Sarah Palin’s Copenhagen-Bashing Op-Ed One Of Most Read WaPo Opinion Pieces Of The Year
Here’s a dispiriting postscript to the massive flap over The Washington Post’s decision to publish an Op ed by Sarah Palin on climate change, a piece that has been widely criticized as riddled with falsehoods.
I’m told by the paper’s insiders that her piece was one of the most-read WaPo opinion pieces of the year, coming in 21st in page views out of literally hundreds of opinion articles. An earlier Palin Op ed in the paper on the same topic was the third most read of the year.
A lot of this is probably driven by heavy outside linkage. But still, the fact that Sarah Palin, of all people, is able to command such attention for her views on the science of climate change, of all things, is kind of amazing.
To be clear, I’m not defending the decision to run the piece. I wouldn’t have run it. I’m just pointing out the undeniable fact that the woman’s name gets people clicking. Until people stop clicking, Palin and her views will continue to get attention.
This blog’s homepage is here. RSS feed here. Twitter feed here. Email me here.
Not much to say here other than to acknowledge that the people marketing this Edsel are very very adept, totally unscrupulous and that they have gained a significant hold on modern media including this paper.
I’m told by the paper’s insiders that her piece was one of the best-read WaPo opinion pieces of the year, coming in 21st in page views out of literally hundreds of opinion articles.
And I am instantly reminded of Faye Dunaway’s character in Network, watching the raving, ranting mental meltdown of longtime news anchor Howard Beale and only thinking about how broadcasting it live is making the ratings soar.
I am withholding my final opinion on the global warming debate, until after the Washington Post prints the Op-Ed opinions, on the topic, from Jon & Kate, and hopefully one from Paris Hilton.
I suppose that answers my question of why she is given a voice, it’s nice that WaPo has decided to be such a transparent sell-out. If I had a subscription, I would cancel it because while the anecdote about voices might be news the article itself isn’t.
@Liam:
LOL!
Sob………..
Paris Hilton made more informed ads during the 2008 campaign than Palin did, remember that Funny Or Die ad?
“best-read”?
really? best-read? that sounds like there were competitive dramtic readings and someone won.
most-read, maybe? i’m just not feeling best-read.
Now if only the WaPo can get Tiger Woods to write an OpEd on fidelity. It would be even better-read, and reinforce many of our opinions of the paper.
“Mr Obama; Boycott This World.” Quitter Palin
fair point, tony, thanks. changed.
I think getting an op-ed from Tiger is a great idea. And another from Perez Hilton?
“.. of all things, is kind of frightening.”
Fixed.
I admit, I still just don’t understand her popularity one iota.
Well, good for her. Good for the WaPo.
I don’t begrudge her popularity, I just want what’s best for the country based on the metrics we have all known and loved since, oh, the ancient Greek civilization: economics, mathematics, scientific measurement and method, discovery and invention.
She is free to disagree with those metrics and so is the WaPo.
Greg, I’m still boycotting and am proud to say I didn’t click, although there were excerpts everywhere, so it was hard to miss.
I’m also glad to know you would not have printed it.
I don’t give a damn if people publish her views but for the sake of this country and of this plant, put a ******* disclaimer on there stating what she says is not based on fact, but on fiction.
Seriously, papers who just print her garbage are doing a disservice to humanity. Think about it for a second. These people are shamelessly writing to discredit a theory of an outcome that could potentially change the way we live on this planet. It’s not fun or neat or anything like that.
So, pretty please, with sugar on top, if you’re gonna print this ignoramus’ writing, make sure people are aware everything she says has no scientific backing, at all, and is not based on reality.
Do it, for the sake of humanity.
plant=planet
Maybe, just maybe that means people on the left should stop linking to anything and everything about Sarah Palin. Seriously, nothing she writes is really worth taking seriously anyway, and most of her attention comes from people pointing it out as if its not understood at this point.
There was a time when an opinion piece was welcomed because it was informed, caused one to re-think one’s own views and engendered a thoughtful debate. Those pieces did not have an artificial construct: 800 words. Nowadays such pieces should carry a warning” The WaPo publishes this piece on the clear understanding that the writer may lie, distort, make propaganda and show ignorance of the topic being discussed “.
I honestly don’t think reporters really give a damn what happens to this country as long as they get a story at times.
President gets trashed globally. Who cares? Great story. Obama love affair over!!! Yipee!
Republicans take over. Yeah! Dems now irrelevant because they can’t get anything done. Yahoo!
Sarah Palin becomes President. Hoorah! World hates our President now, but who cares cause she drives liberals crazy! This is great for our bottom $$$.
