House Dems Bracing For Huge Turnout At Glenn Beck/Tea Party Gathering
Looks like there’s serious concern among Dems about the big 9/12 rally that’s being heavily promoted by Glenn Beck, Fox, and the tea partiers for tomorrow.
A top House Dem leadership aide has emailed a memo to Dem aides on the Hill and outside liberal groups warning they should brace for a turnout of up to two million people, suggesting Dems worry that if enough conservatives descend on the Mall it will amount to a major PR victory for the right.
The aide, Doug Thornell, warned in the memo that the dust-up over Joe “you lie” Wilson has been invigorating conservatives. “It looks like Saturday’s event is going to be a huge gathering, estimates ranging from hundreds of thousands to 2 million people,” Thornell wrote in the memo, which was forwarded by a source.
In another sign of concern, the memo painstakingly detailed a range of turnout predictions from the event’s organizers, such as this one from tea party leaders promising a crowd of up to 1,000,000.
Adding to Dem concern is the fact that Beck recently claimed a major victory in the ouster of former green jobs adviser Van Jones.
The House leadership memo predicting huge turnout could have been written in hopes that it would leak and inflate expectations for turnout, anticipating that it will fall far short. But Dems on the Hill insist they’re genuinely worried about what tomorrow will bring.
***************************************
Update: Thornell is actually an aide to Chris Van Hollen, not Pelosi. Aplogies for the error. He’s still a senior House leadership aide, however.
Update II: The full memo is right here.

I just can’t get that excited by that. It will most likely be very ugly with ugly signs about Obama that people have seen all Summer. Plus the weather SUCKS right now in DC with win and rain. It just won’t be that great.
It’s also a security issue. Hopefully the organizers thought enough to make sure there is adequate security.
But I still don’t believe that this will rival the inauguration though. We shall see
Can’t wait to see all of those signs!
I’ll be one of the two million, then! It’s time to take the country back from far-leftists, regardless of their race, creed, or religion.
O come on.
since when has the right ever ever ever ever ever had a million people show up?
The Town Hall crowds looked so huge – they weren’t that big by and large.
I suppose being prepared for something big is a good idea because it’s so cool when it doesn’t happen.
and I can almost guarantee that a million people are not coming to the Mall.
Now if I’m wrong, I’ll be the first to admit it. But I’ll sure be damned surprised if I am.
The inauguration was such a POSITIVE time for our country. The tea party protest will be VERY NEGATIVE and UGLY. It will turn off independents who want to bring this country together.
Plus Obama won’t be in DC but in Minnesota for his own rally.
Obama is doing a townhall in Minneapolis tomorrow. Hopefully the “media” wil focus on that and steal their thunder. It doesn’t really matter though because no matter how many people turn out, they won’t rival the 68 million people who showed up to vote for Obama. No matter what that lunatic Glen Beck says, it is WE WHO SURROUND THEM! Besides, I’m actually hoping for the most offensive signs. With several of the GOP showing up to speak, let’s hope it proves even more embarrassing.
There better be a lot of porta potties and Depends vendors for all the angry old white people.
The Tea Party should form its own party! We keep waiting for Republicans to something! They are weak and most are not even real conservatives!!! We THE PEOPLE must be heard!!!!
no matter how many people turn out, they won’t rival the 68 million people who showed up to vote for Obama. ”
That, my love, is the bottom line. We won the election by a large popular majority.
The Repugs just don’t seem to get it but: They Lost.
Oh, and Bart….the way to take back your country is with votes and your side seems to be suffering from shrinkage. I’m sure you can relate!
Again, whether it be 2 million or 2 thousand, I am sooo looking forward to the highlight of the core Republican base!
Haha. If there is really two million people, unless they’ve done some serious coordination with the city for resources, porta potties, food/drink, police presence, they are going to have a near disaster. For the inauguration, they had to bring in police forces from neighboring cities/states to control the crowds.
Yeah, Bart, you’ll be one of the two million cruelest, dumbest, ugliest people on this planet if you go. I bet you profess to be a Christian as well! You people make me vomit.
Seems likely.
The weather sucks today, but the forecast for tomorrow (Satudray) is sunny and low 80s.
far-leftists
What you’re labeling “far left” has been center-left for longer than you’ve been alive.
It’s only when you’re an intellectual descendant of the John Birch Society that normal looks dangerously liberal.
“Again, whether it be 2 million or 2 thousand, I am sooo looking forward to the highlight of the core Republican base!”
A vertible Diane Arbus parade. If you know who Diane Arbus was and what her photographs are like. If not – google her I guess.
Like the right did such a great job when they were in charge and we had THE WORST ATTACK IN THIS COUNTRY IN OUR HISTORY! Yes, how I long for those days when that idiot Bush was in office. This man could barely form sentences. Of course when you dad can get you into Yale it’s no problem. Meanwhile, Obama didn’t have those advantages yet, he’s 100 times smarter than Bush and graduated from HARVARD! Now, tell me again…whose more impressive?
I have a modest proposal: Why not pull a Rove and elevate the threat level one notch for tomorrow. It can be switched back the next day. That should suck every last bit of oxygen out of Beck’s cross-burning … er, I mean, “9/12 Rabid Rat Rally”.
Don’t you just love it when Americans are so active and actually take an interest in politics and governing? I think it’s great, whether it’s 200 or 2 million, whether I agree or not – this is the kind of stuff that makes this country great. As Obama said just the other night – this type of demonstration represents an American Value.
If I wasn’t off camping I’d go down and film some of them, counting the teef between them.
I imagine the deliverance theme song will be blaring from car windows pulling into our nations capital.
Hide your women and children folks unless you wanna see your loved ones on a milk carton.
Yeah, people demonstrating for White Supremacy sure is an American Value alright.
Please.
Exactly Tena! And Kathleen Hussein from Maine, I just spit lemonade on my keyboard. I love your screen name!
Where did the white supremacy stuff come from?
It came from Glenn Beck.
He is the organizer, yo?
A vertible Diane Arbus parade.
LOL!
“Rep. Joe “You lie!” Wilson now trailing in his reelection bid against Rob Miller, 44-43, according to a new poll.
“In a matter of seconds Joe Wilson turned himself from a safe incumbent into one of the most vulnerable Republicans in the country for 2010,” the pollster observes.”
Wilson may not be such a shoe-in after all.
http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/2009/09/you_trail.php
I’m not sure who’s organizing this thing – I’ve never heard of it.
But Glenn Beck is a white supremacist?
@mike from arlington: Count the teef:

“I’m not sure who’s organizing this thing – I’ve never heard of it.”
You didn’t read Greg’s post, then.
Yes, and look for guys with names like Nub, Digger and Cleetis with think bands of motor oil stuck under their finger nails and hair that looks and smells like it was rinsed in tuna fish oil! Between that and the smell of old people, I wouldn’t want to be anywhere near them in the sweltering heat. And don’t forget the H.A.G.G’s. Thats, Housewives Against Good Government with their polyester pants with the big kangroo pouch drooping down, hiding their ladyparts deep within the crevices of flab!
Maybe they’ll all bring automatic weapons and accidently…
Wouldn’t be nice to say it out loud, but we can always hope, can’t we?
Is this one of those posts where the analysis and dialogue is so high-tone, then I – the **** in the punchbowl – post something and bring the level of discourse down?
You people really are racist against white people. Somehow being white is supposed to de-legitimize these people’s real concerns about a government-controlled healthcare system?
Sorry that’s thick band of morot oil!
Yeah Baby. A bunch of white folks racist against white folk!
In other news, 2+2 now equals 5.
“Maybe they’ll all bring automatic weapons and accidently…
Wouldn’t be nice to say it out loud, but we can always hope, can’t we?”
“O ma gawd, junior done shot gramma – who’s got her Medicaid card?”
Converse, I just said that to my sister. I don’t want to see anyone killed but, it would serve them right if someone got shot in the hand or their leg. The next tea party would likely draw even less out of fear!
There won’t be 50K at this meet-up. All the birfer racist freeper losers will be sitting at home in their bean-bag chairs eating Cheetos and screaming at the large screen after their team fumbles.
They’ve got some pro-secessionists groups sponsoring this function. I wouldn’t be surprised if there were some gun violations.
Hey, Auntmisbehaving, about your post: Yeah, Bart, you’ll be one of the two million cruelest, dumbest, ugliest people on this planet if you go. I bet you profess to be a Christian as well! You people make me vomit.
I think it is interesting that not only do you think you know Bart, his religion, etc. but you pass a final judgement call on him. Are you psychic? How come protest is “community organizing” when it is done for the left and “racist facists” when done by the right? I think both sides should have the right to protest without being cut down by opponents.
I think I’ll skip my camping and pass out after-party passes to some Trinidad neighborhood addresses to all the tea-baggers.
“They’ve got some pro-secessionists groups sponsoring this function.”
What part of pro-sessionist do you not get, Sasha? What part of Glenn Beck’s ideology do you not get?
If you don’t to hang out with fascists and racists, then don’t go.
The inauguration was disgusting…it was gaudy and a huge waste of money by the “party of the poor”. You people are disgusting. If I said it would be neat is someone got shot at a obama event you would want me tared and feathered. God help this country when ya’ll get through with it. You are all morally and ethically bankrupt.
