GOP Rep Compares House GOP To Iranian Opposition

GOP Rep Pete Hoekstra has the tweet of the day:

Iranian twitter activity similar to what we did in House last year when Republicans were shut down in the House.

Via Spencer Ackerman. This takes the admiration of the Iranian opposition among some GOPers to new levels, since a House Republican probably couldn’t pay the Iranians a higher compliment than comparing them to House Republicans.

In all seriousness, members of Congress do frequently display an inflated sense of their importance on the world-historical stage, so this kind of thing isn’t really all that unusual.

Update: Eric Zimmerman catches another one: A Texas Republican Rep tweeting that House Republicans are one of the “oppressed minorities” that’s using “social media to expose repression,” such as that inflicted on them by Democrats.

See, this is what I’m talking about. Twitter is clearly the GOP’s key to victory in America. We should all be encouraging the GOP to twitter more. It’s clearly their strong suit.

It’s about time the Republicans got some credit for their brave work. They’re up on the Hill, risking their lives, multiple days a month. The Iranians have it easy.

This is supposed to be the “Daddy” party?

  8. williamc | June 17th, 2009 at 02:48 pm

They are the Daddy party, but they, like my daddy, are WATBs….

wahh, the liberal media doesn’t take our morally bankrupt conservative principles seriously even though they just recently brought the world to the brink!

wahh, no one respects us because we called George W Bush a genius amongst men!