The press is only interested in the story sgwhiteinfla. They could give a damn about the political ramifications of their actions. Maybe I’m wrong though. Maybe they do have a conscience. It sure doesn’t seem like it at times though.
This kinda destroys her whole game:
http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/71819-poll-finds-support-for-cap-and-trade
52 percent of Americans said they would support the proposed system to limit emissions, while 41 percent are opposed, according to an Ipsos Public Affairs poll released this morning.
[...]
The poll lends a bit of a boost to the controversial environmental legislation in the U.S. before a global climate change summit kicks into full effect in Copenhagen, Denmark.
[...]
50 percent of Americans said they would support the program if it raised their electricity bill by $10 per month, while 48 percent would oppose it. Support drops to 43 percent if it were to make Americans’ bills $25 more expensive, while 55 percent said they would oppose it.
Support for the program, however, is boosted by the prospect for green job creation — even if it meant more expensive electricity bills.
69 percent of Americans said they would support cap-and-trade if it meant more green jobs but a $10 more expensive bill, with 29 percent opposed. 60 percent would be willing to endure paying $25 more if it meant more green jobs, with 36 percent opposed.
Lots of hit on Palin’s oped is the same as lots of people slowing down to look at a big multicar accident with firetrucks and ambulances. Noteworthy, but not particularly edifying.
Exactly Richard,
I was just thinking the same thing about all those rubberneckers.
Washington Post Endorses Highway Accidents, because they increase viewership ratings.
Hey, if readership is the sole motivation for deciding to whom the WaPo makes its editorial page available, why not run an eleven week series by Tiger Wood’s mistresses on their personal takes on climatology? The series could run even longer number if more potential “writers” emerge from the Wood’s *** scandal. I’m sure that WaPo could break even Palin’s records. WaPo could even take a cue from sleaze merchant Murdoch and include racy photos of the “writers” to go along with the series.
As Palin is likely to be a political player for some time to come, she should be covered as someone making news. However, that does not mean that she should be given a forum to spout her painfully ignorant opinions. When it comes to the scientific record, her opinion, or anybody else’s are absolutely irrelevant. She may choose to exercise her opinion that gravity does not exist, but her fall will happen nonetheless.
She also probably wrote about the same percentage of this article as she did of her autobiography.
@Greg
Of course it was…every blog on the right AND left was promoting it, and linking it. Controversy sells, that’s no suprise. “If it bleeds, it leads.” as the saying goes.
Just another peice of evidence that the “press” in this country is a business, first, and an informer of the public, second.
Oh come on, Greg! Would it kill Plum Line readers to encounter the word S*E*X?
Sorry Gasman,
Palin has convinced Greg that abstinence is the only way to go. You Betcha!
Gasman, if I could do away with the filter, I would do it right now.
There are plenty of good well versed “climate change” skeptic scientists out there who could render valid, point by point criticism of the errors made by by the “CC” promoters. But who gets the stage at WaPo. A politician without scientific credentials. So we have Gore and Palin as spokespersons for pro/anti political positions for which they are not truly qualified to speak. Since a real scientist won’t generate sales they pick the Gores and Palins to address these issues. Stupid and sad.
Greg,
I could understand bleeping ********** or fucktard, but S*E*X?
See, fucktard is OK but S*E*X isn’t!
Guess I clicked…
I think of her as pure entertainment at this point, nut maybe I should try and remind myself that there are folks who take her seriously.
Just when I think I’ve managed to put SP behind me she does something so outrageously hypocritical I have to point it out. A $200,000 speaking engagement at a fundraising for a Canadian public hospital.
“Palin might be surprised to learn that the hospital she is fundraising for runs counter to her professed beliefs:
– St. Peter’s Hospital is a public hospital within the national Canadian healthcare system. In Palin’s worldview, universal, government-insured health care is “socialism.”
– St. Peter’s Hospital performs abortions. Palin, a staunch anti-choice zealot, has protested outside of abortion clinics and has refused to denounce abortion clinic bombers as terrorists.
– St. Peter’s Hospital, through its Centre for Studies in Aging, offers “advanced directives.” Palin tried to derail health reform earlier this year by falsely labeling advanced directive reimbursements as “death panels.”
http://thinkprogress.org/2009/12/11/palin-canada-hospital/
that would be: “‘but’ maybe I…”
All check out these amazing numbers:

“fucktard is OK but S*E*X isn’t!”
Hahaha!
Greg, will they not let you change the filter? Because technically there’s nothing stopping you.
Omg Insinca. Thx.
But ow, the stupid. It hurts!
This morning’s Post almost made me lose by breakfast, with not one but two dishonest and mean-spritied warming denial pieces by Krauthammer and Gerson. What in the world has happened to a once great newspaper? I want to support print media, but Hiatt is making it increasingly difficult. One of these days, the last straw will come and I’ll cancel. Today came close.
