DNC To Coleman: Listen To Your Constituents, Not Your Lobbyist Buddies
So who is Norm Coleman listening to — his constituents in Minnesota, or his well-heeled lobbyist backers in Washington?
That’s the question the Democratic National Committee is asking in response to our story below reporting that a group of influential D.C. business lobbyists is vowing to raise whatever it takes to fund his legal appeal against Al Franken.
DNC spokesperson Hari Sevugan pointed to a new poll finding that Minnesotans want Coleman to toss in the towel by a margin of nearly two to one, 63%-37%, rather than appeal the recent court ruling declaring Franken the winner. Sevugan added:
While Minnesotans overwhelmingly feel that Coleman should do the right thing and concede after the definitive ruling of the independent panel, a group of DC lobbyists is ready to fund his efforts to continue to delay Minnesota full representation. The question is — who will Norm Coleman listen to? His answer to that question will be telling.
Dems will try to drive this point hard today — they see it as a political gift that the new poll happened to come out on the day that Coleman’s lobbyist backers vowed to keep funding his appeal.

Sounds kinda familiar….lol.

I swear Sevugan should start using “Pay to Play” every time he brings up this issue. After the Blago scandal people hear pay to play and just get turned off. I would link Coleman-lobbyists-pay to play over and over again. I bet his arse would quit then!
It’s like you and sevugan mind-melded, SG.

In all reality thats I consider it a compliment that we are thinking alike. That dude is all kindsa awesome. I might be a little more ruthless than him but we are going in the same direction.
I /teabag you!

and mike from Arlington goes nuts for teabagging! No surprised there, since Dick Armey is from Arlington, too.
heh heh heh
In terms of how this election plays out, I think the spotlight needs to be kept on Pawlenty. By appointing Chief Justice Eric Magnuson and Associate Justice G. Barry Anderson to serve on the State Canvassing Board, he assured that the MN Supreme Court (without temporary additions to the panel, which he hasn’t made) would be short-handed in rulings that came before it relating to the Senate election. That’s how the court handed down that weird 3-2 ruling that basically said that the campaigns could decide what votes to exclude. Take the chief justice off a court and it is more difficult to achieve consensus in any kind of case. Basically, Pawlenty has already messed with this election, and he may not be finished.
Norm Coleman and these lobbyists are forgetting what this race is all about, to SERVE THE PEOPLE. If he gave a damn about the people, he would concede and not leave them hanging with a suspended government for an undefined, unending period of time. Besides, I have seen this guy at the Rainforest cafe, back in the day, drunk, making lewd comments to the waitresses, sitting on his stool looking very unlike the charmer we see. There is a dark side to this man.
