shout to the world how big their (figurative) ****** is.
Maybe I just hang out with the wrong type of people.
Of course, I guess there’s an alternate explanation. With your bright shiny JD (or whatever), I’m sure you can come up with something.
And yet, here you are, SFAW. Hanging with all those important, powerful people, but here you are dishing juvenile insults.
Nothing better to do?
Two observations about you:
1. You have consistently supported torture.
2. You are a birther.
The first point indicates that you lack respect for human rights and domestic and international law. Torture is illegal in this country and virtually everywhere else.
The second point indicates that you are a moron. The Republican Governor of Hawaii, and Hawaii’s Secretary of State have certified the validity of Obama’s birth certificate. It has been available on the web for more than a year. Not a single court has deemed the challenges which you echo to be remotely credible, yet you persist in tilting at this particular windmill.
How is President Obama not a “natural born” citizen? You fail to make the case at all.
If you are a lawyer you are a very bad one. Not only do you advocate violating domestic and international law, but you that seem unable to divine information that should be clear to any Law 101 student. If you are the legal scholar you claim to be, how come your legal opinions sound like they were written by that other birther legal scholar of note, Orly Taitz?
You constantly hurl your tiny thunderbolts of invective at anyone, about anything that offends your delicate sensibilities. You constantly, predictably, rail when others do not cite enough factual evidence to support their arguments to your standards. When do you ever reciprocate? Facts are apparently what you say they are. Quarterback speaks: QED.
I have no illusions about persuading you. You are inflexible. You are a disciple of Dick Cheney and Orly Taitz. That sums up the content of your character and intellect.
“And yet, here you are, SFAW”
Gee, with all your immense legal prowess, one would think you’d have a better response than “I know you are, but what am I?” But, seeing as how that’s a typical wingnut response, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. But I am disappointed.
“Hanging with all those important, powerful people, …”
If your equating “I’ve known” to “hanging with” is a good indicator, then I would say your reading comprehension is not quite good enough to pass muster. It also gives us insight into the quality of your “research” and your understanding of the “evidence” regarding “natural born citizen”.
“…but here you are dishing juvenile insults. ”
No, saying your pee-pee is teeny-weeny would be juvenile. (Not infantile, because infants don’t generally know those terms yet.) Or, perhaps if I called you “doofus”, that would be juvenile.
But highlighting that the old saying “Them’s that’s talking about it the most are doing it the least” as it might possibly relate to your pronouncement(s) of your legal prowess, etc., etc., is not juvenile. Accurate, perhaps, but not juvenile.
Ouarterback: Your ctizenship diatribe is in error. It is wrong. Obama is legally president. You make those of us who support a conservative agenda and have concerns about Obama’s policies look like idiots. Please, get the facts and enlighten yourself, or shut up!
The U.S. Supreme court has ruled otherwise. See U.S. v. WONG KIM ARK, 169 U.S. 649 (1898).

If “John” above is a real conservative, I’d like to thank him for calling out the right wing extremists that deeply shame themselves by questioning American born Obama’s citizenship.
Seriously, when did Obama’s Kansas born mother become get redistricted outside of the right wing neo-confederate’s shrinking ‘real America’?
Right winger “quarterback”: “Never quite understood the lefty hatred of Dobbs.”
“quarterback” is the buddy of “bilgeman”, the commenter that wants to return America back to literally the days of slavery.
Neo-confederate’s of a feather… apparently like to pretend that blatant racism isn’t blatant racism.
As for CNN, between launching the TV careers of both the right wing teabagging Mad Hatter Glenn Beck AND the right wing racist Lou Dobbs, CNN has outed itself as a corporate-right-wing enabling hack of a channel.
Very sad.
that’s the problem ppl don’t want to hear the truth Lou Dobbs I’m for the truth and that’s what you given us the truth keep up the good work
Wow! There are some ignorant people here! For the record quarterback (an your ilk) you are wrong, you have been wrong, you continue to be wrong. Obama meets the qualifications to serve as president. If you doubt this you might want to examine the recent court case brought by a member of our military who tried to argue that Obama was not. His case was thrown out of court and the plantiff ridiculed by the judge. Since this a legal matter, it has been settled “legally”. You are wrong, you are a fool, you can continue to post if you want but this matter was settled long ago. You are an idiot. I think your mother and your sister might be the same person. Now listen you in bred hicks. Stop listening to right wing radio and read a friggin book.
what a cocaphony all these comments are- Dobbs left because he got leprosy (his maid’s name is gonzalez)
Clearly Obama was not a natural born citizen, because spawn of Satan are hatched, not born. Or so goes the birther orthodoxy

No one has addressed another significant point. Does the left blogsphere want credit for ousting Lou Dobbs? Maybe it is better to fly under the radar screen and still get things done that to be too public and feed the Right’s paranoia.
