Media Matters Running Ads Attacking Lou Dobbs’ Birther Obsession — On CNN!
Okay, this is an intriguing new frontier in political media criticism. Media Matters, which has been attacking CNN for not reining in Lou Dobbs’ birther obsession, has now purchased air time to run a TV ad attacking “CNN’s Lou Dobbs problem” — during Dobbs’ show!
A Media Matters spokesman tells me the group has bought a week of ad time on CNN, MSNBC and Fox News in D.C., New York, and Atlanta, beginning Tuesday. The catch: Media Matters has specifically purchased time to air the ad during Dobbs’ show — putting CNN in the position of either running the spot or nixing it and making this a bigger story.

Voice Over: CNN’s Lou Dobbs has been promoting the false, right-wing conspiracy that President Obama hasn’t produced a valid U.S. birth certificate.

CNN, obviously, hasn’t yet been informed of the ad’s content. It seems that Media Matters’ goal is to get CNN’s competitors to pick up on the story as news, to bait CNN into responding, and to foment internal tensions over Dobbs within the network. Media Matters has been closely documenting the Dobbs/birther story, and this is a real escalation. It’ll be interesting to see how CNN and Dobbs react.

That previous quote from the article is interesting considering Cantor just said he doesn’t want to talk about the birther issue.
Maybe someone could contact Orly Taitz for proof Eric Cantor has tried to request her friendship online. That would sure put him in a pickle.

Cantor actually has addressed Taitz’ comments about his being her Facebook “friend.” Apparently, SHE’s the one who’s been sending out a bunch of friend requests and then boasting whenever someone accepts her request that this means the person supports her agenda. Cantor’s office issued a statement that when someone sends Cantor a friend request and he accepts it, they view that as an indication that the person doing the requesting supports Cantor’s positions, not that Cantor supports their’s (and most likely, they don’t have a clue what agenda most of the people making friend requests have!)
Basically, it’s just more **** from Taitz. It sounds like she thinks the politicians handle their own friend requests when, of course, they most likely have a staffer doing it, and I’d be willing to bet that most of them have a basic policy of just accepting pretty much any request they get. They might have names of some people they know might be problems on a “do not accept” list, but Taitz isn’t exactly a household name, and has really only been becoming more well known in the last couple weeks. The staffers for these politicians probably just had no idea she was anyone to be concerned about.
The more they bash the birthers the more they have to hide! Love it when a Rep. backtracks! Wait til HR 1207 comes up and see how the reserve fights it!