Good, it’s about time the fraudulent Climate Change clowns get some competition. In the 1970’s it was Global Cooling that was all the rage, yes, we were headed for another Ice Age. The only difference then than now, no one figured out who to become multimillionaires off that bit of alarmism. It took Al Gore and company, to turn variations in climate into a lucrative living.
Hopefully, Palin’s courage to speak up will give everyone else something to think about.
It’s more evidence that the once great Washington Post is turning itself into the FOX News of the Newspaper world. It has become very clear over the last few years that the paper would rather push a neocon ideology rather than just tell us the news.
Very sad.
She is about as well qualified to opine on the topic as law/divinity school dropout Al Gore, whose famous PowerPoint slideshow is riddled with laughable errors and gross exaggerations, and who has admitted that scaring the public is more important than getting the science right.
lowercase greg,
Wow! You are a genius! You aren’t fooled by the 97% of climatologists who support manmade global warming. Good on ya’ for simply choosing not to submit to the mountains of irrefutable scientific evidence which buttresses the climatologists’ claims. You go right ahead tilting at that particular windmill.
You speak of Palin’s courage. Was this the same courage that she mustered in order to finish her term as Governor of Alaska? You conveniently overlook Palin’s stupidity. Palin is an imbecilic moron that attracts other morons the way sh*t attracts flies. You are just such a fly.
The only difference then than now, no one figured out who to become multimillionaires off that bit of alarmism.
The sheer wilfullness of this bit of stupidity is just breathtaking.
Sarah Palin has once again demonstrated that she is more intelligent and tougher than her detractors. In a time of great economic upheaval she is quickly becoming the defender of American prosperity in the eyes of everyday Americans. What is happening in the Obama administration is animating and angering the great silent majority. Sarah Palin stands in front of this great awakening, ready to ride it all the way to the presidency in 2012. Climategate is but one of the liberal policies that are leading Americans to embrace the good governor from the great state of Alaska. Madame 45! – we the little people of America salute you and your mission.
Wahhhh Wahhh poor babies. libearls can’t stand other people’s views wahhh wahhh sombody call a wahhhbulance.
Sarah Palin is right on in her assessment of the fraud that is man-made global warming. In a time when we are $12 Trilion in debt ($65 Trillion with entitlements)we desperately need to end our dependence on foreign oil. Palin understands that we have 1.3 trillion barrels of KNOWN reserves, which represent the only possible way for our country to avoid economic ruin caused by out of control borrowing and debt. Palinomics and the defeat of mindless liberal dogma is the only hope we have of restoring America’s bright future.
The fact is Palin is more qualifed then Al Gore on this issue. Not only does she live in Alaska she was an oil and gas regulator for a year, and Gov. of the state from 06 to 09.
It would appear some blog that glories in mouth breathing has linked to this post.
Palin was also the head of the NGA energy team as Gov.
Al Gore said that the temperature deep iside the earth is “millions of degrees”… If that were an actual fact, this planet would be a star.

You loony left crazies just crack me up.
Pray tel me this: How much “scientific credentials” does crazy “You Can Call Me Al” Algore have?
Did Algore flunk out of divinity school TWICE?
You bet!
The self same Algore who only this week, shrieked on TV that the earth’s core has temperartues of millions of degrees Celcius(FALSE!. If the earth’s core had temperatures of millions of degress Celcius, we’d all have fried to death long ago).
The same Algore who stands to profit to the tune of billions of dolars if he manages to con the world into adopting his crazy, economy destroying policies in Copenhagen
Yet, this Algore lunatic is busy driving the world over the edge of a cliff with his insane “gloBULL warming nonsense.
Meanwhile, the sleek Europeans in their polution spewing 12,000 limos, and private jets who are gathered at Copenhagen, are busy contrbuting far more to pollution than anyone else even as we speak.
And you turn round and attack Sarah Palin?
Say, how many states have YOU ever gorvened?
OK, trolls. If it won’t hurt your brains too much, try reading something from those liberal wimps at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology:
http://web.mit.edu/newsoffice/2009/roulette-0519.html
But, then, why bother? You’re obviously SO much smarter than those clods at MIT.
@ AKReport
QUOTE :”Palin was also the head of the NGA energy team as Gov”
Yup.
Sarah Palin knows a heck of a loe more about the enviroment, energy policy and the oil business than crazy Algore will ever know if he lived to be a 100 years old.
That stark, raving lunatic Gore has no business dictacting policies in a public tiolet, let alone telling the rest of the world what to do about the energy and the enviroment.
They should take global warming on shove it up Gore’s big fat dumbass!
