New Ad From Liz Cheney’s Group Bashes Olbermann, Matthews As “Afraid” To Debate Her

Liz Cheney’s new group designed to critique Obama’s national security policies, Keep America Safe, is putting the media on notice: It’s going to play rough. And weak-kneed liberal media whimps should be very, very afraid.

A source sends over a new Web ad just produced by Ms. Cheney’s group, which is devoted to making the case that Obama’s reversal of Bush policies is radical and dangrous. The ad bashes Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews as “afraid” to debate her on the “substance” of national security policy:

The ad airs footage of Olbermann, Matthews, and Ed Schultz mocking the recent announcement of her group, and concludes:

“Why don’t they want to talk substance? Why are they panicked? Why don’t they want to debate the issues?”

The implication being, of course, that the MSNBC gang is running scared from Ms. Cheney. If memory serves, though, Ms. Cheney has repeatedly been granted a platform on … MSNBC, again and again and again, to defend her pop’s legacy and champion policies that don’t even exist anymore.

Looking forward to the lily-livered liberal network crew’s response to this one. Maybe they’ll invite her on again a bunch more times to discuss her contempt for them.

Separately, we were hoping you could help us write a profile of Ms. Cheney over at the moderated wiki in the WhoRunsGov mothership. You can get instructions on how to do that right here. We assume you have lots to say about her.

They just want free advertisement. Heck, put out video’s that pick fights, get them aired, and voila, free commercials!

    They should just ignore them.

    But, they won’t of course.

  2. sbj | October 16th, 2009 at 03:22 pm

I think it’s pretty shrewd of Liz. Pick a fight with some gasbags and generate some PR. At the same time try to position yourself as the conservative go to guy regarding national security. At the same time begin creating a database of potential supporters and contributors. She’s already got Greg running her web ads for free!

  3. sluggahjells | October 16th, 2009 at 03:23 pm

I guess that means she is afraid of Rachel Maddow then.

  4. Greg Sargent | October 16th, 2009 at 03:25 pm

sbj, I’m a real sucker, what can I tell you

  5. HumanityCritic | October 16th, 2009 at 03:26 pm

Hasn’t Rachel Maddow asked Liz Cheney to appear on her show many times, only to be ignored? That’s why I don’t understand all the clumsy chest thumping. Dick Jr proved that she lacks the intestinal fortitude to debate Rachel.People with glass jaws really shouldn’t be throwing punches.

  6. sbj | October 16th, 2009 at 03:30 pm

“sbj, I’m a real sucker, what can I tell you”

Naww, you’re just trying to generate some controversy/traffic here on your blog. Get us all riled up and ‘n ****. You want I should pick a fight with ethan or something over Liz?

  7. mike from Arlington | October 16th, 2009 at 03:33 pm

MSNBC should fire back and ask why an organization concerned about national security is worrying about what commentators on TV are saying about them rather than worrying about how to solve America’s security problems.

Seems they’ve got their priorities wrong right from the start, kind of like Iraq.

  8. sbj | October 16th, 2009 at 03:35 pm

Keep America Safe provides handy talking points just like the admin!

  9. Ethan | October 16th, 2009 at 03:36 pm

Seriously? That’s how she suggests she’ll keep the country safe? By attacking opinion journalists with web ads?

    This is beyond laughable.

Cue qb tooth-and-nail defense and faux outrage in 3…2…1…

  10. Tena | October 16th, 2009 at 03:37 pm

‘Seriously? That’s how she suggests she’ll keep the country safe? By attacking opinion journalists with web ads?”

BabyDick is the brains of the outfit, too. LOL!

This is kinda bizarre. But it’s successful, in one sense, because it’s being talked about.

I’d like someone to challenge her so-called expertise, frankly, and see how she handles the ridicule.

  12. sbj | October 16th, 2009 at 03:42 pm

It’s not a bad website, really, as far as these things go. Good place for me to go and spread my propaganda:

  13. mike from Arlington | October 16th, 2009 at 03:47 pm

Like I said, out of the gate, they’ve got their priorities wrong just like with Iraq.

Just throw Iraq in their face at every turn. It’s the biggest intelligence blunder and it happened on Cheney/Bush’s watch. Seriously, how could they be so wrong?

  14. Greg Sargent | October 16th, 2009 at 03:50 pm

CT Voter! Haven’t seen you around in awhile.

  15. Tena | October 16th, 2009 at 03:53 pm

“CT Voter! Haven’t seen you around in awhile.”