I have previously written Mr . Klein about Lou Dobbs. All of a suddenhen he is attacked as a result of the birthers. But, remember he has attacked the immigartaion problem. He hates Hispanics. Yet the American press, now to include Fox News Channel’s Bill O’Reilly, insist that they somehow inherently know with absolute certainty, that Barack Hussein Obama was indeed born in Hawaii, a “natural born citizen,” not just “a citizen” or a “native citizen,” and that millions of Americans who think he should provide a minimum level of proof, are just “crazy” -”racists” or possibly even “potential domestic terrorists” as Obama’s Department of Homeland Security recently suggested.
Since ALL Obama records remain SEALED, what files did O’Reilly and others investigate in order to draw their absolute conclusion that Obama is legit and millions of Americans are nuts?
What’s all of the stink about?
US Law establishes that while there are several ways one can become a US citizen, there are actually only three different types of US Citizens with three very different sets of qualifications and citizen rights.
A US Citizen
A Native Born Citizen
A Natural Born Citizen
Today, we have to add one more category, the “illegal” US citizen. But that story is for another day.
A foreign born immigrant, who has successfully navigated the naturalization process, is a legal US citizen with all of the Constitutional rights afforded a US Citizen with the exception of one, the right to be President of the United States. As a matter of Constitutional case law, – 94 ”Whatever the term ‘’natural born’’ means, it no doubt does not include a person who is ‘’naturalized.’’
In this regard, the issue of Obama’s adoption by Indonesian citizen Lolo Soetoro is also of consequence, as Obama could only be a US citizen by way of “naturalization.” There is no record of Obama naturalizing as a U.S. citizen upon returning from Indonesia.
All of this is at the heart of the debate over where Barack Hussein Obama II was born. His family and friends say that he was born in Kenya. His political allies say that he was born in Hawaii, our fiftieth state. Obama has stated that he was born in Hawaii and he has presented as proof, THREE different Certifications of Live Birth (COLBs) [ NOT the same as a Certificate of Live Birth ] and he has named TWO different hospitals located in Hawaii, as his official place of birth.
But since he has refused to open up his official birth records in Hawaii, nobody knows for certain where Barack Hussein Obama II was born. Contrary to leftist attempts to spin, the mere fact that such a constitutional requirement exists implies that one must provide proof of compliance, if and when asked to do so.
NOTE: One can be a US citizen without being a “native citizen” or a “natural born citizen.” It must also be stated that Hawaii issued Certifications of Live Birth to foreign born non-citizens of the US as a regular practice.
If Barack Hussein Obama II was indeed born in Hawaii, and this can be verified by authenticating his official birth records alleged to exist in Hawaii, then he could be a “US Citizen” and maybe even a “Native Born Citizen” having been born on American soil. To date, no such evidence has been made available for purposes of authentication.
However, one can be both a “US citizen” and a “Native Born citizen” and still NOT be a “Natural Born Citizen.”
As an example, what are often referred to as “anchor babies” are both US citizens and Native Born citizens as a matter of federal law. But as a matter of the US Constitution, specifically Article II -Section I, they are NOT a “natural born citizen” as their parents were NOT citizens of the U.S.
NOTE: Barack Hussein Obama I, Obama’s legal birth father was NOT a US citizen. He was a British subject and a legal citizen of Kenya.
Under “natural law” at the foundation of the “natural born citizen” clause, a blood descendent will inherit by way of natural law, the fathers name and citizenship, no matter where they were born.
Until the election of Barack Hussein Obama, all Presidents since and including Martin Van Buren were born in the United States, a descendent of parents who were both US citizens.
Why the Founders were “Birthers”
It was the Founding Fathers who wrote and ratified, “No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President;”
They based this clause on the following; “Congress, in which a number of Framers sat, provided in the Naturalization act of 1790 that ‘’the children of citizens of the United States, that may be born beyond the sea, . . . shall be considered as natural born citizens. . . .’’ 96 This phrasing followed the literal terms of British statutes, beginning in 1350, under which persons born abroad, whose parents were both British subjects, would enjoy the same rights of inheritance as those born in England; beginning with laws in 1709 and 1731, these statutes expressly provided that such persons were natural-born subjects of the crown.”
So, had both of Obama’s parents been US citizens, he would indeed be a “natural born citizen” of the US, even if he had been born in Kenya. By way of “natural law,” he inherited the name and citizenship of his father, in Kenya, not the US.
As his father was not a US citizen, but rather a citizen of Kenya, Obama inherited by birthright, natural law, his fathers name and citizenship. He is NOT a “natural born citizen” of the US, no matter where he was born.
The Founders exempted themselves from the “natural born citizen” clause because at the time of ratification, there were no “natural born citizens,” – US citizens born to two parents who were both US citizens.
But from President Martin Van Buren on, US born descendents of two US citizens did exist and up until the election of Barack Hussein Obama, those who became president passed the “natural born citizen” requirement in the Constitution.
Clearly, the Founders were very serious “birthers.” But why were they “birthers?” What were they so worried about?
Dual or Divided Loyalties
The president of the United States has unfettered access to ALL national security information. He is afforded powers unlike any other individual on earth. His finger rests on the Red button and his office is respected and revered around the globe. He is the international representative of every American citizen.
Such an office cannot be held by one with even the potential for dual or divided loyalties. The international pressure to act upon global interests instead of American interests is immense. Only one with completely undivided loyalties can be trusted. He MUST be a “natural born citizen” as the Constitution requires.
Above all else, the Founding Father’s feared a despotic central government that would one day turn its abusive power on its people. They went to great pains to design a Representative Republic limited in scope and power by constitutional text that would best secure the people against such an event, including Article II -Section I, intended to keep leaders with foreign loyalties from ever holding the broadest power on earth.
Then, they told us to alter or abolish any government that became a threat to Life, Liberty or the pursuit of Happiness.
They were “extremists…” They didn’t trust central power and they sure didn’t trust that power in the hands of someone with dual or divided loyalties.
Why the “Birther” Movement is EXPLODING!
Demonstrated by plummeting approval ratings only six months into office, the American people have seen enough of Obama’s “global” agenda, at odds with American interest, and what was once “hope” for “change” six months ago, has become fear, anger and discontent. Obama took office six months ago with a +28 point strong approval rating. Six months later, Obama finds himself at a -12 point approval rating, an unprecedented 40 point swing!
The Obama administration has named more unelected Czars in six months than pre-Soviet Russia named in its thousand year existence. They have forced industries into bankruptcy only to emerge the property of the federal government. They are ramming Marxist laws through a leftist congress so fast that members of congress don’t even have time to read them before they pass.