Obama and his fellow fuckhead liberals dont know dick about anything.
“a piece that has been widely criticized as riddled with falsehoods.”
I have yet to see anyone accurately identify any falsehoods in her piece. I have seen lots of warmists erect strawman after strawman (see Alan Leshner) while discussing her piece… but actual falsehoods? Not so much.
So why are all the Glaciers and Ice Caps Melting at an ever increasing rate?
“You aren’t fooled by the 97% of climatologists who support manmade global warming.”
Apparently, you were fooled by the suggestion that 97% of climatologists support manmade global warming. That is an accurate number, if your sample is only UN sponsored research units (you know, the people who have a substantial financial incentive to come to a predetermined conclusion).
A survey was performed early in 2009 of climatologists, globally, that showed support at nearly 40%. Approx. 25% stated that GW is NOT manmade and 35% stated that there is not enough evidence to make a determination. IMHO, that 35% is the most honest and pragmatic of all of them.
I feel your pain.

the marxist hoax has been exposed. CO2 is Not pollution, morons.
“So why are all the Glaciers and Ice Caps Melting at an ever increasing rate?”
Good question. That question, however, could have been asked at many points in history… points in history where we weren’t industrialized. What formed the Great Lakes? There was a massive glacier in Alaska that completely melted due to rising temperatures…. in the mid 1800’s. What about the “land” bridge connection North America to Asia?
All good questions… open to interpretation.
“So why are all the Glaciers and Ice Caps Melting at an ever increasing rate?”
Because sun activity through 1998 was higher than usual. Since 1998 aun activity has decreased as has the global temperatures. CRU however knew they could not report that or their funding would be cut. So, we saw an attempt by CRU and others to “hide the decline” in their own words.
By the way, Gore also said the Climategate emails were all from 10 years ago. This is demonstratively and verifiably false.
Why should we believe people like Gore and CRU who openly lie?
@ Greg Sargent
:”A lot of this is probably driven by heavy outside linkage.”
How the heck do you think most of the posters on this thread got here?
Most web traffic is driven by outside linkage.
“to be clear, I’m not defending the decision to run the piece.”
What is there to defend or not defend?
When are you hard line left wing radicals going to stop trying to CRUSH free speech, and silence anyone who doesn’t drink your gloBULL warming Kool-Aide garbage?
It’s exactly such sleazy tactics that led to Climategate ” in the first plac, no?
“I wouldn’t have run it”
Now why am I not surprised?
The left are for free spech alright…Oh wait. The left’s “free speech rights” spiel does not apply to anyone who disagrees with their loony left agenda.
You guys are simply pathetic.
Poor babies, waaaaa, Sarah Palin is spoiling our fun!!!
Do any of you think if Greg Sargent had done a blog about any other topic other than Palin, this site would have gotten as many hits as it has. No way. Palin commands attention, gets attention, and drives up ratings for everyone. Just ask 0prah, going from less than 6 million viewers to over 14 million for her show with Palin.
Maybe this blog should refrain from ever posting anything about Palin, then it would probably whither away.
I pay no attention to what Gore and Palin say. Al is making a good living off of it, and so is Sarah.
I pay attention to the scientists, and the actual changing conditions around the planet.
Here is the way I look at it.
If we go to clean renewable energy, and it turns out that the global warming claims were wrong, we still end up with cleaner air, and are not dependant on foreign oil. No more going to war, just to secure oil.
If we heed the skeptics, and do nothing, and they turn out to be wrong, then our plant will have become a complete disaster, and it would be too late to reverse the damage.
Better safe than sorry. We need to clean up air quality around the globe, and end having to compete for, and wage war for ever decreasing foreign oil. I am tired of being under the thumb of Saudi Arabia, and Iran, just because we have to have their oil, at all costs.
Better safe than sorry, and an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, and a stitch in time saves nine, and….
Skeptics want to play Russian Roulette with the future of the planet, and they want to keep us under the thumb of foreign oil potentates.
F. all those Skeptics, and the myopic horses they rode in on.
edit;
our planet…..
Liam,
That is a strawman argument. First of all, you need to define “skeptics” a little more specifically… there are GW skeptics, and AGW skeptics. 2nd of all, skeptics aren’t against renewable energy… far from it. Palin, as governor, set a more aggressive goal for renewable energy development than any other Governor. It exceeds, even, Obama’s nationwide goal. She is very big into geothermal. She also is a proponent of nuclear as well as nat. gas (much cleaner than coal).