Word! One of my favorite all time people!

  16. lmsinca | October 16th, 2009 at 03:57 pm

I’d love to see her go head to head with Maddow like others here. Rachel handled Dick Armey pretty well on Meet the Press, and he’s a son of a gun too.

Seriously, Greg are there any popularity polls on Liz yet? I didn’t find any but you probably have way better sources than I do.

  17. Greg Sargent | October 16th, 2009 at 04:01 pm

lmsinca, I don’t recall any polls measuring Ms. Cheney’s unpopularity…

  18. Ethan | October 16th, 2009 at 04:06 pm

I want to see a debate between Liz Cheney and Barney Frank wearing a blonde wig.

  19. Tena | October 16th, 2009 at 04:07 pm

“I want to see a debate between Liz Cheney and Barney Frank wearing a blonde wig.”

I want to see a 3-way with BabyDick, Megan McCain and Rudy Giuiliani in a blonde wig.

  20. Ethan | October 16th, 2009 at 04:09 pm

3-way debate, right Tena? (please say yes please say yes please say yes!)

  21. lmsinca | October 16th, 2009 at 04:11 pm

Greg, yes, I see I phrased that incorrectly. It would be interesting though wouldn’t it, say in comparison to Palin?

  22. Tena | October 16th, 2009 at 04:11 pm

    Ethan

    BWAAAAAAHAHAHahahahahahahaha!!!!!

  23. lmsinca | October 16th, 2009 at 04:12 pm

    sbj

I checked out the website and it looks like a good place to go to read her propaganda anyway.

  24. Ethan | October 16th, 2009 at 04:16 pm

    Heh. :)

    More Friday Funnies:

US: 2012 Rep Primary (Rasmussen 10/15):

    2012 President: Republican Primary

    29% Huckabee, 24% Romney, 18% Palin, 14% Gingrich, 4% Pawlenty

Regardless of who you would vote for, which candidate would you least like to see win the Republican nomination in 2012….

    28% Pawlenty, 21% Palin, 20% Gingrich, 9% Romney, 8% Huckabee

  25. mike from Arlington | October 16th, 2009 at 04:22 pm

Ethan, that means Dems need to put into action their own Operation Chaos and ensure we push either Pawlenty or Palin to the top of the ticket.

Maybe I should start a web site now and get people interested early.

  26. Tena | October 16th, 2009 at 04:23 pm

“Ethan, that means Dems need to put into action their own Operation Chaos and ensure we push either Pawlenty or Palin to the top of the ticket.”

    I love your devious mind.

  27. lmsinca | October 16th, 2009 at 04:23 pm

Tena, this one’s for you. In a new Beinart piece titled, “Liberals Lay Off Obama”.

“…Our do-nothing president did something that Democratic presidents have been trying to do for most of the last century: He celebrated a universal health care bill’s passage through Senate Committee. For good measure, the Dow topped 10,000 for the first time since last fall’s meltdown. Obama’s polling has even ticked up: According to Gallup, he’s more popular than he’s been since summer…Even this summer, when the press was announcing a dip in Obama’s fortunes, the health care bills were moving steadily through Congress, the stimulus was gradually slowing the nation’s economic descent, and Obama’s approval ratings never fell below 50 percent…Get ready for the “Obama comeback” stories, in which the same publications that recently declared that “he’s failing miserably” (Politico) and “suddenly looking unsure of himself” (The Economist) discover that he’s thriving again. But the boring truth is that he was pretty much thriving all along.”

  28. msmolly | October 16th, 2009 at 04:25 pm

    @Tena

How about a 4-way with Baby Dick, Megan McCain, Guiliani in a blond wig, and Sarah the Killah from Wasilla?

    LOL. Pass the popcorn.

  29. Ethan | October 16th, 2009 at 04:38 pm

“that means Dems need to put into action their own Operation Chaos and ensure we push either Pawlenty or Palin to the top of the ticket.”

Heh. Heck I’m happy going against any of those crazies.

  30. rukidding | October 16th, 2009 at 05:00 pm

Anybody who wants to seriously debate Lizard brain better make sure there is a solid set of rules and a referee to time responses to make sure everybody gets a turn.

Lizard brain has one loud mouth and the few times I could stand watching her she simply talked over anybody who begins to score points against her. One George S show she was such a complete embarrassment that Gwen Ifil who was not in the exchange had to interupt to tell Lizard brain that Georgie S. was trying to regain control of the conversation and that HE was the moderator not Lizard.