The people will have to figure out what to do next, but one thing is certain, – this “silent coup” will not stand much longer. The walls are closing in and Obama & Co. are trapped in their own massive web of deceit.

Why the Founding Fathers Were “Birthers”:
You need to explain why so many Republicans and cons are willing to trample on the rights of the sovereign state of Hawaii, whose records have already demonstrated that Barack Hussein Obama is indeed a natural born citizen of the United States of America.
The COLB issued by the sovereign state of Hawaii is legally admissible evidence in any United States court. Why are you people so willing to overturn their sovereignty in order to prove a highly unlikely point?

In the US Federal Courts we call expert witnesses to provide the veracity of documents. Dr. Chiyome Fukino is the official who provides veracity.
If you were to appear in court with your birth certificate I would not trust the document in your hands, instead I would call as an expert witness the state official in control of vital records to either prove or disprove your assertion.
In short, Obama’s actions are moot, you have Dr. Fukino’s proof which cannot be doubted.

Like the woman in the town hall meeting this week with her Congressman who demanded that the government keep its hands off her Medicare, facts and truth don’t matter – only emotion, fear and outrage count. Most readers of this blog know that I personally believe Obama was born in Hawaii and can prove it any time he sees fit. I have always believed that the BC issue was a smokescreen to control awareness of the fact that Obama was a British/Kenyan citizen at the time of his birth through his father who was never a US citizen.
This fact alone – as the Supreme Court made reference to in the Minor case (see below) – raises doubts as to whether a native born US citizen with a dual foreign nationality at the time of his birth can be President. The BC birther conspiracy theory has clearly and effectively shielded from view the true issue – which is a legal question, not a conspiracy theory.
But with our Government trying to sanitize Obama’s eligibility today in Congress by attempting to pass H. RES. 593 , I’ve come up with a new mantra for the BC birthers:
WHERE DO WE PLACE THE PLAQUE?
H. Res 593 states:
Whereas the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama, was born in Hawaii;
If they’re going to make that assertion so boldly and codify it in a Congressional Resolution then the American people, especially Hawaiian citizens, deserve to know exactly where in Hawaii Obama was born. Right?
This will be a source of State pride and also revenue for the municipality which can claim the exact spot where Obama was born.
H. Res 593 is intended to celebrate Hawaii’s entering the union. It makes great pomp out of its factual assertion that the 44th President of the US was born in Hawaii. So let’s not stop there. If the Congressional record will state Obama was born in Hawaii, it should also tell us where exactly in Hawaii he was born.
Honolulu is a city. But his birthplace is a spot, a certain address. That’s what we need. Because otherwise we can’t memorialize the spot. So here comes your mantra:
WHERE DO WE PLACE THE PLAQUE?
It doesn’t seem fair to the citizens of the municipality where Obama was born to deprive them of a plaque stating “this is where the 44th President was born.”
Most birth-sites of Presidents are given special distinction – some are protected and maintained by the National Park Service as National Historic Sites. For example, the place of birth for Teddy Roosevelt is a National Historic Site.
Why should Hawaii get the raw end of the stick?
Considering his historical run as the first African American President, doesn’t the place of Obama’s birth deserve to be declared a National Historic Site?
Of course, if Obama states unequivocally where he was born then historians will be able to thoroughly research that claim. And that’s all good because I’m sure Obama wants this cleared up. So let them make the Congressional resolution – just demand that the exact spot in Hawaii is made clear.
Was it a hospital? Was it in a house? If so, which house?
Is Congress really going to pass a resolution saying Obama was born in Hawaii without knowing where exactly in Hawaii he was born?
So listen up BC birthers, this is your new mantra:

It’s a respectful question. It’s not mean spirited. It doesn’t involve a conspiracy theory. And it will generate revenue and tourism for the people in the town where Obama was born. It will also provide something concrete for those concerned about his eligibility to properly research. Seems like a win win for everybody.

Obama has such a devoted following, that there is no limit to the lies, fraud, and cover-up people would be willing to do for him.

6) Hawaii state officials have said they examined Obama’s birth certificate and it is authentic–they didn’t say if it said, “U.S”. or “Kenya” Note how carefully they have worded their press releases.
7) The person who referred to “Mars” is dead on.

I watch CNN every evening but come 7pm, I always switch to another station because I cannot stand the bias that Lou Dobbs bring to the news. It just occured to me while reading your post, that this issue could be resolned quickly by simply producing a document, and validating it.
However, the longer this goes on, the more we are distracted from other issues which will take time to prove, but the more we debate them, the better chance or some of the opposition to understand what they are up to. If they are allowed to play out over time, by then it will be too late for our country.

1. First, thank you Media Matters for another fine crusade. You’re really good at using a subjects own words — in context — to tell the story. My only question is: why Dobbs; why not Hannity? I think Hannity’s blatant race-baiting and fear-mongering, especially during the campaign when so many were focused on daily events, did far more damage by creating this “monster” and giving “legs” and credibility to nationally televised fear and bigotry.
2. The hypocrisy and ignorance of this “birther” group is so pitiful yet dangerous, because it has become so ingrained in the fabric of who they are that I believe they really can’t see it themselves. Kinda like being stuck in a room full of skunks. After a while things smell so bad you don’t realize – and don’t want to believe – that some of that foul odor is coming from you, because you can no longer smell yourself. (It’s also hard for self-analysis when they remain in “attack” mode, rather than taking time to reflect on either what they do / say, or what is actually said or meant by others).
3. These so-called Americans may try to convince themselves that attacking this black “interloper” in the White House is a sign of their patriotism and willingness to fight for their country. When actually, their true colors are showing. Their attacks on the President of the United States and the internal damage being inflicted on this country by their constant attempts to undermine his authority are difficult to distinguish from the effects that Al-Qaeda might have, if they infiltrated our nation and did the same things.
4. Obama will never be able to produce any kind of proof to “be done with this” or “put it behind us,” because:

Anything other than a specifically Republican/right-wing source will be discounted as fraudulent and insufficient, because “birthers” have been taught by their manipulators to fear and distrust anyone else. (Although, I might note that it was the Republican-led FBI, CIA, Justice Dept., etc., of this great country of ours, which approved this so-called non-citizen to run for President of the United States. How lax were THEY?).
. The birth certificate (and whatever the next distraction will be) is not the real issue. While the available evidence seems to suggest that Obama is a natural born citizen, there is a stink surrounding the whole thing. Mr Obama has generally been unwilling to provide details. Some “experts” ( I put it in quotation marks because I do not really know that they are experts and we all know about experts like psychologists at trials) have claimed that the posted document is a forgery. All of this leads one to believe that something is rotten. Is it his citizenship? or something else? His mother and father both seemed to have a disrespect for America and the Law – so we can not just assume it is true because he says its true.