Not when the left shows up with Obama as Hitler signs! Stop trying to equate that hatful group of klansman and women known as the Republican party with protest by the left. There is no comparison! And haven’t you noticed that there seem to be NO minorities at these klan rallies? Why do you think that is? Have you seen one elderly African American screaming that the government should keep it’s hands off their Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security? NO! They actually know that these are government programs that were fought for by them during the Civil Rights movement and the Voting Rights act which, by the way the GOP hero Ronald Regan voted AGAINST! Just one more reason I couldn’t stand that B movie actor!
nike from Arlington – I adore you.
Sadly, Chaka Fattah withdrew his resolution calling for a September 13th healthcare rally in Washington that, if advertised and adequately supported, could have made this group of clowns look small. This idea was initially suggested by Robert Reich. There is still a rally planned for 9/13, but it likely won’t amount to what it could have been, and the timing couldn’t have been better after Obama’s speech this week. Chalk it up as a missed opportunity.

“You are all morally and ethically bankrupt.”
That’s quite the motherfucking statement coming from the party that not only bankrupted the country after being handed the biggest budget surplus in history, but also threw common decency and morals right out the window and defied international and national law by torturing people.
Did anyone see this Craig Ferguson clip from HuffPo – he nailed it on Wilson. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/09/11/craig-ferguson-devotes-en_n_283361.html
as far as the tea party — peaceful assembly with respect for others is great. I value it. Whether they make sense or not.
Well I wouldn’t be surprised to see a burning cross before the day is over.
Hey Tena – knock it off!
Hey, Greg – thanks the clarification about this not being Pelosi – I didn’t think it sounded like the Speaker.
The inaguration was historic! Whatever the cost it can’t come close to the 2.48 trillion dollars Bush spent on these 2 wars. Where where the complaints about money then? And that *** didn’t even get Bin Laden which he said he would. Nice Job! Republicans are not just stupid, they’re incompetent! We’ll see how Obama’s presidency plays out but, are you aware that During Bill Clinton’s 8 years in office, over 23 million jobs were created yet, during Bush’s 8 years in office there were just under 5 million jobs created? Check the facts. The economy always does better under Democrats. Look it up!
Hey sbj – who do you think you are?
Imagine all the Efferdent and PoliGrip you could sell to the ignorant, angry old white hillbillies gathered there — or at least to the ones who bothered to get dentures when their real teeth rotted out.
Is it true that they will burn a cross on the White House lawn?
as far as the tea party — peaceful assembly with respect for others is great. I value it. Whether they make sense or not.
I agree with this. I think labeling what has long been center-left as “far left” is beyond ridiculous, but I still agree with Angela’s sentiments.
Who do I think I am? Someone who is offended by the use of the “M word.”
So knock it off!
It will be a seething mass of whiteness, no doubt about that.
All crying: He can’t be president. He just can’t!
Tena, you really didn’t read my post well, I’ll help you clarify:
“They’ve got some pro-secessionists groups sponsoring this function.” SASHA’s response: Where did that come from, how does that have to do with my post? Are you one of those people sitting in the basement? I ask, I don’t judge…
What part of pro-sessionist do you not get, Sasha? What part of Glenn Beck’s ideology do you not get?
SASHA’s response: I still don’t understand how this relates to my post. I don’t know you, Tena, how can you say these things about me??
If you don’t to hang out with fascists and racists, then don’t go.
SASHA’s Response: I believe everyone has a right to protest, that is the point of my post, Tena, you are in the Blogger’s Twilight Zone, now that WAS a judgement!
Where did that come from, not my post?
A couple things:
1. How many people walked on Washington to protest the Iraq war? Keep that in mind when you see media coverage of Tea Party protests….because war protestors got ignored and ridiculed. LMMA! (liberal media my ***)
2. This honestly sounds like the expectations game. Two million? Really? Were there even that many people TOTAL protesting on tax day? And they think 2 million people are going to fly/drive/travel to DC to march on a normal 2-day weekend? Because everyone’s got vacation time and money for plane tickets these days…
3. The mob mentality and hatred in a group of 2 million tea baggers…there’s no way it won’t boil over. This worries me because it could be unsafe for people, but it also means I have no doubt that they won’t be able to hide the reasons they are there – healthcare lies, racism, paranoia, and black-helicopter-crazy.
“Who do I think I am? Someone who is offended by the use of the “M word.”
So knock it off!”
LOL!
Tena, you rock!
Oh goody — Ma and Pa Kettle Visit Washington to give that thar’ Darkie Mooslim feller O’Bammy a piece’a their minds!
But them commies better keep their grubby Red socialist mitts off’n the Kettles’ beloved Medicare!!!
Yes, all the toothless banjo players whose parents were brother and sister will have a good old fashioned Ho Down! After that it’s off we go to have *** with other members of our immediate family to consumate our love and drink moonshine! Yee Ha! I just threw up in my mouth!
Jeez, Sasha – “I think it is interesting that not only do you think you know Bart, his religion, etc. but you pass a final judgement call on him. Are you psychic? How come protest is “community organizing” when it is done for the left and “racist facists” when done by the right? What part of your own comment do you not get?
Tena, you attributed quotes in your last post regarding me that I never wrote. You must be thinking of another Sasha. So what is your question? I never mentioned Glenn Beck, I never mentioned I was going anywhere, so where are you getting your facts???
Do you believe everyone in this country has a right to protest?
One of my all time favorite shows was Designing Women. In an episode called Nightmare at Hee Haw, the ladies were on vacation and stopped in at a local dive for lunch in the Ozarks and these hillbilly types wanted to dance with the women. So, one of the guys claimed to be the town gynecologist because he had delivered so many of the town’s babies including one of his own so, he said that when they took the baby to the hospital, they gave his child a name which he noticed on a bracelet she was wearing. He read it as Famolly but, the bracelet actually said FEMALE! I love that story!
Sasha – I can read. Apparently you can’t. I have nothing else to say to you.

Old Conservative: If I said it would be neat is someone got shot at a obama event you would want me tared (sic)and feathered.
Dear Old Conservative,
The only people who bring guns to Obama events is… well, uh, I guess they’re mostly old conservatives, really.
Love, converse
White sheets have sold out in WalMarts all over the South.
Tena, you insult me further and didn’t even answer my question. Obviously you are not here to have substanitive discussions of the issues. You are probably very typical.
I’ll be shocked if there are more than 15K people there.
I don’t know about Tena but, I think that if you can’t read and write you should’t be allowed to protest with signs that read:
No Youth In Asia
Get a brain moran
and my favorite
Englis is the offical Language in the US!
No, if you’re an idiot who doesn’t know the issues, you should probably stay home and hide under your sheet! What no one, not even the idiots in the media have pointed out is that all of these “protestors” are Republicans who are still angry that they got beat by that black guy and beat badly! It’s what we call sour grapes! They should get use to losing because the very people they need “minorities” are the very people they want to wipe off the face of the earth. No matter what happens in 2012 this minority will never vote for the party of klansmen!
I love it when the trolls act all indignant. Hahahahahaha!!
God I’ve enjoyed the last couple of days. Now thunder is rolling across the Taos Valley and bouncing off Taos Mountain and we need the rain.
What a gorgeous day.
OK, can I take a vote here? Who is crazy, Tena or me?

Please tell me how Tena’s response to me has ANYTHING to do with my original post? Maybe this is not supposed to make sense?
“this minority will never vote for the party of klansmen!”
god I’d hope not.
This minority never has. I know sees me as a walking womb to control and who sees me as a person.
@sasha
I choose “B”. What did I win?
Sasha – here’s a tip, hon – I’ve been on political boards since 2002.
A sure troll tell is when you won’t let it go. You need to refine your technique.
@Sasha: Tena is “off” today. Don’t take it personally.
This just in, the Republican/Conservative/Neoconservative/Libertarian Party has ditched small government, low taxes, and personal responsibility as their ideology.
The new Right Wing ideology:
ARGHHHHHH!!!!!!
So you are telling me not to post here anymore? Is that it, Tena? Does everyone in this country have the right to protest? Simple question, can you answer it?
Sasha, get lost.
I think blogs are really great, the only side effect is that people get so vicious toward others, why does the tone need to be so ugly? We are never going to get it together as country if we can’t even talk to each other.
Ethan – LOL!
Sorry Ethan, if you don’t like the discussion, you are free to go:)
Or, maybe I should sell “Get a Brain! Morans” signs and clean house.
http://forumpolitics.com/pics/moran-sign.jpg
mike from Arlington – I came up with a great bumper sticker last night (speaking of GET A BRAIN, Morans!)
Republicans: Worst Losers Ever
Sasha:
re: Tena
This is a person who routinely calls conservatives “Repugs” and “trolls” and then lectures others about immaturity. That’s pretty much all you need to know.
Thank you, Scott C., for your kindness. My confidence in human decency has been restored. Hope we find a blog with people who actually want to discuss things.
I find it highly unbelievable that a conservative protest could attract a million or more people. There is almost no chance the crowd could be that big. And if it is, the Dems have reason to be worried.
I think we should all be able to agree that it will be interesting to see what happens tomorrow.
Says teh trolls. Y’all are so cute when you talk to each other.