Both sides agree that expanding our energy production ability is needed, and alternative energies are mandatory. No one (just about) denies that traditional energy is “dirty” and bad for our environment. Both sides can come to the same conclusion for different reasons…. AGW people want to save the planet, from their POV. Skeptics want energy independence and cheaper forms of energy to spur our economy. It is a STRAWMAN argument to state : “If we heed the skeptics, and do nothing, and they turn out to be wrong, then our plant will have become a complete disaster, and it would be too late to reverse the damage.” Skeptics don’t argue to do nothing. Skeptics are against destroying our economy and our way of life through cap/trade or aggressive carbon taxation. But they are definitely for alternative, clean, cheap, American-produced energy.
In the future, you should avoid erecting strawmen and knocking them down. It will add more weight to your argument.
of course it was a widely read column. people are naturally curious and drawn to train wrecks
@ Dan
QUOTE :”of course it was a widely read column. people are naturally curious and drawn to train wrecks”
Naaah.
More like people are drawn to common sense, and the truth.
The real train wreck is lil ole Comrade 0bozo sitting in the White House, way over his head, and not having a clue how to really govern the country.

QUOTE :”Al is making a good living off of it, and so is Sarah.”
You are confused ain’t ya?
Ummmm.. when did Sarah Palin ever make a living from glBULL warming?
Algore the lunatic sure.
All Algore’s done since he lost in 2000 is milk glBULL warming for every dollar he can get.
“open to interpretation”
hahahahaha. Science isn’t about interpretation, it’s about measurement and study. Science is, by nature (no pun intended) empirical not subjective. On top of that, climate science has accumulated answers to those questions. The end result of decades of empirical research is that the planet is warming due to industrial activities, with as close to absolute certainty and consensus as can possibly exist in scientific study. If you understand that the Earth’s atmosphere and average global temperature has changed over Earth’s 4.5 Billion year history, as you seem to, then you understand these categorically undeniable facts. You just don’t want to believe it because it doesn’t suit your ends, however fraudulent they may be.
Smithy,
You are clearly dumb enough to be a Palin lover. She makes money by opposing what Al calls for. That is making money off the issue. She caters to the myopic and moronic skeptics who will in turn pay her big appearance fees, and promote her books.
I pay no attention to any of the contradictory bullshite that Palin tosses around, so when you start bragging on her credentials and statements about energy policy, I just tune you out.
This is the woman who sought federal money for highways, while ranting against the very same practice.
@ Ethan
QUOTE : ” Science isn’t about interpretation, it’s about measurement and study”
Measurement and study is fine..so far as the data is not forged, fraudululent, and made up, even as some data is delberately destroyed(the British CRU people now claim they have “lost” their data. Yeah right!), while some opposing data supressed, and opposing views CRUSHED.
Climategate shows clearly that the gloBULL worming lunatics, have been feding us garbage for years, in order to advance a loony left, tree hugger political agenda.
The so-called “science” is flawed!
“This is the woman who sought federal money for highways, while ranting against the very same practice.”
This is a false statement. AK has received lump-sum funding for Highway and Infrastructure projects every year for decades. She did not seek it out. If you are referring to earmarks, you should know she reduced earmark requests by 85% as compared to her predecessor. You are entitled to your own opinion, but not your own facts.
@ Liam,
That is coming from a guy that is so stupid, he has been buying fake science from Algore for years!
The same Algore whoo FLUNKED OUT OF DIVINITY SCHOOL TWICE!
Sa, tell me this, exactly what science degree does Algore have?
Did this guy even pass science in high school?
Meanwhile, Algore continued to use up to a massive 100 times as much electtrcity as the average American for his house, even while while loudly trashing Americans for using too much energy.
Talk about a dumbass Liam, who has been drinking Kool-Aide from the biggest con-man of our generation, Algore!
Go figure!
Smithy, of course that’s what you believe. B/c that’s what you are told! How nice of you to trust your masters so deeply. Really… touching…
Have you read this?
http://www.pewclimate.org/docUploads/east-anglia-cru-hacked-emails-12-09-09.pdf
I suggest giving it a read since you are so concerned about doing the right thing.
Smithy- The enviro-fascists will stop at nothing to destroy prosperity in developed nations. Destroying inconvenient data is hardly below them. Unfortunately for them, they have been trying this for nearly a century, and continually fail because freedom loving people refuse to capitulate. Global warming hysteria persisted in the 1930’s. In the 1970’s, these same types of people proclaimed an ice age was imminent. And who can forget the hole in the ozone ****… everyone being told to stop using hairspray or we would all die. They will stop at nothing, but good will always triumph over evil.
“The enviro-fascists will stop at nothing to destroy prosperity in developed nations”
Does this include — or not include — breaking into a secure server, stealing files and emails, and publishing them on the internet?
Does this include — or not include — destroying property in developed nations by extracting oil and gas, typically with chemical solvents that go into the groundwater, and typically in fragile environments?