The “true” birth certificate issued to my parents was a negative-type copy of the document on file in my county’s official records, and I lost it a long, long time ago. What I will never understand about this right-wing antipathy and mistrust of what the right-wing considers liberal and biased media is that they cannot apply the same scruple to what is obviously conservative and biased media in the form of Lou Dobbs, Rush Limbaugh, and Fox News. Isn’t the essence of their aversion to the so-called liberal media the fact that the news is being presented through the lens of a particular political agenda? That viewers are thus regarding a mediated and politicized version of the facts and not the facts themselves? Why do they stop short of a critical view of the politcal other side of media? Surely Lou Dobbs cannot be trusted to present an issue without bias and for the same reasons that a liberal news anchor cannot be trusted: because he obviously has an ax to grind, a political agenda to promote, etc. I guess they can be just as gullible as those citizens who have been co-opted by the liberal media when the message is consonant with their own worldview… It, however, doesn’t speak well of their intellectual consistency.
On to Lou Dobbs. This latest incident (especially in light of the Daily Beast article posted by Mike from Arlington at the top of this page) indicates that the man is grasping at straws, for he has aligned himself with a person who is obviously out of touch with reality. I mean, really, comparing Jon Stewart et al to Nazi stormtroopers? That’s absurd to the max! Really, how many of her friends have been beaten or abducted for their views? Has she been beaten or abducted for her views? Most likely not. There is no comparison to be made between Obama and Hitler (or Stalin) and no comparison to be made between Obama’s supporters, no matter how fanatically they support him, and the Nazi brown shirts. To draw those particular analogies is unethical, outrageous, idiotic, and should create very strong misgivings about: a) the veracity of her(and Lou Dobbs’) case; b) her intellectual capabilities; and c) the agenda, whether personal or political, that motivates her to make such outlandish statements and to take such theatrical actions to, I guess, get what she perceives as the truth about Obama to the people of America. If we start calling into question her credibility, her ability to reason, and her motivations, we must do the same for Lou Dobbs.
Lou Dobbs is a demagogue, if nothing else. Why people, on either side of the aisle, listen to him is beyond me.

It breaks my heart to see the comments made by people claiming to love America, and all that she stands for, which includes our basic freedoms and liberties. First off, I would like to say that it’s BECAUSE of these freedoms and liberties that we even have the RIGHT to comment.
Secondly, I think it’s sad to see the number of people that blindly negate the validity of “birthers” claims, with responses that imply that ‘if you want to see the birth certificate, you must be a racist.’ It’s important to point out that NONE of the comments made by “birthers” have said anything about Barack Hussein Obama being a black man. We ALL know that he isn’t. His skin is darker than a ‘white’ persons, but we all know that his father was Kenyan Muslim, and his mother was white. That, in itself, makes him a mulatto, NOT a black man. That being said, NO ONE REALLY CARES!! I know several truly black people that would be qualified (per the Constitution) to run this country MUCH better than Barak Hussein Obama, and would proudly support and vote for them. However, he just hasn’t proven himself to me, so I didn’t.
Be that as it may, I was wondering exactly what his skin color has anything to do with him providing his COLB to be our POTUS, when I have to provide my COLB (the official ‘long form’) just to get my drivers license. I’m thinking our priorities are just a little out of whack here.
So, if you liberal lefters would STOP making this a ’skin color’ issue, and actually FOCUS on the COLB, maybe we could put this baby to rest.
Just an aside…I also noticed that the comments of the “birthers” gave source references, were grammatically correct, all words were spelled correctly, and punctuation was spot-on. Wish I could say the same of some of the others…looks like our Guvvermint Phunded Edyoukashun Sistem (GEPS) werked four y’all## oops, I mint !!

