Saturday Roundup
* Emerging meme: Obama’s Asia approach, widely maligned in the media, has in fact been vindicated, with the latest being the IAEA censure of Iran on nukes. Laura Rozen and Steve Benen make the case.
* The Sunday shows tomorrow are likely to offer a preview of the coming political battle over Afghanistan.
* Head spinner of the day, via Mike Allen: Newsweek’s Jon Meacham says we should take a possible Dick Cheney run in 2012 seriously because he “has a record on which he can be judged.” Indeed he does…
* Meacham’s not the only one: Check out the new group called “Draft Dick Cheney 2012″, which argues, intriguingly, that Cheney has made the GOP “strong.”
* White House senior communications adviser Dan Pfeiffer, signaling that the White House blog will aggressively target media coverage, skewers Charles Krauthammer’s latest attack on health care reform.
* Good read: Alex Isenstadt with a useful overview of the spin war between the parties over the economy, a battle that’s going to be far more central to 2010 than it first appeared.
* GOP Rep Pete King calling for Congressional probe of the state dinner gate crashers.
* John Cole ponders the media overreaction to the gate crashers.
* Kathleen Parker says the new GOP “purity test” is akin to a suicide pact for the party, but in fairness, this is not an idea that has widespread support among party leaders and is unlikely to have significant consequences.
* Uh oh. Storm brewing in Right Blogostan as Obama’s Justice Department rules that the federal government can honor some existing contracts to fund ACORN.
What else is happening?

” Head spinner of the day, via Mike Allen: Newsweek’s Jon Meacham says we should take a possible Dick Cheney run in 2012 seriously because he “has a record on which he can be judged.” And that record makes him viable how again?
* He’s not the only one: Check out the new group called “Draft Dick Cheney 2012″, which argues, intriguingly, that Cheney has made the GOP “strong.””
That’s almost as funny as Glenn Beck saying about Palin: “why am I hearing your voice? I’m not in the kitchen…”
Why am I hearing Dick Cheney? I’m not in Gitmo…
Run, Dick, Run!
Sometimes I’m not sure if the statements coming out of the GOP are serious or some kind of parody or April Fool’s joke. But it’s November…
In 2002 my sister, who was working in the OEB for Shrub, took me, her husband and a friend on a West Wing tour: we had to provide a driver’s license and another form of ID for criminal background check and wait for the SS to OK us. Never felt more “guilty” for nothing in my life. Which is I guess their job.
Rep. King is barking up the wrong tree.
So the Republican sugar-daddy funded, money losing* vanity press outlet Politico.com is pushing conservative Jon Meacham’s misreading of both history and public opinion?
Republican Cheney’s record was a string of military failures, the worst economic collapse since the Great Depression, and the use of sadism to elicit false confessions that he used to lie US into the Iraq War (which was waged almost as miserably as the Republican’s failure in Afghanistan).
And even the last three rational Republicans recognize that.
* Has Politico.com made any money yet? Last I read it was still losing money.
Obama Bars Thousands of Lobbyists From Washington!
Hundreds, if not thousands, of lobbyists are likely to be ejected from federal advisory panels as part of a little-noticed initiative by the Obama administration to curb K Street’s influence in Washington, according to White House officials and lobbying experts.
The new policy — issued with little fanfare this fall by the White House ethics counsel — may turn out to be the most far-reaching lobbying rule change so far from President Obama, who also has sought to restrict the ability of lobbyists to get jobs in his administration and to negotiate over stimulus contracts.
The initiative is aimed at a system of advisory committees so vast that federal officials don’t have exact numbers for its size; the most recent estimates tally nearly 1,000 panels with total membership exceeding 60,000 people.
Under the policy, which is being phased in over the coming months, none of the more than 13,000 lobbyists in Washington would be able to hold seats on the committees, which advise agencies on trade rules, troop levels, environmental regulations, consumer protections and thousands of other government policies.

(And of course Pres. Obama’s recent trip was Important on several fronts, those who are honest and Intelligent may be will comment on it and explain to the public why and override the negative lies and spin.)
” “They could have had anthrax on them,” said Peter King, the ranking Republican on the House Homeland Security Committee. “They could have grabbed a knife from the dining room table.”
”
You aren’t kidding, ChuckinDenton. It reminds me of when I was working at the Court of Appeals. We had a case where the issue was whether or not a butter knife was a “deadly weapon” for purposes of the statute. The Chief Justice was this little tiny guy and he and a bunch of judges were arguing about it in the hallway and Cj Guittard picked up a table knife from the kitchen and held it against another justice’s throat to see if he felt threatened.