I just can’t get my finners to type Republican. They just won’t. It just comes out Repug – I’m sure my subconscious is responsible. It was so traumatized by the Bush years.
You’re cute too, Tena!!!
Hey, Tena, I gotta go watch Glenn Beck melt down again today, are you going to watch? Oh, that’s right, you don’t know how to answer simple questions, you just know how to insult. Have a wonderful weekend with your bad karma, hon.
It was such a barrel of fun watching the Right burn through my tax money like it was kindling. 9 Billion dollars just walked off in Iraq – nobody could ever account for it. It was just a little less than fun to watch what a Democratic administration had done for us – the largest surplus in history – totally lost, wasted, blown away in 4 short years. And then watch as debt piled up for nobody knew what – except it must have been pounded down sand holes in the desert in Iraq and lining Amhad Chalabi’s pockets.
It was just not terribly comfortable, to say the least, watching this country go from an active stance on human rights to waterboarding prisoners. And all the while we were treated like retarded children by the biggest idiot who ever occupied the Oval Office.
THe Repugs have exactly nothing to be proud of. I can’t believe they won’t shut up but just keep digging their way to hell.
My father is a drunkard who died by suicide, my mother is a loser, and I betrayed my grandmother who took care of me – thank you all for believing in me !
Every one take a deep breath. It is Glenn Beck that you are all getting into a town hall shouting match over.
Glenn Beck has not been elected a Senator, a Congressman, or President, so why be concerned about how many of his followers show up.
I wish the Democratic Leadership would focus on passing the legislation that we elected them to do, instead of always getting fainting fits, every time some right winger yanks their chain.
I am out of here. Have a good weekend everyone, and remember, it is just silly of you to always be at Glenn’s Beck and Call.
“This is a person who routinely calls conservatives “Repugs” and “trolls” and then lectures others about immaturity. That’s pretty much all you need to know.”
..but Sasha’s first comment in this thread was defending a guy who let the racial dogwhistle about taking his “country back” drool out of both sides of his inbred mouth. That seems to me more of a hellworthy trespass than calling someone a “troll”.
Liam, thanks for your words of wisdom. Signing off for the weekend!
Darling Liam – you are a big-minded guy. For they do say that consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds.
No, it is silly of you to be at obama’s beck and call as he leads you down the path of stupidity that you all so easily follow…..
Tena – Let’s not forget that Obama had his uncle’s help getting into Harvard – Uncle Sam – without affirmitative action that man couldn’t have gotten out of Occidental College.
As a proud American, I have no trouble waterboarding terrorists – please remember that when they catch our servicemen, they behead them – I believe we have shown incredible restraint.
It is amazing to me that you spout your big mouth so callously yet you are not the one defending your own right to do so.
I think that if we REQUIRED some military service like the European countries you so want to be like with your socialized healthcare and entitlements, you would have a much greater respect for the people who defend your sorry excuse for free speech.
Please keep it up liberals, just shows how ignorant you all.
AMY~
Nice try – like Bush’s path with just the sustance of intellect and diplomacy – he blew through a 5.7 trillion dollar surplus that Clinton left him, sacrificed 4000+ lives for a pointless war in Iraq and he still didn’t capture Osama Bin Laden – I could list many more but I wouldn’t want you head to start hurting.
When will people realize that these extremists are throwing a temper tantrum? That’s all this is, they lost the election (s) and now are in the toy aisle crapping their pants and crying to Daddy Fox News. It is sad. They don’t want Democracy, they don’t want a civil discussion, they just want to eliminate the “others.”
I would be surprised if you went down the line of everyone who does show up to this “event” and there is a single cohesive theme. They represent a paranoid shrinking population of the world parading about as concerned citizens.
Wow, Tena, you rate. Some loser took the trouble to register for the handle “TenaHater.”
Did InstaPundit link? Are they coming?
Yo, TenaHater, if we had mandatory military service, then everyone could get government healthcare! Like Rep. Wilson and all four of his sons. I love your socialist plan!
You liberals crack me up. This protest and movement has got you all messed up! Scared? YOU SHOULD BE. Get used to it, we’re not going anywhere any time soon except IN YOUR FACE.
Liberty. Fundamental Rights. Limited Government.
Jenn – I know that you are merely a liberal with no idea of how the government works but the DEMOCRATS ruled Congress during that same time & it is Congress, not the President, to approves expenditures. I am not saying that Bush is blameless – he is FAR too fiscally liberal for me – but let’s not rewrite history and lay everything on Bush’s shoulders.
The “Million Mullet March”?
So in other words is ok for us to be attacked on this day 8 years ago and we should have run over there and held their hands and told them we understand why they wanted to kill us? That is just so wonderful…and sweet and highly stupid…but thats your warped opinion. I’m sure you have never served one moment in your life for this country and never will because in your opinion it’s not worth saving. Terrorist and people who want to kills us are worthing of saving. right? Then the subject of money…..don’t even go there….
Jeff, I’m glad we crack you up, because we’re just having some Friday afternoon fun here. Did you read the thread? Did you GET the jokes? No. I thought not. Over your head.
But yes, I do believe we have linkage, because the strangers are here. Watch the trolls roll the post number up. Stranger danger!
JM — awesome.
AMY — Is our children learning? Back to school, sweetie. One thing we can agree on is that you’re lacking noun-verb agreement.
Someones got laugh at you all…. Keep speaking all those kind words and showing us all how smart you are.It really works…I’m getting more convinced every post.
Your right Kathleen..that had a lot of errors in it…Thank You.
So much Vitrol on this site…starting at the top we have rampant name calling by the Dems…the party of the people…Whne anyone injects Facts and logic…you libs freak out and simply name call…nice…
Rox Steady- you are the very reason fact and logic are SO disappointing to the liberal wing of this Country
More jobs created under Clinton? Who was in CHARGE of Congress? The Repubs. Who is in charge now? The Dems…Who was in charge of the banking Fiasco Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae? The ‘Home brothel King’ Barnie Frank quote ‘In 1994, the Democratic Congress again moved, passing the Community Reinvestment Act — an update of the original 1977 law.
For the first time, homeowners that previously didn’t qualify — either because they couldn’t put any money down or had bad credit — were made eligible for government-backed loans.’ And the housing boom was on….
SO WHOSE F’ING FAULT is it the BANKS MELT DOWN You FREAKING A…HOLES IT WAS THE DEMS GIVING everyone a LOAN even if hte ycould not PAY FOR IT
You’re. A contraction of you and are.
Your refers to something belonging to the person you are addressing.
Sending you love and good grammar. Remembering what today is all about. Have a good evening.
Kathleen you moron – The military only gets medical care while they are serving – that is ANOTHER lie the Democrats have told to our military servicemen and women. My Father defended this country for over 20 years and was told that as a result he and my Mother would have lifetime medical care but during the last session of Congress – they decided to go back on that promise to our military and they now have to pay for their healthcare as well.
Why did we need to cut veteran’s healthcare – oh to pay for the lazy people who won’t get off their butts and work hard enough to EARN THEIR OWN WAY.
Kathleen,
Thank you so much for being the correct grammer and punctuation czar for the afternoon.
Kathleen,
Thank you for being the Grammer and Punctuation Czar for the afternoon.
Does it bother any of you Obama supporters that your man LIES TO YOU CONSTANTLY? Seriously? Even the NYTimes and AP reported that Obama’s healthcare speech was laced with lies and overstatements. Not a problem for you?
He promised no lobbyists in his admin. It is FULL of them.
He promised every bill would get a 5 day public vieweing before voted on – HUGE lie.
He promised 600,000 new jobs this summer. We lost almost 2 million.
He promised no new taxes for the middle class. Now we hear it may be “necessary”.
TenaHater — I know it’s for active service people, and then there’s the VA. However you slice it, it’s still federally-funded health care for the period they have it. Do you suppose Rep. Wilson is in the reserves for the patriotism or for the Tricare he raves about? Have you read about the people enlisting to get benefits for their families? One guy just got killed in Afghanistan for that.
I’m sorry about your parents’ situation, if that’s true, and I hope they’re approaching Medicare age. I’m not sure whose “fault” it is that Congress changed some military appropriations, but you can’t have massive tax cuts for the wealthy AND two wars, AND an ever-growing demand for safer conditions for our fighting men and women. You know, armored vehicles, better flak vests, etc. It seems to me any cuts to Veterans’ health care would be coming from the Pentagon’s budget, not health care for lazy people. And don’t forget about the new prescription drug entitlement for seniors. I’m all for that, but we have to PAY for it.
Meantime, why don’t your parents get off their butts and work hard enough to earn their own way? Life is hard. It’s unfair. A deal’s not always a deal. People get benefits taken away from them all the time. It’s good that your father defended this country for 20 years, but why didn’t he get a real job in the real world? Maybe he felt he’d rather have the nice military benefits and the PX rather than trying to make it in the rough and tumble of the super competitive private sector. Isn’t 20 years when a nice taxpayer-funded pension kicks in? Somebody moved their cheese. So sad. Until they get to Medicare age, you can help them with your own charity.
Sorry to be so harsh, but life is hard. Get used to it.
AMY, you’re welcome, because as a Czar, I did not need a lot of vetting.
