Media Conspiracy To Black Out Bachmann And Tea Partiers Continues

I just got through watching Nancy Pelosi’s weekly press conference in the Capitol, and get this: Reporters didn’t ask a single question about the massive Michele Bachmann/Tea Party rally massing outside the building today. Not one!

Reporters asked a dozen questions, and for some reason, they only were interested in talking about the first major health care reform bill in legislative history to get within striking distance of law.

This outrageous media conspiracy to black out legitimate dissent on behalf of The One just shows you how corrupt and out of touch these elites really are. They’re in for a shock this afternoon, though. By my rough, eyeballed count, the Tea Partiers have massed at least 1,000 people on the west side of the Capitol.

More of this soon, but for now, a quick taste. Most prominent and visible sign in the crowd: “Get the red out of the White House.”

    Snark, snark.

Waddya mean, only 1000 people? The woman who stole the batshit from Carlesbad Caverns has promised that there would be tens of thousands.

    Great satire, Greg!

Tell me, has Grandpa Cornpants shown up yet with his “You librul commie socialist fascist Kenyan mooslums keep yer goddam hands off’n my Medicare and VA benefits”?

Within striking distance of becoming law? Get back to us when this thing has even a prayer of passing in the Senate.

The media doesn’t have time to cover that silly “rally”. Instead they are working on gems like this one from POLITICO:

“President Barack Obama sounded wistful Thursday morning when an Alaskan tribal leader invited him to visit the Last Frontier.

Told at an Interior Department conference that he’d be welcome in Alaska if he ever wants “to get away from it all,” the president replied: “I often want to get away from it all.”

“The only thing I do want you to understand is when I do visit Alaska it’s going to be in the summer,” Obama said. “I just want to be clear about that.”

I guess our plans to have Alaska secede may have to wait.

“I guess our plans to have Alaska secede may have to wait.”

I’ve been giving it some thought and I’ve decided that I want Gov Goodhair to win and then seriously try to secede.

At that point I might actually be able to talk Mr. Tena into coming with me when I permanently secede forthwith to New Mexico.

  21. Andy | November 5th, 2009 at 12:25 pm

I think TPM is the only one covering the teabagger rally. Even Fox Noise had to cut away to real news happening in Florida.

  22. amk | November 5th, 2009 at 12:25 pm

Apparently faux is reporting that tea-baggers are arriving “in droves”.

An apt description, don’t you think ? ;)

  23. Benton | November 5th, 2009 at 12:26 pm

Apparently, these itinerant teabaggers don’t have jobs. (Most have been bused in from other states courtesy of DICK Armey.)

That or Dunderhead-Mifflin gave them the day off to teabag publicly.

How to Decaffinate Old Used Teabaggers!

AARP Endorses House Health Care Reform Bill.

    http://thehill.com/homenews/house/66533-aarp-endorses-house-healthcare-bill

“Democrats scored a huge coup Thursday when the AARP announced its endorsement of the House healthcare bill.

The public support from the seniors’ lobby comes just two days before House members are set to vote on the landmark legislation.

“We started this debate more than two years ago with the twin goals of making coverage affordable to our younger members and protecting Medicare for seniors,” AARP CEO Barry Rand said in a statement. “We’ve read the Affordable Health Care for America Act and we can say with confidence that it meets those goals with improved benefits for people in Medicare and needed health insurance market reforms to help ensure every American can purchase affordable health coverage.”

While the endorsement hardly guarantees success for the Democrats, the group has a fearsome track record of getting its way in major political debates. The AARP played a decisive role in derailing President George W. Bush’s effort to add private investment accounts to Social Security in 2005. Two years prior, the AARP enraged Democrats by endorsing and helping to enact Bush’s plan to add a prescription drug benefit to Medicare.

Polls have shown senior citizens to be the hardest segment of society to win over on healthcare reform. An intensified effort by the AARP could provide a significant boost to the effort.”

  64. Benton | November 5th, 2009 at 12:55 pm

Bachmann is all they are talking about on CNN AND msnbc, cable news is officially a tragedy.

  81. Marina | November 5th, 2009 at 01:14 pm

Last Tuesday, 250,000 people called, wrote or emailed their senators and representatives in FAVOR of health care reform and urged them to pass a bill with a strong public option with no triggers. Hardly a mention of this in the press, but our elected representatives got the message.

This week, a few shouting teabaggers show up and they whine about the press not covering their rally? That in itself is a lie because the press is covering it.

They are not the majority, they do not represent the will of the American people. In fact, the will of the American people made itself known in the November 2008 election of Barack Obama who spoke passionately of fixing our broken health care system at almost every rally during the campaign. Therefore, this health care reform is not a surprise, this is the change we voted for. You could call it a mandate. The American people have spoken and the teabaggers do NOT represent the majority.

I find it odd that the teabaggers come to D.C. on the very same day when AARP declares their support for reform. Is it possible that some in D.C. knew of the date in advance and purposely tried to steal the spotlight away from AARP’s announcement? Just wondering.

  82. Tena | November 5th, 2009 at 01:14 pm

“How a Christian organization can come out against health care for people is beyond me. ”

Because they are not, strictly speaking, a christian organization. They are an anti-choice organization. The anti-choice crusaders hi-jacked both American christianity and the GOP.

Liam – Yes, AARP endorsement is a biggy. And the elders take their votes seriously.

Greg – are you listening ?

Liam’s right — AARP is the *REAL* news today.

The teabaggers are irrelevant, pathetic losers who will soon be consumed by their irrational anger and virulent (self) hatred.

Catch you all on the next thread!

    Millions want the reform.

  94. DownriverDem | November 5th, 2009 at 03:43 pm

Elections have consequences. Move aside you crazy tea baggers.

  95. Tuma | November 5th, 2009 at 05:10 pm

With this endorsement by AARP, one thing is sure to follow…Beck and Co. would go after them. Would call on all teabagging grannys and pappies to withdraw membership. AARP must be ready to take them on…

What is most amazing is that this was Michele Bachmann’s attempt at getting herself out-there (no pun intended) and show her leadership skills in launching her bid for President 2012!

    Palin//Bachmann 2012!