Doesn’t sound like much but it was hilarious.
Yeah, they could have grabbed a knife off a table and instantly found themselves on the floor with about 15 Secret Service agents on top of them.
That couple is apparently living the life of Zelig, if anyone else remembers that Woody Allen movie. They just want their pictures taken with important people.
Oh, wait, I’m not clapping loud enough…
Palin / Cheney 2012!
The Dream Ticket !!
(for the left)
” “Draft Dick Cheney 2012″, ”
Wait a minute -that will be the first time Dick was drafted – is he gonna ask for another 5 deferements?
“Palin / Cheney 2012!”
Dream ticket – word up.
I really cannot imagine a dreamier ticket for us.
Angellight – “Obama Bars Thousands of Lobbyists From Washington!”
Don’t you love it?
The doubters never learn.
Tena, you should keep a file of ‘things Obama did right’ that you can rattle off for the doubters.
Speaking as one of the doubters, the list I’ve got of complaints is significantly longer than the list of ‘things Obama did right’ and many of those complaints are very serious issues.
Mind you, Obama benefits from being a 1,000 times better a leader than Republican Bush and 100 times better than Republican McCain.
But Obama should have been able to be 10,000 times better a leader than Republican Bush and a 1,000 times better than McCain without breaking a sweat.
But it is what it is… and it is still only his first year in office.
Newsweek’s Jon Meacham says we should take a possible Dick Cheney run in 2012 seriously because he “has a record on which he can be judged.”
A record for which, in a sane world, he would be up on war crimes charges by now.
“he would be up on war crimes charges by now.”
No kidding. It’s really amazing that he is so confident that he hasn’t just disappeared like all other VPs have after it was over. He’s running a shadow government.
News Ref – here’s the thing, baby – I like you and I don’t want to spend all my time here arguing with you. I already have made myself one problem and I don’t want anymore.
I don’t like fighting that much, especially with people with whom I fundamentally agree.
I’ve been through administrations since Eisenhower. You aren’t going to change my mind. I’m not going to change yours. So please just agree with me to disagree and don’t argue every time.
I’d rather get along with you.
Peter King is a clown! How do these people even get elected? He sounds as stupid as the rest of his party. It also says a lot about his district. They’re clearly not too bright either!
‘Newsweek’s Jon Meacham says we should take a possible Dick Cheney run in 2012 seriously because he “has a record on which he can be judged.” ‘
This just sounds like a member of the MSM trying to justify their continuing coverage of the entirely irrelevent Cheney family.
Benen channeling the latest DailyKos poll on who will vote in 2010:
“Among self-identified Republican voters, 81% are either “definitely” voting next year or “probably” voting, while 14% are “not likely” to vote or will “definitely” not vote.
Among self-identified Independent voters, 65% are either “definitely” voting next year or “probably” voting, while 23% are “not likely” to vote or will “definitely” not vote.
And among self-identified Democratic voters, 56% are either “definitely” voting next year or “probably” voting, while 40% are “not likely” to vote or will “definitely” not vote.”
Markos calls it “shocking”.
Benen says: “GIVE VOTERS A REASON [to come out and vote].”
http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/archives/individual/2009_11/021197.php
Benen’s conclusion: “the solution isn’t exactly a mystery — if Dems do what they were elected to do, they’ll be pleased with the results. I keep thinking about something Rep. Gerald Connolly (D-Va.) said earlier this month: “We must deliver. I need to give Democrats something to be excited about.”
Finish health care. Pass a jobs bill. Finish the climate bill. Re-regulate the financial industry. Finish the education bill. Pick up immigration reform. Repeal “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.” It’s ambitious, but a Democratic Congress and a Democratic president can prove to the country that they know how to tackle the issues that matter and know how to get things done.
The R2K/Daily Kos poll shouldn’t cause panic among Democratic leaders; it should serve as a wake-up call.”
Maybe Dan Pfeiffer could take on Peggy Noonan next.
Andy – LOL
“This just sounds like a member of the MSM trying to justify their continuing coverage of the entirely irrelevent Cheney family”
That is probably the comment of the month regarding Dick and Babydick Cheney.
“Newsweek’s Jon Meacham says we should take a possible Dick Cheney run in 2012 seriously because he ‘has a record on which he can be judged.’”