I repeat what Bill Mitchell said:
Does it bother any of you Obama supporters that your man LIES TO YOU CONSTANTLY? Seriously? Even the NYTimes and AP reported that Obama’s healthcare speech was laced with lies and overstatements. Not a problem for you?
He promised no lobbyists in his admin. It is FULL of them.
He promised every bill would get a 5 day public vieweing before voted on – HUGE lie.
He promised 600,000 new jobs this summer. We lost almost 2 million.
He promised no new taxes for the middle class. Now we hear it may be “necessary”.
We just thought the inauguration was positive…..it really was a sham…..this Tea Party is the real deal, now that America’s eyes are fully open!
Obama……SHAM…….WOW!
The liberals are just freaking out because they always thought that massive protests were their exclusive domain. When they march, they are “speaking truth to power”. When we march, we are “an angry mob”.
Well libs. We figured it out. Republicans are now activists. How do you like us now?
ROFLMAO.
Thats right Bill…they are having a hissy fit because we have decided to stand up and protest against their b.s.
Rock on conservatives!
O my gosh – I’m so proud [sniff*] I have my own personal troll.’
I have arrived.
Thank you, Tenahater. I know now: you all hate me, you really hate me. I’m so honored. I couldn’t ask to be hated by a better class of immoral braindead twits.
I want to thank the Academy, of course, I have to thank Greg, without whom this wouldn’t have happened, my agent, George Soros, and of course, the entire winger population of the country.
Thank you.
Bill Mitchell –
Happy to school you. Don’t like you now, never have, never will. Knock yourselves out counting Obama’s lies while we wait to count indictments on the Torturer-in-Chief. And have tons of fun on your Million Mullet March (credit JM).
Buh-bye.
Man, the right sure fell for the high expectation trap.
I simply cannot wait until tomorrow.
Tena,
Your welcome….and as a prize we have a vacation to Iraq or Afghanstan for you….I hope they know your a liberal and don’t take your head.
Kathleen – So my father serves this country, defends your right to talk out your butt & we should take away his benefits when lazy Americans & illegals should get their healthcare paid for by your guy? Do not kid yourself – one way or another illegals will be covered. Either they will provide false documents to get into the public option or they will just continue to flood ERs like they have always done & we will pay…
I know it will just kill you but my parents are doing fine, my Father is working in the public sector – utilizing his two Masters degrees that he worked so hard to get while he was defending this country. Boy where we would be if more Americans were like him? If they aren’t though, the libs will take care of them. Why should we expect people to take care of themselves? Who needs personal responsibility anyway?
As for Joe Wilson, I agree that his outburst was inappropriate and he has apologized to Obama for it and that is the only apology he owes. See, that is the difference between conservatives & libs – we admit when we misbehave. I have been in the political realm for some time now & I remember watching the 2005, 2006, 2007 & 2008 State of the Union Addresses given by President Bush where the Democrats booed him or when Pelosi rolled her eyes and made faces behind him while he spoke. Where was the moral outrage then? I didn’t hear Ms. Pelosi offer an apology… from the left…. crickets…
Bad behavior is bad behavior no matter who performs it. When the libs realize that & stop the partisan bickering, our country will be better for it.
Im going. I hope its a great turnout. By the way Im a Democrat, from a long line of Democrats. We have had enough of being lied to and spun around on both sides of the political spectrum. TOO FAR LEFT AND TOO FAR RIGHT. Where are the leaders that represent we the people? Stop calling people participating in democracy names. Democracy is messy, but it is what makes this country free. It is a fundamental right. One you should all be standing up and defending. Even when its not your side. This can be the change this country needs.
It comes down to one thing…Without the military Kathleen, all your arguments are mute points because if not for them you wouldn’t be here to spew you liberal ****! Remember that! How dare you questions some ones service to this country so you can sit here and berate everyone that doesnt believe your ideology. Your not worthy of even speaking too and to take the words from someone else…your a little troll!!!!
AMY, sweetie, bubbie, how many times do I have to tell you, it’s you’re.
Also, glad to know you have the power to send your enemies to war zones. How Stalin of you.
Special for Bill M: Rob Miller is about to break $817,000 in donations, in less than 48 hours. How sweet it is.
That’s money we lazy biotches could be spending on health care, but we’d rather tap you for it, bud.
I’m done, for real.
YAY she is done!
In reading the postings regarding the Tea Party in DC 09/12, seems there are a lot of people who are hate filled on both sides of the aisle.
I wonder, can any of you who spew your party line like the word of God can tell me why you are so entrenched and closed minded? Why do you rely on the party power to tell you how to vote? Why do you believe? Why can’t you have a civil debate without resorting to name calling and trash talking?
The population of this country made a huge mistake more than 50 years ago when it failed to adopt term limits for these professional politicians who constantly misrepresent their position and dazzle the constituency with double speak.
One word of truth in a statement does not make the statement a lie – nor does it make it the truth. It makes it what you want to hear at the moment, or not.
The community organizer shouldn’t complain when the community gets organized.
Budget surpluses do not mean that the country was not in debt when Mr. Clinton left office. Two different sets of books, kept by some of the best wordsmiths in the business.
In fact the national debt at the time was just a little under $ 3 Trillion dollars.
So, you see – all politicians are liars. If they are not when they get there, they become one to stay.
I was e-mailed this site for the information and after reading the comments that have been posted, I don’t know what to say. The hatred and vitriol that is in almost every comment from the left is a frightening thing. Do you honestly believe that everyone that does not agree with Obama and his administration are all racist, redneck, gun toteing thugs from the south?
I truly understand what Drink the “Koolaid” now means.
I will support the constitution and the agenda that I believe in, too bad there are many that don’t think we should all be allowed those rights.
I usually just lurk here but somehow all of the sudden there are 140+ posts?
Susan Frasier — we were JOking. Never mind. You can turn on your heel in a huff and leave. TTFN.
TenaHater — glad your dad fought for the freedom of speech to give yourself such a sweet handle.
Your first sentence doesn’t make sense. If your father lost his benefits, it isn’t anything that “my guy” (who’s also your president) did. These proposed reforms haven’t happened yet.
And, surprise, surprise, your father is still working in the public sector!!! Republicans are always bellyaching about the huge size of the bureaucracy, government isn’t the solution, government is the problem, and he’s still living on the taxpayer’s dime. The irony, it’s so rich. Glad he has two masters; tell me, how many of his degrees were earned at public universities?
Also, if your father’s doing fine, why are you bellyaching about the healthcare he lost? It sounds like your parents are pretty well set up. Hope they’re happy and healthy and gratified by the opportunities and living the public sector provides.
As to illegal aliens, well, yes, it is a dilemma. And I’ve asked here frequently, rhetorically, how is it that they manage to survive? Who hires them? Who pays them? At factories, in fields, mowing lawns, caring for children? How many of those people do you suppose are Republicans? In the meantime, many of them buy private insurance. And yes, if they get hurt, they will come to the emergency room and they will be served and we will pay, as we do now. Can’t help you there.
Stop with the incivility ****. Rush Limbaugh is your king, if any Republican politician offends him, he must crawl and kiss his hem. Glenn Beck is probably making el Rushbo jealous.
We made a lot of jokes about old white folks (I’ll be one soon enough) and mullet-wearing hicks and gun-toting idiots here today. Absolutely. Nothing wrong with it. It’s a healthy way to blow off steam.
AMY, really, really, YAY, I am leaving. It’s all yours. The regulars will be back having intelligent discourse Monday, after you’ve gone away.
Susan – I’m sorry that has been your experience. I am an independent who has learned quite a bit from the posts and the comments on this site. Feelings are running high today, but I hope you will come back. I don’t think it is quite far to paint the left as drinking “Kool-Aid” though. Or to state that all the hatred and vitriol (which by the way is a great word) comes from the left. In my experience, and on a personal basis on this site, I have been much more appalled by the personal attacks and hatred of those who purport to be right wing.
OMG, I’m back. I can’t quit you. I just remembered TenaHater accused us of incivility. TenaHater, who called me a moron, and whose name is TenaHater. Just sayin’.
oh you of the best moniker around – Kathleen Hussein in Maine – The irony of that is delicious, isn’t it?
Kathleen – I apologize, I mis-typed. He is in the private, not the public sector. That is unfortunately what happens when you try to multi-task. I know from your prior posts to Amy that you never make a mistake but I am adult enough to admit mine.
The colleges he attended were actually private universities – an education he paid for while working 365 days a year, 24 hours a day as our military does and while making the equivalent of $5.70 an hour. Boy, how can we afford ALLLLL than money????
Your guy signed bills paying ACORN far more than that….
I know that your liberal eyes only read what they want to read but I never indicated that I was a Republican and I don’t believe I have ever mentioned Rush Limbaugh or Glenn Beck. I guess since you are a liberal, your heroes must be Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Sean Penn??? I would not presume to know how you came to your world view, I would ask that you not presume to know how I came to mine.
I am socially liberal and fiscally conservative. I believe that America was made great by legal immigrants who came to this great country and assimilated themselves, worked hard, and provided for their families.
I cheered Bill Clinton when he & the Republican Congress passed the welfare to work bills and reduced our welfare rolls. I believe that ALL people should work hard and not expect a hand out. I have always found that people appreciate things more when they earn them themselves.
I believe that government should be there to offer support for it’s citizens and to uphold the country’s ideals, I do not believe that our citizens should be crushed under the weight of big government.