This eco-fascist wants to know.
Btw, you do realize that fascist implies government being owned by big industry and that the environmentalists are diametrically opposed to that?
You bring up interesting points, though. Maybe not in the way you intended… but interesting nonetheless.
“who can forget the hole in the ozone”
Good point. I forgot about that.
It was solved by a free market cap and trade initiative. But thanks for reminding everyone.

You gotta be kiddding me.
Say, why don’t you tell us exactly what you left wing crazies did when Sarah Palin’s email was HACKED last year, by left wing vermin, over a secure server, her files and emails stolen, and then published on the internet?
Oh wait..if I remmember correctly, the left wing bottom feeders in America were up in raptarous joy, and called the criminal who hacked Sarah Palin’s mail a hero.
So now I am sure you will excuse me if I dismiss your current “concern” over hacked Climategate” emails, out of hand.
I asked you a question based on your comment. Are you going to answer it or not?
Btw, have you read this yet?
http://www.pewclimate.org/docUploads/east-anglia-cru-hacked-emails-12-09-09.pdf
I know you will. Because you are obviously SO concerned with doing the right thing.
Smithy,
You just affirmed that you are just an ignorant Moron. You accuse me of touting what Al Gore claims, right after I started a long comment on my position, by saying that I pay no attention to what Al says about the subject.
You and Quitter Palin deserve each othef. That half baked Alaskan could not finish more than half of one term in a state with about half a million population, and Morons like you, think that makes her great presidential material. Right; for a few minutes, until she quits again, because of the pressure of the job.
Okay, since you probably HAVE read it already, here is one passage about data suppression and another about the supposed crushing of opposing views:
DATA:
There is an email exchange in which the participants contemplate boycotting a particular science journal and refusing to cite two specific papers they regarded as fatally flawed. It is crucial to understand that the authors of the emails were not contemplating the suppression of a dissenting point of view. Rather, they were reacting to what they considered to be scientific misconduct by the authors of the papers and/or by editors who circumvented the peer review process so as to publish inferior papers that support their own political agendas. One case discussed in the emails, and later documented in news reports and open letters from individuals involved in the events, was so egregious that half the journal’s editorial board resigned in protest when the publisher refused to allow the chief editor to revise the peer review process to make individual board members more accountable. The publisher later admitted the paper should not have been published and promised to strengthen the peer review process (http://www.int‐res.com/articles/misc/ CREditorial.pdf). The other paper that the email authors contemplated not citing was published without peer review in an obscure journal, of which the chief editor has admitted to using the journal to push her own political agenda.
VIEWS:
In an email dated Nov. 12, 1999, Prof. Phil Jones stated that he had used a “trick” to “hide the decline.” The email does not say what decline he was talking about, so it has been widely misreported that he was hiding a decline in temperatures. Those reports are not correct, nor is it accurate to say that he was actually hiding data, even though he chose the word. The word “trick” was used as it is in common parlance to mean a clever solution to a problem (e.g., “I know a trick to get that stain off your shirt.”). The decline he said he was hiding referred to one series of high‐latitude tree ring data from 1960 to 1994 that did not follow measured temperatures at the same locations, even though they had followed measured temperatures for about a century before 1960. That set of tree ring data incorrectly implied a downward temperature trend after 1960. It cannot be said that Jones was literally hiding this fact because two years before he wrote this email he was a co‐author on the first paper to document this “divergence” issue. That paper, published in Nature in February of 1998, concluded publicly that these post‐1960 tree ring data produce inaccurate temperature estimates. Hence, “hiding” this decline simply meant following the advice that Jones and colleagues had since already aired in the peer‐reviewed literature two years earlier. Many more papers havebeen published on the same topic.

But again, that was for OTHER people since you’ve already read that pdf.
Btw, there were more links in the text that I took out. But you knew that b/c you’ve already read the pdf and visited the links.
Who let in all the brainless trolls today? I guess they are more of the flies that are attracted to Palin.
I suspect that many of them are merely multiple noms de guerre of but a very few teabagger cowards.
A word of advice, teabaggers: snottiness and amplitude are not substitutes for reason and/or wit. The former you possess in abundance, in the latter you are woefully deficient.

“You just affirmed that you are just an ignorant Moron”
That, coming from the King of Morons like you, is a compliment.
“You accuse me of touting what Al Gore claims, right after I started a long comment on my position, by saying that I pay no attention to what Al says about the subject.”
Algore has been the # 1 and most high profile and effective pusher of the gloBULL warming nonsense on the planet FOR YEARS!
His movie “An Incovenient Truth” which was packed full of lies, was seen by more people than any other movie on climate change. He currenly has more influence with 0bozo in climate change than anyone else.