I think a Cheney run would be cathartic for the nation. It would give people ample opportunity to air their grievances against the Bush administration, since we weren’t really given that opportunity in 2008 because Bush was no longer on the ballot.
Of course, McCain, because he sought to continue most of the Bush administrations policies, was deemed “Bush III,” but McCain was only indirectly, or not at all, responsible for the Bush administration’s most controversial policies. The same certainly can’t be said for Cheney.
Tena… on that Rep. King story that “Anthrax” line must be someones talking point because I have it heard it a couple of times already in the past couple of days. I am guessing we will hear it a lot tomorrow and all next week.
I do think the “gate crashers” incident was a serious breech of security but let the secret service and homeland security do their investigation. Rep.King needs to chill a little.
“Emerging meme: Obama’s Asia approach, widely maligned in the media, has in fact been vindicated, with the latest being the IAEA censure of Iran on nukes. Laura Rozen and Steve Benen make the case.”
This rapidly unfolding meme is yet another demonstration of how the media has become overwhelmed by “microwave” culture. Diplomacy is especially geared more toward crock-pot-type simmering…
Perhaps, it’s been so long since they’ve seen active and sincere diplomatic engagement that they’ve forgotten how the process works — how it’s a constant give and take, and is almost never instantaneous or simply zero-sum.
“I do think the “gate crashers” incident was a serious breech of security”
I don’t understand it from a security standpoint, either. I thought Obama had the tightest security any president ever had. I thought that’s what we’d been told.
But I don’t understand even more this anthrax thing -that came out of nowhere. Why did anthrax, of all things, come up?
Yeah the anthrax thing was a little nutty but I think they are trying to make the point that just because the gate crashers went through magnetometers they could have been carrying bio-weapons. Huh isn’t that true with anyone?
I heard an author on TV blame the secret service’s problems on the lack of funding and bad leadership ever since it was moved under homeland security.
Travis, I think the NYT could use a crock-pot.
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/28/opinion/28sat1.html
Tena, I was serious about suggesting you make a list of ‘things Obama has done right’.
I’ve read a couple of short lists, but wasn’t impressed with them enough with them to even bookmark them.
I did hear a good list that lefty radio host Thom Hartmann rattled off, but wasn’t in a place to take notes.
There are a lot of little changes that I’m proud that Obama has accomplished.
But they are significantly eclipsed by things that still need to be accomplished (such as what Benen listed above).
An informed and avid supporter and writer like yourself should be able to pull together a strong and growing list.
It would help out us doubters that keep seeing the glass as half full.
“homeland security.”
Yeah – part of that “largest increase in the federal government ever, under the Repugs who are now screaming about the Democrats increasing the size of government.
NR – thank you for your kind words.
Here’s a pretty good post regarding Obama’s first year that mentions at least some of his accomplishments. An awful lot hangs on HCR and the success of the Stimulus but regarding Foreign Policy we’ve seen a huge shift away from the last 8 years.
“When it comes to foreign policy, Obama’s accomplishment has been less tangible but hardly less significant: He has put America on a new footing with the rest of the world. In a series of foreign trips and speeches, which critics deride as trips and speeches, he replaced George W. Bush’s unilateral, moralistic militarism with an approach that is multilateral, pragmatic, and conciliatory. Obama has already significantly reoriented policy toward Iran, China, Russia, Iraq, Israel, and the Islamic world. Next week, after a much-disparaged period of review, he will announce a new strategy in Afghanistan. No, the results do not yet merit his Nobel Peace Prize. But not since Reagan has a new president so swiftly and determinedly remodeled America’s global role.”

Here’s a short bit on FDR’s first 100 days and to me it sounds remarkably like Obama’s except that Congress totally cooperated with FDR and everything he wanted sailed through.
THE FIRST 100 DAYS
“Roosevelt entered office at a time when fear and panic had paralyzed the nation. In a famous passage, historian Arthur Schlesinger described the mood at FDR’s inauguration: “It was now a matter of seeing whether a representative democracy could conquer economic collapse. It was a matter of staving off violence — even, some though — revolution.”
FDR’s natural air of confidence and optimism did much to reassure the nation. His inauguration on March 4 occurred literally in the middle of a terrifying bank panic — hence the backdrop for his famous words: “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” The very next day, to prevent a run on banks, he declared a “bank holiday,” closing all banks indefinitely until bankers and government could regain control of the situation. The term “holiday” was meant to give a festive air to what was actually a desperate situation, but such was FDR’s desire to provide hope to the nation.