Finally, as I have said before, I believe that bad behavior is bad behavior and it should be denouced by both sides when it occurs – no matter who behaves poorly.
With more civility, our country could move forward.
Tenahater – I love your last line, but really, your moniker and your passive aggressive writing hardly fit with civility. Since you think bad behavior should be denounced, this independent is calling out yours.
I would love to read what you want and what you think, if you could write it without jabbing or backhanding other commenters on this site.
Read all the anti-white person comments mike from arlington.
Teena,
Your post above (3:59 PM) is probaby the only time in the history of the English Language that someone has attempted to claim the moral and intelectual high ground in an argument using the word “motherfucking”.
There is probably a reason for that…
You libs crack me up. Your only retort to any criticism of THE ONE is racism. Give it up. I was against Hillary’s govt run plan too. Did that make me a racist then as well? I also voted against Gore. Guess that makes me a racist huh? Come on people, come up with a better argument or 2010 will be a bloodbath.
Oh and BTW Wilson has raised over $1M since Thursday night. He represents one of the most conservative districts in SC. That poll you’re refering to is probably one of those CNN polls that is comprised of 45% Dems and 25% Reps.
TenaHater, aside from your hateful name, your last post was quite measured and reasoned. You don’t hang here much, I admit mistakes all the time. And it was wrong of me to assume you were a Republican based on comments like:
See, that is the difference between
conservatives & libs – we admit when
we misbehave.
You can see how I might mistake you for a conservative and thus, a Republican.
You also took on another Republican/conservative bete noire, affirmative action:
Tena – Let’s not forget that Obama had his uncle’s
help getting into Harvard – Uncle Sam – without
affirmitative action that man…
“that man.” “your guy.” Hmmm. Very civil. Yes, I assumed you were a Republican. You are certainly in opposition.
So, speaking of Uncle Sam getting people into college, how did your dad pay for private universities on the equivalent of $5+ an hour? Did his service branch (ahem, taxpayers) help finance it? Look, I am not besmirching his service or his hard work, I have been taking Republican/conservative values and turning them back on you.
You earlier mentioned the possibility of mandatory military service for all of us liberals to appreciate the sacrifice of your father and others in the volunteer armed services. I don’t remember you mentioning when you served. Did you, or does your dad cover it for you? Easy for me to say, my Dad was in the Navy, as was my brother, although neither make a career of it. I do have a cousin at West Point and a Navy ROTC cousin who’s down in Newport News. I guess they don’t count because they’re only cousins and, OMG, they’re from the raging right wing part of the family. Imagine that.
In terms of incivility, I brought up Rush Limbaugh and his li’l buddy Glenn Beck as the de facto leaders and mouthpieces of the rump Right. I think Al Sharpton and Sean Penn are fairly marginal on our side. I guess you don’t listen to Rush and Beck, but you showed up on this page out of nowhere with a pointed, targeted moniker, just as we were joshing about Glenn Beck’s trading in on the dead of 9/11 to call a march on DC. I surmised.
Glad to see you’ve calmed down a bit. Take care. Hard to believe we’re arguing like this on September 11th, but that’s the American way.
“I think Al Sharpton and Sean Penn are fairly marginal on our side.”
OK what about Olbermann? Or Chrissie Matthews? Or hell, the entire cast of msnbc? Not that anyone actually watches msnbc, but still.
What about ‘em? They may bug the heck out of you, but we don’t quote them like zombies. And don’t forget, your 2012 nominee works on MSNBC.
I love the dems. They seem to only be able to express themselves with crude and nasty remarks. They say people revert to this when they are scared. Shameful. And you call republicans hicks. Try for intelligent remarks once in a while and people may put some credence to what you say.
Angela – You are right so I have changed my moniker.
What I want – I want the government to realize that they are ill-prepared to be a charity. I believe that there should be temporary safety nets for people in need but that we have to stop promoting poverty by enabling people to stay on the government dole. This only leads to generations of poverty. I believe that this can be accomplished by revisiting the welfare to work program put in effect during Clinton’s administration and refining it.
I believe that social security should be for the eldrely and those who cannot work as a result of serious injuries or illnesses. Drug addicts should not receive benefits that enable them to turn around and buy more drugs to further their addictions. These people should be offered rehabilitation services – even if we pay for that, it will not be as much as social security for life…
I believe that all immigrants should have to come here legally and like those who ask for a visa, should have to prove their ability to support themselves and their families – including providing for healthcare. As much as I may feel for their personal plight – we can no longer afford to pay for the world’s poor through our own social services.
I believe that all immigrants should have to speak English. My grandparents were immigrants after WWII and they taught their daughters English while maintaining their culture at home. This enabled their daughters to communicate with the world around them and they befitted greatly from higher education.
I believe that healthcare should be affordable but if people do not choose to pay for healthcare, then they should have to pay the bills they incur. To create a less expensive system you merely need to open up the state borders and allow companies to write policies across the nation. That would take care of the near monopolies some companies have in some states.
I believe that government bailouts are wrong – no company is too big to fail.
I believe that when a policitian is brought up on corruptions charges or is found to have cheated the government on their taxes, they should be relieved of their duties – no matter who they are. They are not above the law.
I believe that there should be a flat tax. This would limit the loopholes for wealthy Americans who spend tens of thousands of dollars to attorneys to get the biggest deductions possible. This would also greatly limit the size of the IRS which would save money.
There you go, that is what I want & what I believe. It is not an easy order and someone with more legal knowledge than I would have to work out the details but I believe that if we make these changes, we would create a much more vibrant, hard-working America.
Annette, have you ever heard of a Venn diagram? We’re not saying all Republicans are hicks. But we are saying most hicks are Republicans. Remember the Wasilla hillbillies? We didn’t come up with that.
Long may their mullets wave.
P.S. The regulars here are kidding around in our locker room. Nice of you to swoop in and tsk, tsk. Did you have anything of substance you’d like to add? Something to which we could lend credence?
Hi Susan, welcome. I’m sincerely, not sarcastically, interested in knowing, have the welfare to work rules been seriously degraded since the Clinton era? The Democrats have only had the majority in Congress for two years, was all that undone with a Republican signing bills?
I can see there are problems, and things needing refinement, there always are. There is no perfect place, we are always a work in progress. But I am really, truly unaware of us going back to pre-Clinton welfare qualification.
The only thing I have to say, if you care to hear it, about both a flat tax and social security abuse: there will always be people who exploit whatever system is in place. We should always try to stop fraud and close ludicrous loopholes. That won’t stop opportunism. It’s human nature. It’s competition run amok.
Go get ‘em 9/12′ers! Long Live the Republic!
Kathleen – The welfare reform rules have not been weakened, people have just found a way to work around them thus, they need to be refined.
I believe that what has happened in the last 30 years is a loss of integrity and that comes from people living in an entitlement society.
We need to stop being a professional charity.
I also don’t think it helps when so many of our politicians on both sides are corrupt. It was shameful that so many cabinet nominees had tax bills outstanding. These are not needy people – they were successful professionals. They should have been ashamed of themselves for not paying what they owed and then asking the rest of America to pay more…
We need to expect more integrity from our public servants – since that is what they are supposed to be – and if they don’t live up to that, they should be removed – again, no matter what side they are on.
People learn by example, if this is the example set by the leaders of our nation, no wonder people are looking for a free handout…
Funny, all the violent protests and marches on the left have ALWAYS been more aggressive, ugly and vitriolic as a rule, yet on the right, with rare exception, do I see outbursts of anger and venom. The right usually do not protest so aggressively because they work for a living and generally spend time doing things that are productive. However, of late, we have seen a multitude of many people, irrespective of party affiliation or ideology becoming more concerned about the direction of this country. Rightfully so. This country is a leader in democracy and values, it is “we the people” that must hold our elected representatives accountable to do the RIGHT thing.
So, basically a bunch of birthers, deathers and mouth-breathers getting together. eeeewwwww!
“birthers, deathers and mouth-breathers”
All the name-calling really improves your image.
How about “patriots, freedom-lovers, and pro-lifers”? That’s who will really be out there.
America would not even be here but for the sort of folk who will come out for the tea parties.
If you lefties want a socialistic regime, why not move to Europe or Russia or China? Quit trying to steal America from the real Americans.
I am shocked at the violent and racist statements made on here from people who don’t even know what or who the tea party is. It saddens me that we can be so closed minded to only see the color of our skin. I am beginning to wonder who is really raciest in this society….
SHAME ON ALL OF YOU WHO ARE NEGITIVE. WHAT HAPPENED TO FREEDOM OF SPEECH AND AND DIFFERENT OPINIONS WITHOUT SO MUCH HATE.YOU SEE HOW OBAMA HAS DEVIDED THE AMERICAN PEOPLE MORE THAN WE WERE A YEAR AGO.THIS IS SO SAD.
Hey Susan – Thanks for the response. I appreciate it.
When the best you can do is come up with racial & sexual slurs… it really shows your colors.
You see, the TEA movement is grassroots. Sure, the republicans are trying to get in front and get some traction from it.. but what it boils down to is this.