Actually, a great many of the “birthers’” comments do not give source references, are not grammatically correct, contain misspelled words, and do not punctuate properly. I guess this aside is intended to insult the non-birthers?
I will agree with you that automatically calling someone a racist because he or she questions Obama is wrong. A given person might be a racist and therefore dislike Obama because he is, as you say, a mulatto (which is an outdated and racialist term and denotes a state of being “not white”), but another person might dislike Obama because he or she disagrees with his ideas about health-care. So, yes, we probably should avoid calling people racist unless they make overtly racist comments.
However, there does seem to be a current of racism underlying this particular issue. Let’s look at it this way: currently, politics in America is framed in the context of “like” and “unlike,” of “other” and “same.” This, to a certain extent, is logical: a voter will want to vote for a person whose views are like or the same as his or her own. But it doesn’t stop there. An individual candidate is also presented as “a guy just like you,” a dude who likes to drink beer and watch sports (hence the debate over who America would better like to drink a beer with: Bush or Kerry?), a Washington outsider who steers clear of that normal Washington politicking that is so alien to the populace at large, and who goes to church (preferably a Protestant one) on Sunday. Obama has been consistently portrayed, by the media and by one internet conspiracy after another, to be “unlike” the vast majority of Americans. Most of the time, the difference is portrayed in terms of policies. Sometimes, however, it becomes a question of racial otherness. Does anyone remember the rumor that claimed that Obama was a Muslim? That he was duping the good Christians of this country into believing that he was Christian? The COLB controversy is another iteration of that rumor inasmuch as it fixates on Obama’s racial otherness. While the good people posting here may or may not be racist, the issue is, at some level, an issue of racial otherness and therefore of race.

I am an Independent. I have voted for republicans AND Democrats, but I do not think I can vote republican ever again. I don’t want to associate myself in ANY way with the Orly Taitzes of the world. Whats to not comprehend? The facts are simple. Getting a Hawaii birth certificate is as easy as showing a drivers license and presenting a date. They’ve made it very easy for people who have lost passports to get where they are going. Or for people with a lot to hide. Obama could end all this nonsense by releasing the facts. I’ve watched CNN and the other channels that spew lunacy and have given grown men chills up their legs and I’ve watched Fox and would propose that any one watch both channels for a week. I have a nephew that watches CNN all day, I asked him what he thought about “share the wealth” he said it was awesome and that Obama says it would be great for everyone. The birth certificate is online. During the campaign, some yokels posted “ooh, Obama’s going to be out of the campaign on Thursday because of revelations about his birth certificate. On said Thursday, I watched Drudge Report all day, waiting for the red and blue siren. Nothing.
One person in a great position to vet Obama is the head of the Democrat National Committee, Howard Dean. By training, he is a medical doctor. I am certain he’s capable of having doctor-to-doctor conversations with any hospital, doctor, or public health official in Hawaii.
During August 1961, when Obama was born, Kenya was part of the British Empire, so IS Obama had been born in Kenya, he would have been born a British subject, as were George Washington, John Adams, and Thomas Jefferson.
Birthers are in the absolute weakest legal position: they are trying to prove a negative: that Obama is not a US citizen. Burden of proof is on them. Plus, I’ve read two federal judges have thrown the case out of court, meaning there is not enough evidence for a case.

Not to mention the Dept and Justice, CIA and FBI, all three verfied Senator Obama’s US Citizenship, signed off in his APPLICATION TO PARTICIAPE in a NATIONAL PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY. Had he not been a US Citizen, all three would never have approved his application and his application to even RUN for his parties Presidential Nominee would have been denied by the BUSH Justice Department.

i love the idea of doing an anti dobbs ad on his own show, but this ad needs a lot of work before it airs. it is not a very good ad, let’s face it. first of all, the ad should show a photo of a birth certificate, and instead of simply having lou dobbs saying the word “certificate” repeatedly (that’s pretty weak) there should be sound of him calling obama “undocumented” (that’s the most blatantly racist thing he said by far) as well as clips of dobbs making his denials of the legitimacy of the birth certificate that we would be seeing on the screen before our eyes! just saying the word “certificate” doesn’t prove that dobbs was denying the legitimacy of said certificate.
I have to say, when the 911 truthers were flooding blog comments with their conspiracy rants in the Bush years, I found it annoying that people might associate my rational political opinions with the crazy beliefs of a fringe group that couldn’t even agree on the details of the conspiracy.