Congress was almost entirely compliant and gave the President everything he wanted. The Emergency Banking Bill, which strengthened, reorganized and reopened the most solvent banks, was passed overwhelmingly by Congress with little debate. On March 12, Roosevelt announced that the soundest banks would reopen. On March 13, deposits at those banks exceeded withdrawals — a tremendous relief to a worried nation. “Capitalism was saved in eight days,” said Raymond Moley, a member of the President’s Brain Trust.
The bank holiday was a vivid example of the effectiveness of government intervention in an economic crisis. Hoover had allowed two previous bank panics to run their course, which contributed to over 10,000 bank failures and $2 billion in lost deposits. The bank holiday secured Roosevelt’s political reputation, and convinced both Congress and the public that the New Deal was the right road to follow.
Roosevelt’s strategy consisted of two parts: first, provide relief for those who needed it most, which often involved a redistribution of wealth from the rich to the poor. Second, provide long-lasting reform to the nation’s economy, through reorganization and the creation of new agencies. Most of Roosevelt’s policies can be described as “taking from one pocket to put in the other.” Fixated with a balanced budget, and fretful when it was not, Roosevelt made sure that anything given to one sector of the economy was taken from somewhere else. He did not accept Keynes’ recommendation to begin heavy deficit spending, and did not do so until the threat of World War II forced him to.
Roosevelt’s legendary “First 100 Days” concentrated on the first part of his strategy: immediate relief. From March 9 to June 16, 1933, FDR sent Congress a record number of bills, all of which passed easily. These included the creation of the Federal Emergency Relief Administration, the Civilian Conservation Corps, the Reconstruction Finance Corporation, and the Tennessee Valley Authority. Congress also gave the Federal Trade Commission broad new regulatory powers, and provided mortgage relief to millions of farmers and homeowners.”f
http://www.huppi.com/kangaroo/First100days.htm
And thanks, Imsinca.
I’ll tell y’all for a fact that the government funded major highway projects under Obama’s Relief Act in New Mexico. The highway between Taos and Santa Fe was torn up from Pojoaque to Buffalo Thunder, almost to Tesuque, all summer and fall.
Those were jobs funded by the government. Those guys working on the highway went into Pojoaque and Espanola every day and ate lunch. Most of them stayed there in rented rooms the whole time they were working.
The Stimulus couldn’t have been a total waste of time, and that’s putting it mildly.
There were signs at either end of the road work: This is a project of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009
Both FDR and Obama moved quickly to stop the immediate bleeding before everything bled out. They used different methods but they had the same objective.
FDR stopped the avalanche; so did Obama. FDR then moved quickly to implement relief. So did Obama = he wasted absolutely no time before he started pushing HCR.
FDR wsn’t dealing with two wars and an illegal detention facility. FDR built illegal detention facilities – he didn’t try to close them. Obama signed the order to close Gitmo his 2d day in office. How is it his fault that Congress will not cooperate with him?
This Congress if full of cowards. FDR apparently had a Congress with guts.
FDR didn’t have 9-11 and KSM and years of illegal torture to try to deal with and maneuver through. The Bush Administration left a legal mine field for Obama; it dumped some of the biggest crimes we ever committed right on Obama, knowing that eventually the public would forget them and blame it on Obama.
He’s trying desperately to address people’s fears about terrorism, and his administration has arrested more people in 8 months than the Bush Administration actually arrested for terrorism in 8 years. The people they disappeared don’t count. The people Obama picked up were all HERE – a clear and present danger.
But if he tips too far over into the “nevermind security, give us 100% transparency and full legal rights for noncitizens” everyone in the country but the left will freak fraking out and if something happens they’ll lynch him.
Obama tap-danced on the edge of a razor blade to get to the White House and he’s still doing it.
And the most obvious thing FDR didn’t have to deal with and Obama does: FDR was white. White people trusted him. So his enemies spread the rumor that he was secretly a Jew – the 30s version of a n***a – cause back then, brothers did not even count for villains.
They don’t have to make up s*h*i*t about Obama. It’s right there in plain sight for every white person in the country to get that deep down feeling they can’t shake that he just isn’t up to it.
If there is some example of Pete King saying anything where the intent is other than derogation of Obama or Dems I don’t know of it. Expecting him to advance a rational argument would be foolish. That’s not the game he is playing.