The far right and the far left in this country are highly organized – say 10% on each side. The other 80%.. well, we woke up. What woke us up was the financial crisis, the mortgage crisis, the banking crisis, TARP, the Stimulus, the Omnibus, Cap & Trade, and the present health care debacle. It was not all Obama’s fault, it was not all Bush’s fault, it was not all Clinton’s fault. But they all have contributed to it, so has congress.. on both sides of the isle – and the spin they spew is nauseating. I am sick of it.
I’m mad as hell at politicians pointing fingers at each other. And when we start to speak out, you morons tell me I’m part of a mob. Well, Greg et al – this country was founded by a mob. Get ready baby, we’re back and you can thank yourselves – you woke us up.
I don’t watch FOX and I don’t listen to Rush – and I’m not a republican. But – I tell you what, I am active – and we are going to really change things. real change. Have fun kids – I’ll stop back in ‘10 after you lose the house. I am sure that will be someone elses fault too.
No Angela – thank you. It helped to sit back and take a second without the anger and write things down.
I have always told my children that a bird cannot fly without a left and a right wing working together. I think that type of dialogue is what we need. Not the name calling which I am embarassed to have added to.
this article is a set up.
if we get 10,000 – great.
tf we get 100,000 – even better.
i’m not betting on a million though.
Susan – That is a great analogy.I’m going to remember it. It seems to me the anger, the fear and the distrust are really deadly to our using both of those wings.
I’d like to sit down over a glass of tea or wine or beer or whatever and have a great conversation with you over what I would like to see in integrity of our elected officials. I think we could find common ground there.
I’d like to have that same conversation about a flat tax. I was a tax consultant for 20 so years until health reasons made it impossible for me to do the work anymore. There is a lot of, for lack of a better word,
social engineering in the tax code. The charitable deduction, the home mortgage interest deduction. I think the flat tax is much more progressive actually, because if you buy more, you pay more. But what do you do with all those unemployed accountants?
Thanks for your response and your integrity. You have made my night.
Angela – That would be great to meet over a glass of wine. I think we all want our elected officials to be more honest!
As for the unemployed accountants – they could help Congree balance the budget!
Sorry, typed too fast… Congress.
Love it! Going to a TEA party tomorrow!
FREEDOM!!!
The only way the government provides a service is to STEAL it from someone else!
STOP THE MADNESS!
We will overcome.
I don’t think 2 million is accurate…there are plenty of hotel rooms available in DC and Georgetown as of right now — midnight Eastern time.
People are mad as hell and they are just not going to take it anymore!

Susan Frasier — we were JOking. Never mind. You can turn on your heel in a huff and leave. TTFN.

Oh BS you were not joking those were your true colors shinning through as usual on this site of hate mongering intolerant “progressives”.
Scared is correct these freaks can’t handle the FACT that America is being taken back from their paws. They will get nastier and more violent as more of their corruption is exposed. After all we are being lead by the same folks that spit on our soldiers coming home from NAM, same radicals from the 60’s/70’s many tied to violent groups . The others like most out here are the beloved followers that will close their eyes to anything but their agenda. Against the law only applies to their fellow Americans they consider the enemy. They must spit hate at those of US who don’t agree with them. They have no fact to back up their spit, all they have are insults and grammar corrections to do battle with!
LOVE LIVE THE TEA PARTY
LIFE LIBERTY AND FREEDOM FOR ALL
(even Iraqis, the people “progressives” feel have no right to freedom just like the Americans they consider their enemies. The oh so intolerant crowd!)
Don’t forget to correct my typos, grammar and mis-spelling cowards!
Oh and Tena nice gutter mouth you have their must suck being a “desperate housewife” blogger living the good life off the evil corporate cash of hubby!!
the tea-party folks aren’t what they say: concerned about taxes, standing up as loyal opposition.
they’re a bunch of white conservatives who are sour that their guy lost in november 08. and their aim isn’t to enact any of their conservative philosophies. their aim is to just try and not let the guy they lost to govern. they did the exact same thing to bill clinton. we had 8 great, prosperous years in spite of their negative efforts.
additionally, it must really chap their a** that obama is black.
I just spent the time reading all of the hatred so Jovially written by you all. So confident we middle America will follow you that you can speak of this moment as backwater racists gathering in one place, I believe I will show up tomorrow myself. You have misread the election results and your arrogance will be your crow. Eat it and be well.
You liberals are the ONLY ones who are angry, and speak so foul. It’s embarrasing that you even live in this great Country! And to the idiot that blamed Bush for 9/11..it was only after Clinton lowered our national defense by 40% that it happened so blame him. Bush was a amazing man who kept us safe for 8yrs. While Obama has tripled the debt for our children. Bailing out banks only allowing them to fail again so they can then take them ALL over, that’s Obama’s goal..TO CONTROL THIS ENTIRE COUNTRY! Well it’s not going to happen, we won’t let it! Men & women fought and died for this Country for FREEDOM..and this radical socialist man wants to take it all away..everything they bled for. I wouldn’t care if he was purple, he is still a communist wanna-be. When will you ppl wake up and start paying your own bills and quit expecting the Government to do it for you.
it must chap your arse that obama is white.
I bet it really chaps henry’s arse that obama was raised by his white grand parents in Hawaii.First his father dumps him then his mother dumps him leaving the white grandparents to take up the slack and raise Barry.
chap chap
The only thing that we are trying to do is to get our country back from the progressive left. We come together as Americans to show that we are a strong, viable nation. The progressives are trying to destroy it and it WILL NOT HAPPEN!
I am with you Mary we will not let them destroy our country any longer but they won’t understand that as far as they are concerned they are the all knowing and even know what is best for you and I. We have no right to oppose them and if we do we shall pay with insults and as we have seen from the SEUI, violence when need be.
Nothing more patriotic than politicizing 9/11 and the 4th of July for ratings and partisan gain. Where I live there were many 4th of July teaparties under the guise of “food fun and 4th festivities”. Families showed up for the food and fun and found out it was a pulpit
I wonder how many of the “new” folks will be here come Monday morning. Seems like there was a call out to flood the blogs.
Hey progressive liberal racist hater criminals…..Only half of those 68 million people who voted for Obama were legit. The other half were inanimate objects like Mickey Mouse and dead people registered by ACORN crooks.
Obama won by voter fraud not by a popular vote. In the primary Hillary Clinton won my state but for some reason the electoral college gave her votes to Obama…. Go figure?? And if you want to get technical, Obama STILL has not produced his long form Birth Certificate or his college records that we have been trying to get access to since BEFORE the election. He has spent $950.000 in legal fees to keep them hidden. Most likely, Obama is not even a QUALIFIED natural born citizen who has stolen the Presidency. And further, why does my spell checker always want to change Obama’s name to Osama???? I’m just sayin……
Rock on GOP Protesters!!!!!!
In REAL numbers…. We seriously out number the left.
Presumably Democrat, true to form, will be sufficiently intimidated by a big turnout that they make more concessions on healthcare.
roxsteady: Reagan (note the spelling) may have opposed the Voting Rights Act, but since he wasn’t ever a member of Congress, he couldn’t have voted against it. Hint: if the book lists Dr. Seuss as the author, it’s not a history book.
The funniest part about the teabagger label is that the liberals are the ones getting teabagged by the teabaggers. So enjoy my nuts hopey changies.
“We won the election by a large popular majority.”
Not really. Only a few politicians won anything and they are using those wins to enrich themselves at “our” expense.
Teena? Obama won the popular vote by one percentage point more than Bush did in his second term. I didn’t hear you talking about Bush’s ‘Overwhelming Mandate’
Man, ya’ll are a tough crowd! Protests and marches have been held for decades, mostly by the liberals. Now it’s the conservatives turn and you can’t stand it! What’s up with the double standard?
2 million? 1 million? Doubtful. But there will be a bunch. Conservatives aren’t the ones floating the numbers out there, the libs are. Conveniently, if millions don’t show up it will be a huge ‘fail’ by your standards. We don’t care if you think it ‘fails’ or not. We are not doing it for you. We don’t care what you think. We know what we believe which is why this is happening.
This comment thread has to be the best example of how this country is going to hell fast. There is no reasoned discourse, insults are used instead of persuasion. No respect for your fellow citizens. Hate and vitriol is spewed in an effort to silence those they disagree with.
Racist statements against all races flung around with abandon. Stereotypes are used with no regard to the irony that those using them are so-called progressives. This is a pathetic display of childhood tantrum throwing.
I weep for our future.
After reading the first 40 or so posts, I’d like to share the words I saw on a t-shirt recently:
“A person of tolerance and diversity keyed my car!”
Look like even God is a taking leak on wingers today. Talk about pi$$ing on the parade!
Get the message, you morans. Have a miserable, soggy teabaggy day.
Viva La Tea Party!!
And God Bless America.
John. I was thinking the exact same thing. Seems like dissent is only patriotic when the other side does it.
When I discuss the healthcare agenda with my friends who are in favor of it and read the majority of the blogs who are for it I hardly ever hear or see any sensible explanation of why they are in favor. We do need help for those who are not in an insurance group or those that are losing their insurance because of the economy, but not this way. I’m absolutely against the public option, but when I ask friends why they are for it they don’t even know enough about it to discuss the pros and cons and some have never heard of it. This is the same attitude that elected our present president. In this time of crisis, in the first 6-1/2 months of office, he traveled to 14 different countries, accomplishing nothing but wonderful travel visits for him and his family. His czars, most with less qualifications than him and less artistry in rhetoric have been running the store.