So whether you adfmit it or not, Algore is one of your chief allies.
wow, what a bunch of leftist crybaby’s. your so called scientist got caught cooking the books like bernie madoff and then you get ***** slapped by palin, ha ha ha ha.
@ Liam
“You and Quitter Palin deserve each othef.”
Governor Palin, has more brains in her little finger, than your Furher Algore, has in his entire fat body.
Why, only yesterday, the “great” Algore claimed that the core of the earth has a temperature of..wait for it,… ONE MILLION DEGREES!
Chortle!
If the core of the earth had that temperature, we’d all have melted away long ago!
And this is the guy that is leading the gloBULL warming campiagn? ROFL!
Don’t make me laugh!
@ Liam
Quote:” That half baked Alaskan could not finish more than half of one term in a state with about half a million population”
That partcular Alaskan, just happens to have acheived more in just 2 1/2 years, than your Messiah, 0bozo did in his entire 4 years in the US Senate, during which he acieved NOTHNG!
Gov Plain had the highest approval rating of ANY governor in the entire country.
Meanwhile, let me know when you actually get elected mayor of and get to govern even a small village, let alone the biggest state in the entire USA.
Two third of the population of Alaska is male, and most of those troglodytes could not laid in a Bordello, with thousand dollar bills sticking out of their ears.
Of course they approved of Winky Palin, the beauty pageant runner up, in Alaska. I believe that she lost out to a Grizzle Bear, with bad breath.
edit;
get laid in…
Of course everything she does gets attention – Palin is the most powerful woman in America, at a time when we have a polarizing president that is deeply unpopular, with ratings among the worst seen of any at this time of his presidency.
@ Liam
QUOTE : “Two third of the population of Alaska is male”
I see you can’t count, in addition to being stupid.
Alaska.
Female: 48.3% 50.9% Male: 51.7%
http://alaska.usn.myareaguide.com/demographics.html
Earth to “Liam”, 51.7% is NOT equal to two thirds.
Get it?
If Obama could take time off golf and stop campaining for a a day or two, perhaps he could whip a op-ed for wapo written by his ghosts with all of Al Gores lies repeated verbatim. he doesn’t haven’y any qualms about lying, a major distinction between Obama and Palin.
Smithy,
Those figures are distorted. Around twenty five percent of those who were counted as women, were actually cross dressing lonely men.
I agree that Palin does not even realize that she is lying. She is too stupid to even know the difference.
@ Jason
QUOTE:”If Obama could take time off golf and stop campaining for a a day or two, perhaps he could whip a op-ed for wapo written by his ghosts with all of Al Gores lies repeated verbatim”
Or 0bozo could always hire the guy who wrote his book “Dreams of Our Fathers” for him, unrepentant terrorist Bill Ayers, to write his op-ed for him again.
@ Liam
:”Those figures are distorted. Around twenty five percent of those who were counted as women, were actually cross dressing lonely men”
Yeah..just like 0bozo wrote his book too. NOT!
Bill Ayers says “Hello!”
Palin is compleling and interesting, no wonder she attracts attention.
Obama is a media fabrication, a creation of Soros/Axelrod, under the thumb of Michelle/Pelosi.
Nobody is interested in someone like that.
Yeah, Obama needs Bill Ayers. Bill made Obama … on his own Obama needs a crutch like a teleprompter.
Obama just doesn’t appeal to the American population now that the media gloss has worn off. Just another egghead, same as Gore.
Not to worry folks. Quitter Palin to the rescue. She has a plan to reverse Global Warming.
She is going to ask her Witch Doctor to send all that heat right back down to Satan. Yup. Yup. You Betcha!!!
Smithy, thanks for ignoring what I’ve posted.
B/c you KNEW this:
“The publisher later admitted the paper should not have been published and promised to strengthen the peer review process. The other paper that the email authors contemplated not citing was published without peer review in an obscure journal, of which the chief editor has admitted to using the journal to push her own political agenda.”
@ Ethan
QUOTE:”“The publisher later admitted the paper should not have been published and promised to strengthen the peer review process. ”
That is relevant how?
Smithy,
AK is big in landmass, but the smallest state in population. It has the population of a largish sized city with a comparable political climate. The mayors of Charlotte, Ft. Worth, Columbus, Austin and Indianapolis all have greater populations. Does that mean, ipso facto, that they are even more qualified for national office than Palin?
Palin succeeded, at least in getting elected, in the very small pond that is Alaska’s podunk political landscape. However, she failed miserably on the national stage last year (remember the 2008 election?) and continues to do so (can anyone say “NY’s 23rd district?).