I’m a big fan of Steve Benen, but…
Finish health care. Pass a jobs bill. Finish the climate bill. Re-regulate the financial industry. Finish the education bill. Pick up immigration reform. Repeal “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.’”.
We probably ought not to make the error in thinking that because a sentence is easy to write that therefore the the world will fall into place with a similar ease.
I couldn’t agree more with your last comment, Bernie. Maybe it’s time to trot out the old saw about Rome not being built in a day. The laws of nature, to say nothing of the laws of the Senate, would have to be in abeyance to have gotten all these things accomplished in ten months. We elect politicians and hopefully statemen. We don’t elect magicians.
ChuckinDenton–I left a comment on your questions on the Friday thread.
SC Monitor has an interesting take on the party crashers…
“On the heels of ‘Balloon Boy,’ the White House party crashers reveal that all the world is an episode of ‘Punk’d’.” http://features.csmonitor.com/politics/2009/11/28/white-house-party-crashers-fit-a-new-mold-fame-at-all-costs/

I read this morning in fivethirtyeight dot com about President Obama’s executive order regarding “Reducing Improper Payments and Eliminating Waste in Federal Programs”
I am hopeful once again that waste, fraud and abuse will be taken seriously and feet held to the fire. Me thinks the times, they are a changing. Stay tuned!
You have to read this if you think the MSM is in the tank for Obama. Fineman was in Europe and pretended no one noticed Obama’s accomplishments while in Asia. Apparently he can’t read or surf the WEB.
And if Fineman was in Paris combing over the newspapers for news about Obama, why didn’t he note that Richard Holbrooke, special envoy to Pakistan and Afghanistan, drew considerable attention the day before APEC began because of a meeting in Paris? French outlets which cover diplomatic events took notice even if Fineman didn’t; very few American outlets covered this meeting, but Fineman was too busy trying to avoid news about Obama in Asia to notice that his own employer missed (avoided?) a news story.
“Hasn’t Fineman noticed stories in overseas financial news outlets about money running to other global investments like those in BRIC countries for more than two years? Hasn’t Fineman read our own American news outlets and seen the same news for over a year?
Didn’t Fineman notice that the rest of the world expressed great relief when this oldest of democracies transferred power from the Bush administration to the Obama administration? Perhaps he was struggling with reading all those foreign papers which were covered with photos of Barack Obama…
Has Fineman been asleep over the last ten years as American manufacturing and services fled to China, India and Brazil? No need to even read a paper in London or Paris, no proficiency in a foreign language required — just go through the archives of newspapers in Detroit to read up on automakers’ plants moving overseas.”

Katha Pollitt contrasts Angela Merkel and Paris Palin:
“Consider Angela Merkel. The press (the foreign press, mostly) went wild when she wore a low-cut gown to the opening of the Oslo opera house last year. If you Google her, “Angela Merkel cleavage” is the first suggested search term that comes up – but Merkel herself doesn’t engage with media-style hyped-up feminine self-presentation. She dresses in a nondescript way, doesn’t wear a lot of makeup – in fact, she looks like she doesn’t wear any makeup – and her hair is so ordinary, I can’t even remember how she wears it. Her husband is not part of her day-to-day story. She is a middle-aged woman with a PhD in physics, a pleasant lined face and a low-key, straightforward manner. Even people who would never vote for her seem to respect her as a human being. As far as I know, there are no Angela Merkel nutcrackers or plastic dolls in ****** costumes for sale on the internet.” http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/cifamerica/2009/nov/28/sarah-palin

Where’ve you been? I don’t know about anyone else, but I missed you. It’s pretty tough around here when News Ref and Liam are the contrarians. Anyway, I’m mostly in and out until my sister leaves Tuesday morning.
I’m sure you’re as anxious as I am to hear Obama’s plan for Afghanistan. Wonder if he’ll come up with a compromise we can both agree on?
So, despite the fact that they already have a bumper crop of that particular organ, some in the GOP think that they need another Big Dick running for president in 2012.
What values are those? Mendacity, arrogance, absolute contempt for the Constitution and the very concept of the rule of law, indifference for human rights, and disdain for anyone who does not exercise lockstep, abject fealty for his (Cheney’s) pronouncements.
Yep, at a mere 20% of the nation, those values have sure made the GOP strong. Strongly despised.