It’s so easy to uncover some of you lemmings, your foul language says it all.
To be fair to the whiners and false claimers here, this is a war in the format prescribed by Jefferson and Adams. We’re at war against the Parasite and subsequently we’re well aware that you’re terrified. We expect you to continue to lie, make racist claims and so on. Yet what terrifies you the most is that conservative grass roots has grabbed the legitimate reigns of revolution in the spirit of 1968, Guy Debord and the anti-fascists. While you celebrate your being co-opted by a Soros globalist puppet, subjecting your progressivism to the extreme leftist capitalist form, we are the true movement that represents the working person. Your fascist leader prescribes a 9/11 “Day of Capitalist Service to the Profit of the State” while we remember through community and personal contemplation.
Globalists own the left now yet you’re too stupid to see it. The revolution’s on and it’s the right who’s leading it.
Please be ready to murder and maim the leftist way. You must be prepared to purify our takeover of Amerika.
Then we will put bullets in the heads of those within our ranks who are not of pure revolutionary fervor.
Praise Obama!
Call me a lurker, troll or whatever, but I came upon this post through the Instapundit link. The narrow-minded vitriol displayed by some of the progressive commenters is not that astonishing. People of all political stripes resort to clever, but nonetheless sophomoric name-calling instead of taking on an argument, especially when you’re not carrying on a face-to-face conversation.
What I do find astonishing is that some commenters claim it all to be a joke and those of us who don’t get it are the ones displaying our ignorance. I’m sorry, but calling someone a “toothless hillbilly,” teabagger et. al. in the name of humor still rests on a foundation of hatefulness and prejudice and it’s patronizing to imply that anyone who finds it offensive should get over it or get out. While you’re certainly free to write it, you don’t get a low-brow joke pass for promoting prejudice and uglliness just because you believe you hold superior political, intellectual and moral views to the butt of your “jokes.”
The townhall protests caught the Democrats flat-footed. I’m sure the 2 million estimate gives the mainstream media cover to not focus on the message of the protest, but to spin how the crowd size fell far short of estimates. I’m sure they won’t mention that none of the estimates came from anyone connected to the march.
If the crowd did happen to approach anything close to the Reid-Pelosi estimate, I doubt we hear nary a word about it.
I am impressed by the grammatical knowledge of posters on both sides of this argument. Please allow to correct my final sentence from:
“If the crowd did happen to approach anything close to the Reid-Pelosi estimate, I doubt we hear nary a word about it.” To:
If the crowd did happen to approach anything close to the Reid-Pelosi estimate, We’ll hear nary a word about it.
I just went through this entire blog checking for crude and nasty remarks. I did not count the ones that were iffy between parties, which were many, but the ones that pointed to Democrats because of what they said, won hands down 22 to 4.The overwhelming winner was Rocksteady. Sorry Tina
Blasting car radio people also belong to this group.
Kathleen, the social security abuse came from the Democrats when they started borrowing money from the funds, which when the bill was anacted if was forbidden to be touched for any other purpose.
10 Amendment: The powers NOT DELEGATED to the United States by the Constitution, NOR PROHIBITED by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.
——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
This means that the states have the right to establish health care, not that they have to or that they can’t. It is not prohibited and the states are the ones who should be handling it. On the other hand there is nothing in the constitution that allows the federal government to establish health care and Congress knows it.
——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————-
The variants in each state are so numerous as to be difficult to write a fair bill for the entire state, but when it comes to writing one for 50 states the variables are too numerous to even consider it fairly, let alone to enact it.
The name calling and venom being displayed by many in the blogs is deplorable. If more of the younger generations would apply the ethics and kindness that many of your ‘old geezers’ have, it would be much pleasanter weeding out the blogs that really have something to say either pro or con. Some opinions of both sides are valid in many cases and should help us to come to our own final conclusion. We will not all agree and no plan fits all and never will. Right now the cost of this type of program is so unknown that it is frightening. I worry about what we are leaving our future generations. There is no way to accurately assess the cost so we must watch as this progresses and as each version is formed and possibly incorporated into another. They should not be rushed to judgment as it was with the cap-and-trade and house version HR3200 passed in committee. I have still not read the entire RH3200. The various provisions pertaining to each part are all over the place and have to be collected, put together and then hopefully assessed correctly before it is accepted or rejected.
In the first 6-1/2 months of this administration, Mr. Obama was out of this country 14 times and accomplished little more than family vacations which included what was the equivalent of stopping by to say hello to relatives, but nothing achieved as far as his job was concerned. His 34 czars, many of whom don’t know up from down and are as questionable as the people some of the bloggers refer to, are doing all of his work. Now there is talk of running Hillary again and I am neither a republican nor a democrat, but when our choices come down to a product of Chicago politics and someone whose lies and corruption are well documented all over the internet, in books and by the media as it occured (who conveniently ignored all of it in the last election and probably will again). I can say to Michelle: “For the first time, I am ashamed to be an American”.
This is what your so called ‘teaparties’ are all about.
sorry Kathleen, It should read ‘was enacted it’
Please excuse the ones I didn’t catch. Haste makes waste.
Thia rally is HUGE! Way to go – Democracy in action.
Calling people who disagree with Obama’s politics racist is insulting to the true racism our country,(black on white, and white on black) and the world, still faces. It is sad to see what the Hope and Change campaign did to abuse the race-card when they were losing arguments. It still continues. This is very damaging to our country. The media is largely to blame, instigating racial divide.
The majority party in Congress continue to fan those flames. Keep America divided at all cost so that we can pass legislation in the dark while they bicker over who is more of a racist….
I did not vote for Obama, he is a RADICAL Progressive, as are his friends and associates. I voted for Clinton, both times. BUT, I did not vote for Kerry or Gore either, because they are far-left Liberals/Progressives? whatever. Does that make me a racist? NO. I am not a Liberal. I am not a Conservative. I am not even a Libertarian. I am an independent thinker. If I had a “blue-dog” Democrat to choose from, whom I trusted would stick to his/her core values once deluged by politics-as-usual in DC, I’d gladly vote for them over a Far-right Republican.
I have respect for hard working, law-abiding black Americans just as I do for white Americans. I have no respect for lazy bums(whatever race) that continue to suckle on the government teet, rather than working hard and taking advantage of the fantastic opportunities this country affords every citizen equally. I know sometimes people fall on hard times and need a leg-up. That is fine. Use the system. But work hard towards self reliance and self respect and remove yourself from the welfare books, so that the money can help someone else in need of assistance temporarily.
bush lied the nation into an illegal war.
we tortured iraqis and other people around the world.
bush and the gop spent us into the poor house.
and then…obama won in a free and fair election.
-your fundie tears of sorrow are delicious.
yes…i’m loving it!!!
you righties are a hypocritical lot.
you do not show the “office of the president” the respect you claim it deserves.
-unless the president is a republican.
-you bring shame on us all with your short memory and hypocritical ways.
disgusting.
go sit in judgement on yourselves.
i cannot wait until the mid-term elections.
-the gop is a cancer on american values…and i, for one, cannot wait to vote more dems into office.
good riddance to bad rubbish.
the gop cares only for money and advancing the cause of the “poor white man”.
here’s a newsflash to you right wingers…
“jesus was a commie liberal”
i doubt very highly that he would spit in your general direction.

you righties are a hypocritical lot.

People who live in glass houses should not throw stones!
After the last 8 yearsof B.D.S., and counting if you listen to Obama continuing to blame Bush, even when he is the one responsible for the current outrageous deficit.(went from 400+ bil to 1.38 trillion and still rising)
He said he will cut the deficit in half. How do you think that will happen? Oh sure, triple the deficit, then cut it in half, and you can lie and say that you cut the deficit in half. Which is a half-truth, if you consider that it was tripled before you cut it. Don’t let him get away with that lie when he tries to do it in a couple of years.
Bauer it was not an illegal war you idiot, there over 16 resolutions in the UN, the war was voted on by Congress, oh wait Bush lied, haha, you ******* liberals are so ignorant it’s hilarious, boohoo we waterboarded terrorists, really who cares if it saved lives and stopped other attacks, only liberals, you are no better than terrorists you stupid pieces of ****.
Thanks for the info on the memo. The internet is such an awesome tool.
I wish I had not looked at the comments. The level of arrogance and vitriol is amazing.
You are absolutely right! You won! What ever happened to being a good winner and not nasty anonymous internet goons?
It is ugly and unnecessary
The Two Million Citizens March!
Fuckliberals – (nice peaceful moniker by the way) It was an illegal war. No country has the right to preemptively invade another. Congress should never have voted to allow Bush to use force, while stating that they trusted he wouldn’t and Bush should never have invaded.
The only big clansman in politics today is the corrupt Robert Bird from West Virginia, who is a beloved (by Liberals) Democrat. Just like with Kennedy, you can be (truly) racist or sexist, and Liberals will adore you if you are a Democrat. But turn against them politically, and they will have their mobs of self-professed progressives calling you nasty names and assuming you are an ignorant, retarded hillbilly. Facts don’t come into this. Liberalism is their religion, and they are very tribal and visceral about it.
