GOP Planning Televised Counter-Attack Against Obama And ABC News

The Republican National Committee, furious with ABC News for granting the Obama administration airtime to discuss health care, is planning to use its in-house TV studio to air a counter-attack starring GOP members of Congress, according to an internal RNC memo I’ve obtained.

Yesterday, after ABC announced that they would be broadcasting wall-to-wall coverage next Wednesday from the White House featuring Obama answering audience questions about health care, the RNC slammed ABC for planning to air “a glorified infomercial to promote the Democrat agenda.” ABC dismissed the criticism.

Now, however, the RNC is planning to respond — on the air. In a memo sent to GOP press secretaries on the Hill that a source sent over, the RNC wrote:

Next Wednesday, the RNC will make our television studio available, for the entire day, for House and Senate Republicans to conduct satellite interviews with local network affiliates in their home states or congressional districts, including the 211 ABC affiliates nationwide. The RNC will absorb the cost of the satellite time and offer assistance in setting up the satellite interviews with the local affiliates. Republican Members of Congress can use this opportunity to discuss his or her views on health care reform as well as to respond to President Obama’s health care plan.

The RNC TV studio will be available the entire day of June 24th. Please RSVP at your earliest convenience as space is limited.

I always thought spontaneous tweeting was their strongest suit. They should stick with it.

So because it was illegitimate for Obama to be on ABC they’re all going to go on local ABC stations? I mean they’re politicians so they should get their message out to the voters as best they can, but I’m still not clear what they’re upset about.

I sure hope they get Bobby Jindal to host the GOP’s rebuttal. It worked wonders for them last time.

Wow – can’t wait. You just know that the GOP counter-programming will be the same kind of huge success that the GOP has been seeing so far this year.

    MMMM – tasty.

You quoted “a glorified infomercial to promote the Democrat agenda.”

Why didn’t you write “a glorified infomercial to promote the Democrat (sic) agenda.”

If Republicans insist on this infantile concept, can’t we at least point it out to those who do not recognize the problem?

How is ABC airing discussions oh the coming health care reform different from, say, Pres. Bush getting and using prime time coverage to talk us into going to war (illegal and based on lies)?Presidents get to do that, it’s called the bully pulpit. Every time and in every instance that the repubs are faced with the disadvantages of not being in the White House, they whine about how it’s not fair. Whatever people, you make your party look as if it’s full of idiots and bufoons.Very tiresome.

They sound like those whiny parents who demand that every kid playing T-ball get a trophy, even last place.

Screw the God Damn Republicans. Get out of the way GOP! We want health care reform. I just visited England and yes… their health care system is 100X better than ours. Universal Health Care is GOOOOOD! VERY VERY Good. We need it.

So the Republicans support the Fairness Doctrine now?

Wow! The GOP is producing another episode of The Twilight Zone… of course, totally fact-free & histrionic.

I see Rev. Wright has joined us here!
Good for you Republicans, start using the same ghetto policies the kenyan man uses. You can take the man out of the ghetto but you can’t take the ghetto out of the man I guess? I say let’s start storming the homes of Pelosi, Ried, Frank and others that are stealing our children’s money (before they make it) like ACORNITES did when the thug sicked them on the CEO’s. Yeah people two can play this dirty new game from the communtiy organizer thug.
