A Dozen Demonstrators Arrested At Pelosi’s Office — Shredded Copies Of Health Bill
Looks like the demonstrators really are serious about storming the Congressional barricades.
A dozen people were arrested this afternoon in or just outside of Nancy Pelosi’s office, some for unlawful entry and others for disorderly conduct, the Capitol Police confirm, adding that some of the arrested were throwing papers around.
Four demonstrators were arrested for refusing to leave her office in the Canon House Office Building, and eight more were arrested for unlawful or disorderly conduct, Capitol Police spokesperson Kimberly Schneider tells our reporter, Amanda Erickson.
Apparently those who were arrested outside her office were also throwing papers in the hallway, the spokesperson says. It couldn’t immediately be determined what sort of papers the demonstrators were tossing or why the paperwork ticked them off.
This is less serious than arrests at Pelosi’s office in the Capitol itself would have been, but a dozen for unlawful entry and disorderly conduct is definitely noteworthy. More soon.

Greg, what is known about the security measures used to ensure lawmakers’ safety against these people? Operation Rescue actively promotes and helps enable the murder of physicians and others who provide reproductive choices. They have publicly burned photos of Pelosi and Reid “in effigy.” I am very concerned about their proximity to congressional members and staff. Then again, my concern meter is going off the charts because of the ongoing shooting situation at Fort Hood, where I have a family member stationed.

Officials at the Fort Hood Army Base in Killeen say 12 people are dead and about 30 are wounded in a mass shooting on the property.
According to officials, a soldier carrying two handguns opened fire at about 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Soldier Readiness Center at the post in Killeen, Texas.
“It would be an environment that would be very susceptible to casualties or injuries,” Killeen City Manager Connie Green said.
Officials said the gunman was shot and killed after quick response from security officers.
At least two other soldiers were taken into custody.

Who are these “we” and “they” you keep referring to? With remarkable consistency, the public option polls anywhere from the high 50s to the mid 70s in percentage of the U.S. population. I attended the rally and visited several Congressmen’s offices. In spite of the incident at Nancy Pelosi’s office, it was a very positive event. We were very warmly welcomed by many of the staff’s and met a few Representatives.
While I deplore the methods of the few who were involved in the incident, I can understand their frustration. They were only a dozen among thousands who visited all three of the Congressional office buildings in that area.
There was plenty of security at all entrances to all the buildings, in fact, I finally left off my belt as it set
off the magnetometers at the airport and the Canon building.
This was a very positive and educational event. The actions of a few should not mar the experience for the great number of citizens who attended and caused no difficulties for anyone else. The hospitality at the Canon building was exemplary, and I wish to thank all the Congressmen and their staffs that I met. A very heartfelt “Thank you” goes to Michele Bachmann and her staff for organizing this event and making us feel so welcome. Thank you also for the flag pin as I forgot mine.
It’s refreshing to hear “Sue’s” positive experience in visiting our nation’s capital.
But compare “Sue’s” wholesome rhetoric with that of her intellectual leader: Republican Michelle Bachmann.
Republican Bachmann uses proto-violent language on a regular basis: “armed and dangerous”, “whites of their eyes”, she’s even suggested that many members of Congress are un-American.