“Mattel Debuts Angela Merkel Doll”
I want the action duo pair: Plastic Republican Bush with his creepy “massage grip” who, when he inappropriately gropes German Chancellor Merkel, she throws up her hands in revulsion.
http://majikthise.typepad.com/majikthise_/2006/07/bush_gropes_cha.html
Lindsay Beyerstein points out that after Merkel was clearly offended by Republican Bush’s inappropriate office-place touching, Republican Bush “just moves on, eyes averted, like it’s her problem. (”Oh my God, there’s a hysterical woman displaying inappropriate behavior! I’ll just pretend I don’t notice her egregious gaffe.”)
Yes, our president, the drive-by harasser.”
Beyerstein links to Taylor Marsh who calls out Republican Bush’s sexual harassment only to discover that, as always, ‘It’s OK I You’re A Republican’ (IOKIYAR), and right wingers will even defend sexual harassment.
@sbj – That was cute. But I should point out that the censored word in my post above was s*l*u*t*t*y (I didn’t bother to clarify as that particular word, along with the typical derogatory terms for ****, were the only words I wouldn’t allow to be used in my house) and if we compare and contrast… http://msnbcmedia3.msn.com/j/msnbc/Components/Photo/_new/080911-palin-doll-vmed-1111a.widec.jpg

We’ve talked about the clues that the RNC will be attempting to pull female voters away from Dems (and from a black President) by using female candidates (”we women/mothers are marginalized citizens too!”). Here’s some more of it…

On story-telling.
Here’s one story: after eight years of Bush and decades of conservative movement extremism, corruption, economic nuttiness and fear-mongering along with the changing of demographics, the future of American politics is/will witness a swing back to liberal/progressive values and policies.
Here’s another: after a short run of liberal extremism under a radical leftist President, voters are rejecting this un-Americanism and a vibrant conservative resurgence is about to sweep the nation in 2010.
Digby, looking at the Kos polling, intuitively gets the danger here re which story/narrative gains greater consensus:
“it’s very bad news if the election is dominated by talk of rising conservatism” http://digbysblog.blogspot.com/ (Covering Your Bases).
And that’s why it is critically important for Republicans to be seen to do well next November and it is why they are continually pushing story number 2. “Reality”, in these matters, is mainly consensus.
And if my point isn’t obvious… the degree to which progressives/Dems continue to demoralize themselves through imagining that ANY Dem president – in this situation – could actually turn water to wine at the flick of a finger and so bemoan the inadequacy of that President, to that degree they do precisely what the tellers of story number 2 need them to do.
One final thought before I skedaddle…
Regarding the Mary Matalin/Liz Cheney/Sarah Palin/Michelle Bachmann/Meg Whitman story of the marginalization and maltreatment by the media and society of people like themselves which, properly perceived, ranks them as equally disadvantaged and derogated as any old African American male… a quick survey of the prison system or police profiling surely backs them up. Our prisons are filled to the brim with caucasian women/mothers – precisely who police pull over at night-time to check for drugs and stolen goods.
Have a splendiferous day, folks.

It does look remarkably like him, when I compare it to his Kodak Moments Photograph in The Holy Family Picture Album.
Of course the steam iron has smoothed out all those wrinkles that he acquired as he aged a couple of thousand years, or so. Aside from that, it looks just like the family snapshot, which was taken by their good friend John The Baptist, who was a renowned shutter bug.

Twitter Quitter Palin.
The Gift That Keeps On Quitting, I mean Giving.
She is truly beyond parody. Read this folks. It is hilarious, and TRUE!
http://www.tri-cityherald.com/kennewick_pasco_richland/story/808281.html
“Palin had announced on Twitter that she would be running the 5k race organized by the Benton-Franklin Chapter of the Red Cross.
She didn’t finish the race, opting to leave the course early to avoid more crowds at the end. About 40 minutes into the run, word started trickling out to people gathered at the finish line that she was gone.
Executive Director Jeanne Jelke wasn’t sure if Palin’s presence drew more runners and walkers or just onlookers, but was thankful for the national publicity.
Jelke quoted Palin as saying, “I hope the Red Cross makes a lot of money.”"
I sense a pattern here folks. No need to worry about if Palin becomes President. If she does, she will quit in order to avoid becoming a lame duck, and to avoid the crowds.
Bernie,
In reference to your Jesus in the iron link above, why is it that only Jesus or Mary make such appearances? We never have Buddha, Krishna, or Mohammed show up in tortillas, water stains, or small appliance rust spots?
Are Christians just crazier?
aye, aye, Gasman, bernie’s point is a lil bit racial.
