Breaking: Joe Sestak Is Running For Senate! Again!

Because this blog is devoted to chronicling every twist and turn in Joe Sestak’s thinking as he decides whether to challenge Arlen Specter, it’s imperative that we bring you the latest:

Sestak has now said he’s going to run for Senate. Again.

It’s not easy to keep track, so let us catch you up. Yesterday Sestak made a splash by telling a local paper that he is “going to get into the race.”

After that, his spokesperson seemed to pull that back, saying that in fact he had not definitively declared that he’s going to run.

But now comes the latest, in an interview with the Philadelphia Inquirer:

“Unless something unexpected happens, I am going to get in this race.”

Guess he’s running again. To be clear, we sympathize with Sestak’s plight. His position is that he’s going to run, but he hasn’t yet announced and isn’t campaigning yet. It’s an understandable position for a candidate-in-waiting.

Nonetheless, if Sestak’s going to make us wait before saying he’s officially in, this blog reserves the right to have as much fun at his expense as we possibly can.

Greg, Is this his final decision? Did he talk to the family dog and tell him he couldn’t take him our as often? I mean jeez, in all seriousness, has this EVER happened with any previous senatorial candidate?

If Sestak decides to run for Congress again, he’s got at least one challnger: http://www.delcotimes.com/articles/2009/07/02/news/doc4a4d07f564667946221192.prt

Keep pokin’ him, Greg. As they say, “There’s no such thing as bad publicity.” (Here’s hoping Specter retires.)

Here is what I don’t understand. Why won’t he just stop answering the d@mn question? Why not just say “On this date I will make a firm announcment” so he doesn’t have to worry about answering it anymore? I mean I can’t be the only one who is close to turning on this guy behind this. I mean this is close to being diva level cr@p

I’ll be in the booth voting for him. Specter needs to go.

“Unless something unexpected happens, I am going to get in this race.”

A month ago he was quoted as saying it would take “an act of God” to keep him from running.

At this point, Sestak knows how much money he raised for the quarter (hasn’t released it yet, because he always waits until the filing deadline). Since he’s already admitted that he doesn’t expect to out raise Specter, just get enough millions to get his name out there, he should have all the information he needs to announce.

He’s certainly an expert at making headlines out of no news. How long until the papers and blogs (and voters) get tired of this little boy crying wolf?

Okay, but he may be a diva (I don’t know for certain, but my impression is that in the military senior ranks there is no shortage of ego, and he is a retired admiral), and besides that if this is the question the press most asks him responding in such fashion as to cause another question to be asked is a way of staying in the news. The more he stays in the news the more potential voters become aware of him for the first time.

Sestak has not officially launched his campaign – nor will he. In the near future, Sestak will abruptly resign from office, citing personal woes. Quite a drama unfolding behind the scenes at present. Right, Congressman?