  31. sbj | October 16th, 2009 at 05:02 pm

Was that the one where she made Donaldson look like a clown?

  32. Tena | October 16th, 2009 at 05:05 pm

Imsinca – it makes me so crazy because it makes the left as out of touch with the rest of the country as the right is.

    :)

    Thanks for that.

  33. Gasman | October 16th, 2009 at 05:07 pm

My guess is that Olbermann and Matthews, in addition to Maddow have probably been repeatedly asking Cheney to appear on their shows. Liz Cheney is a disingenuous liar who would say, do, eat, or kiss anything to push any and all insane discredited memes of her daddy Dick’s febrile mind.

I hope that the schedulers at the Olbermann and Matthews shows kept records of Liz Cheney’s refusals or non-responses and I hope they release them forthwith.

Liz Cheney is possibly the only person in America with less credibility than her father. Olbermann and Matthews should agree to debate her anywhere, anytime, IF she is hooked up to a polygraph.

  34. Tena | October 16th, 2009 at 05:11 pm

“My guess is that Olbermann and Matthews, in addition to Maddow have probably been repeatedly asking Cheney to appear on their shows.”

I would imagine you’re right. I know very well that Rachel Maddow isn’t afraid to interview anyone – she’d dearly love a crack at the old man, I’d bet.

  35. rukidding | October 16th, 2009 at 05:17 pm

@sbj…no that was the one where Donaldson starting hitting her with facts and she simply raised her voice and refused to shut up and let anybody else get a point in edgewise. Listen sbj…daddy dick’s record is clear…he is on videotape…”we’ll be greeted as liberators”…”it’ll be a short war” if I tried to continue this post would grow to an interminable length…all intelligent people with powers of observation can see clearly what dick cheney did to our nation…the record of dickie boy is a cake that’s already baked and lizard brain is not going to be able to unbake it no matter how hard she tries!

  36. sbj | October 16th, 2009 at 05:36 pm

@rukidding: It seems you have a “Dick” obsession?

    Those eyebrows…

  37. Kathleen Hussein in Maine | October 16th, 2009 at 05:38 pm

Liz Cheney doesn’t debate, she doesn’t answer questions, she pivots to her talking points. This is a shallow attempt to get on TV, right from the balloon boy handbook.

  38. Liam | October 16th, 2009 at 05:45 pm

Lizard Cheney inherited her father’s torture genes.

The Crapple did not fall far from her ****** Dearest.

  39. alan | October 16th, 2009 at 05:45 pm

Our Lizzie talks OVER everyone else. Matthews does the same. That would be a good fight fest. The Cheneys have a capacity for punishment. They are the Most Discredited family in the US of A. 5 Deferments Dick – who had more important things to do than fight for the US in Vietnam – is the example Lizzie girl follows. If she is really concerned then volunteer, train and take up a rifle and go hunt the Talibanistas and the Al Q’s. Until then let her save her bs for FOX. They shovel that stuff all day.

  40. Liam | October 16th, 2009 at 05:46 pm

Edit: This site edits out the word: S@dist.

Lizard Cheney inherited her father’s torture genes.

The Crapple did not fall far from her S@dist Dearest.

  41. Tena | October 16th, 2009 at 05:50 pm

    You’re kidding me – s@dist?

That’s the most ridiculous bleep yet. I mean – you can’t talk about threaded objects with pointed ends that you use a driver to put into a wall – that’s bad.

    But s@dist – that’s just weird.

  42. Paul W. | October 16th, 2009 at 06:04 pm

Which brings me to my next point: “Grab a mop” Liz, stop carping at the media and help clean up the mess your daddy made. Or better yet, just stay out of this altogether.

  43. sbj | October 16th, 2009 at 06:10 pm

As HotAir points out, conservatives aren’t supposed to “grab a mop and help cleanup” – we’re supposed to “shut up and get out of the way.”

  44. just visiting | October 17th, 2009 at 09:22 am

funny stuff, it’d be news but no one watches msnbc….

  45. democracy7 | October 18th, 2009 at 04:58 pm

Liz like many rethugs talk loudly over any opposition, reiterating “talking points”. and never deviating from the lies.

  46. Pat Cook | October 20th, 2009 at 05:16 pm

    @msmolly

Heck, why not make it an 8 way with the four you mentioned above with Dubya & three other top young Republicans watching as they jack off!

I’d pay ADMISSION to see that. :) *LOL!*
