Dems To Ratchet Up Attacks On Bachmann Over Credit Card “No” Vote
Looking to surf the Obama wave on an issue being elevated by the White House, the DCCC is ratcheting up the attacks on GOP Rep Michele Bachmann and other House GOPers who oppose a new Obama-backed bill that would crack down on credit card company practices that shove borrowers deeper into debt.
A Democratic operative sends over a new Web ad being launched today by the DCCC, targeting Bachmann with some goofball footage and music that seems well suited to the ad’s colorful target:
The bill, which passed the House yesterday and Bachman opposed, is called the “Credit Card Holders Bill of Rights,” and is designed to tighten restrictions on a range of lending practices condemned by consumer groups.
The ad characterizes Bachmann’s No vote by stamping a big red X on the screen, accompanied by the sound of a harsh and loud rejection buzzer. It’s a sign, if nothing else, that there’s really no shortage of ways to depict and dramatize the “GOP is the party of No” message in grating ways.
Bachmann’s oddball ways have caused her to emerge as a bit of a national lightening rod, so the DCCC is likely to follow with more stuff like this. More broadly, the spot is in keeping with the DCCC’s efforts to capitalize on Obama’s personal popularity, and the belief of majorities that he’s fighting for ordinary people, in order to box in Republicans as harsh obstructionists of Obama, his agenda, and the people’s will. In this sense, it’s a pretty reliable preview of what we’ll be seeing in 2010.

I had trouble playing the video…
Leave Michelle Bachmann alone! We don’t want her gone from Congress. She’s more fun than any other three wingnuts put together.
And leave Michael Steele alone – I like him where he is. Although he and Michelle would be a hell of a road show.
Not their best work in my opinion. Any attack ad against Michele Bachmann should include soundbites of some of the wacky things she has said on the floor of the house. $34k isn’t a boat load of money and I don’t think most people will be moved by the video unless they were already aware of how crazy she is.
Okay, finally got to see it. I was kinda disappointed though… love the game-showy music but with all of the wacky MB material out there to choose from, couldn’t they have included any of that? Perhaps use a shot of her opening and closing those crazy eyes when she talks?
.
And by “talk,” of course I mean, sputters incomprehensibly.
the Eric Kleefeld dream ticket: Palin-Bachmann 2012
The ad kinda sucked. Cheesy graphics, awful music & none of her crazy talk? I’ll pass. I do agree that we need MB in the Congress. She is just too hilarious to not keep in the spotlight. I love getting high and listening to her interviews. Hella funny stuff.
My name for her: Botch Woman!
Have you read this bill? She’s right on the money!
