Franken Win, Climate Change Helping Fundraising For Dems?

Seems there may be a side benefit to Al Franken’s victory: The increased likelihood of realizing the Dem agenda could be helping galvanize rank-and-file Dems to open their wallets and give the national party more money.

A DCCC source sends over a fundraising email that’s about to go out containing this interesting factoid about their fundraising numbers on Tuesday, the day Franken won:

Thanks to you, we didn’t just meet our June 30th grassroots fundraising goal — we shattered it by raising an astounding $1.2 million. Your astounding show of support on Tuesday alone brought in more contributions to the DCCC than on any day since President Obama’s election.

Was that partly the result of Franken’s victory? Hard to say. On Tuesday the DCCC blasted out a fundraising solicitation trumpeting Franken’s win and warning of a “rumor” afoot that Republicans were about to post record-breaking fundraising numbers that could steal the Franken thunder a bit.

Whatever Franken’s role, something seems to have made Dems open up their wallets in the wake of his victory. There’s also the passage of the climate change bill. Of course, Franken’s win is equally likely to get Republicans to open their wallets, too.

Minnesota elects some characters, that’s for sure. Franken is a fricking clown.