The Dems did win the last election, no argument there. The problem now is they are worried about the next election. Repubs are almost totally against their plans, but the real problem is almost 75% of independents are against them. Repubs + Independents= defeat. The real thing that scares politicians is the will have to look for a real job the day after election day.
The Democrats have to learn to fight fire with fire.they need to call the Right on their BS loudly, repeatedly and unabashedly. The Right is using the tactics the Nazis,Fascists and Communists did 70 years ago to gain absolute power, and their opponents let them get away with it.It’s time to take to the airwaves, the internet and the streets. The corporatist -theocratic-fascist cabal that has taken over the right must be stopped before the take power. If the GOP wins back Congress and/or the White House, they won’t play nice this time. They plan on killing democracy for good.
1-2 million Right people have spoken on DC today!
Congrats Greg Sargent. You set them up beautifully.
The littlest one ‘million’ beckite morans march indeed.
Look at the wingnut dingbats that strayed in here ‘cos of some nutjob winger’s “tip” about your blog.
Got punked huh, you batshite racist crazies ? The collective IQ of the 70K teabagging losers today is around 10. Thanks for the traffic, you idjits.
I don’t think people here are being tolerant and respecting the viewpoints of the tea party protesters. Why are some of you making bigoted assumptions about what these protesters are like based on your pre-concieved notions? That isn’t very tolerant, infact it is hate speech and I am reporting you to Nancy Pelosi.
Possible reason for the pi$$-poor, sucky mob numbers in saturday – most of them got confused and are now wandering around Washington state.
Another reason – these schizoids forgot to bring their imaginary friends to their ‘million morans’ march.
tea-baggers = low in numbers and low on IQ.
Whatever happened to glenda y’day ? Was she clutching her pearls in her studio cowering in her make-up room & refusing to come out ?
70,000 racist nutters from all over the country with 6 months of planning and peddling by glenda & co. 20,000 regular americans from one city show up to cheer President’s plans with 6 days of planning.
Guess which is “real america” ?
I attended the Tea Baggers’ rally in Washington today and observed the crowd as it marched down Pennsylvania Avenue and again once it filled in the first and part of the second blocks on the mall. I cannot reliably estimate the size of the crowd, but I can compare it to anti-war rallies in Washington from 2003 to 2005.
The crowd today appeared to be approximately 1/3 the size of the September 2005 ANSWER rally that police estimated to be about 150,000 people. Although the numbers were relatively small, the overall impression on the ground was that of a successful protest. I attended because I live in Washington and wanted to understand who attended these events. I expected a small crowd of die hard wingnuts. I was surprised by the size of the crowd. I was also surprised by the range of people in attendance. Some in the crowd appeared to be low functioning zealots suffering from serious mental illness and/or undisguised racial hatred. However, most of the people who marched by my vantage point appeared to be rather earnest but misled members of the lower middle class who were just regurgitating Fox News memes concerning imagined threats to America. (Death panels, free medical care for illegal immigrants, onerous taxation, insidious socialism, etc.) I purchased a “Don’t Tread on Me” flag that I attached to my backpack and then talked to a dozen or so people who were all very excited about the turnout and expressed the belief that they represented the majority of the American public. They sounded pretty much like the target group of Nixon/Phillip’s southern strategy. I received the impression that they were living in a Fox bubble and would be shocked if they do not win the day.
Tena and amk – You are two of the most bitter. partisan hit ‘n run bloggers I have ever read. Everyone sees through your “arguments”, so they carry little water.
Protesters in the thousands (tens, hundreds, or thousands of thousands), no matter how organized, do mean something – people are willing to brave a great deal of discomfort (driving, sleeping in their cars, etc.) to make their voices heard.
They cannot be ignored, no matter how partisan and ignorant your comments about them are.
And guess what? This is only the beginning.
Ofddjob – Sorry, I forgot to add you to the list of idiots posting in this discussion.
hey theunwiseone, it’s the beginning of what ? The unraveling of ignorants, nutters and racists like you in public ? Go ahead and make a fool of yourselves. We’ll just point our fingers and laugh at you.
A small plea. Moran is a family name and I cringed as a kid when moron was used interchangeably with it. Could people here please call a moron a moron?
Looks like some of you have egg on the face since the dc police and the parks and rec said there was over 1 million there. and guess what there was no problems.
hehe hate on haters can’t wait to read the blogs after the 2010 election!
Wow what a crowd yesterday. Comparing it to Obama’s ignaugural crowd it was just as big. There was a big differnce, the people here in this crowd paid their own way to the teaparty. When we left the grounds of the Mall and Penn ave it was cleaner then the stsrt. Did you see after Obama’s speech 100 tons of debris for his green start. I guess Van Jones was in charge of the trash cleanup. not!
Comparing it to Obama’s ignaugural crowd it was just as big.
The DC people responsible for crowd control, and the DC residents, strongly beg to differ with you. There’s more than a slight difference in crowd control needs and traffic congestion caused by 60,000-70,000 and 2,000,000, such as occurred during the most recent inauguration.
You can deny that all you like, but data are data.
I was at the Lawn with all of the red shirted, white, angry Beck loving neo-patriots and there in no way it was a million people or even close. There were small groups huddled around the Glen Beck inspired flags and the usual disaffected white males wandering in groups with the American flag desecrated by being incorporated into clothing. Having been to the exact same location for the Obama Inauguration and other large political events, this was small fry in comparison. However, it was an angry group with a real sense of absolute entitlement. Something not focused on by many. This sense of entitlement that they deserve to be the dominant deciders and that it’s being taken away….
DeMint Blames Lack of Tea Party Crowd Diversity on Timing, Media
Hat tip, Google News.
…The tens of thousands of protesters marched to the U.S. Capitol chanting various slogans and waving posters that voiced a rather broad array of grievances against big government and the leaders, particularly President Obama, who the protesters blame for its size and scope….
Hat tip, FoxNews.
WE DID IT !!!!!!!! AND THERE WERE AT LEAST 2 MILLION PEOPLE. SOME PEOPLE NEED TO RE-TAKE MATH IF THEY DON’T KNOW WHAT COMES AFTER THE THOUSANDS!!!!
And some people don’t even realize that Fox News agrees there were only tens of thousands.
Enjoy your denial.
oddjob
The count by capital police and other sources was over a million. When you people say tens of thousands you are trying to imply an insignificant number which is easily refuted by searching the internet. It isn’t working guys! Give me the website that says Fox states it as you do. There were also people of every race and age group in attendance and I have yet to find a site that reports anger. You accuse them of having a sense of entitlement, but you have it backwards. Back up your incorrect statements with website references.
To all of you potty mouths:I don’t think you are doing your party a favor when you use the despicable language and derogatory remarks to others of either persuasion, pro or con.

The District of Columbia’s population is approx. 550,000.
Over a million protestors would have caused such disruptions to every aspect of the city that it would have been huge news and there would have been zero way for the MSM to have avoided reporting that.
You are indulging in fantasy if you think there were that many people there.
Give me the website that says Fox states it as you do.
You are not aware that you can click on the text I cited and read the FoxNews article for yourself?
you’ll be one of the two million cruelest, dumbest, ugliest people on this planet if you go. I bet you profess to be a Christian as well! You people make me vomit.
“birthers, deathers and mouth-breathers”
We made a lot of jokes about old white folks (I’ll be one soon enough) and mullet-wearing hicks and gun-toting idiots here today
Scared is correct these freaks
It’s impossible to underestimate the intellect and overestimate the intolerance of the left.
A lot of folks on this site make me sad. When people march for what they see as negitive change(regardless of political afliation) they are called hillbillys and racists, sad, can’t come up with anything other than race. What did our parents think about the civil right movement I know what my (white) parents thought. There is more name calling on this blog then I would’ve ever imagined if white people are hillbillys for standing for our constitution, what are our leftwing black brothers? And I mean brothers by fellow americans. Shame on all you for race baiting name calling and religious biggitry some of you are spewing it does nothing for your cause
Well, if you don’t like racist how about shadow projection?
Like it or not, there’s no question that the teabaggers’ ire is well out of proportion to what Obama has proposed. Even CNN has noted it.
Oddjob no defence for the name calling or do you think it,s ok (means vs. ends)? Healthcare debate big government spending anti consitutional legislation has my ire raised and CNN is not my oracle. The shadow projection article was interesting until the final paragraph thats were I took exeption. oh well i still defend your right to disagree.
Presumably you were equally outraged when the George W. Bush administration used the Congressional Republicans to enormously increase the government’s deficit via Medicare’s coverage of pharmeceuticals with no provision at all for paying for the increased obligation, and with an explicit denial of authoriziation for Medicare to negotiate lower prices for those pharmeceuticals.
No comment on disresectful discourse? I can’t change the course of where the ship has been but I can point out the Iceburg. Do you think this administration is doing anything different? We saw as you put it a enormus increase in deficit thanks to Pres. Bush, do you think Obamacare will be cheaper or “not cost us a dime”?
I think Obama will be cheaper.
Oddjob any proof or basis or just taking the man’s word for it? How’s the bailouts and stimulus packages going? But I have your assurence that it will be cheaper
Hi buddy, your blog’s design is simple and clean and i like it. Your blog posts are superb. Please keep them coming. Greets!!!