What are these grand accomplishments of Palin’s that you crow about? At one time, Palin’s approval ratings were quite high. What are they now, or when she left office? Not nearly as high. It is telling that you and your brainless tribe of imbecilic Palin sycophants seem to feel that being mayor of Wasilla trumps any amount of time in the United States Senate. Precisely what is the threshold of national public service in the Senate, House, or cabinet that trumps local or state level service in AK? Palin couldn’t even run tiny Wasilla without a city manager and she couldn’t do so without squandering their balanced budget and leaving them with a $20 million deficit. This was in a town of about 5,000-6,000 people. There is your village. It is now missing its idiot.
I sincerely hope that Palin runs for president. If she does, I will personally contribute to her campaign. Not much, mind you, but I would send a small donation. Liberals do not fear Palin; we think that she is possibly the best thing that has happened to the Democratic Party in years. The Palin name is political Kryptonite at the national level. Everything that she has touched so far has failed.
Sarah Palin is rather transparent and easy to understand. She is a narcissistic moron. What I do not understand is why anyone would be attracted to someone who is so clearly a mental pygmy.
I guess you really are one of the files that Palin attracts.

The Real Problem Revealed by the ‘Climategate’ E-mails, Long, but a Must Read
http://forthegrandchildren.blogspot.com/
Like Sarah Palin said,
Vice President Gore, the Climategate scandal exists. You might even say that it’s sort of like gravity: you simply can’t deny it.
“That is relevant how?”
The supposed “squashed viewpoints” that were suspected of being fraudulent…. admitted to being fraudulent.
“One case discussed in the [hacked stolen] emails, and later documented in news reports and open letters from individuals involved in the events, was so egregious that half the journal’s editorial board resigned in protest when the publisher refused to allow the chief editor to revise the peer review process to make individual board members more accountable.”
Why do I have to keep typing this sh*t when you’ve read it 3 times already? Sheesh?
In an email dated Nov. 12, 1999, Prof. Phil Jones stated that he had used a “trick” to “hide the decline.” The email does not say what decline he was talking about, so it has been widely misreported that he was hiding a decline in temperatures. Those reports are not correct [...] The decline he said he was hiding referred to one series of high‐latitude tree ring data from 1960 to 1994 that did not follow measured temperatures at the same locations [...] two years before he wrote this email he was a co‐author on the first paper to document this “divergence” issue. Many more papers have been published on the same topic.
——-
I really have to apologize for insulting your intelligence by posting these things that you know and have read several times by now.
QUOTE :”AK is big in landmass, but the smallest state in population”
Tell me..what is the population of Delawre, Joe Biden’s state?
And how much oil does Delaware produce?
And what is the size of Dalaware as compared to even ANWR, which is only a small part of Alaska?
And while you are about it, have 0bama or Biden even ever governed a village before in thir entire lives let alone a whole state like Alaska, before they were elected last yeah?
Now why don’t you answer those?
Smithy,
You are just a giant grab bag full of stupid, aren’t you? The most lame-brained teabagger conspiracy theories all resonate as being reasonable in that tiny little skull of yours. You’ve even gone back to the thoroughly discredited “Bill Ayers: Obama’s ghost writer” meme. Even Glenn Beck has long since abandoned that nonsense. But not you. You have a death grip on that bit of unhinged lunacy and can never be convinced that it is not Gospel.
Like Landgrebe’s reference to the evidence that Nixon was a crook, your febrile brain seems to be unable to register even deafening levels of cognitive dissonance regarding Palin’s underwhelming intellect and character. Do you eat a lot of raw pork? Do I detect a severe bout of trichinosis? Or could it possibly be a raging case of untreated syphilis?
Maybe you are just a moron.
@ Ethan:
QUOTE :”Phil Jones stated that he had used a “trick” to “hide the decline.” The email does not say what decline he was talking about, so it has been widely misreported that he was hiding a decline in temperatures. Those reports are not correct ”
Yeah?
Is that why Jones was forced to resign from the CRU?
Smithy,
You are a simpleton. I never discounted the notion of state or local public service. However, I am not the one claiming that being mayor of a sh*thole town in AK trumps service in the United States Senate. The size of a state or village served is irrelevant. What matters are results. WTF has Palin ever achieved of substance in her reign as Mayor of Wasilla or Governor of Alaska?
Now, as a new standard, suitability for national elected office shall be determined by how much oil is produced in a state? By that metric, Saddam Hussein was more qualified to be president than Palin.
You really are a moron.
@ Gasman.
I see they don’t call you Gasman for nothing.
You are full of hot gas and total BS.
Read this..and weep!

@ Gasman:
QUOTE :”However, I am not the one claiming that being mayor of a sh*thole town in AK trumps service in the United States Senate”
Now why don’t you tell me exactly how many “small towns” or states that 0bozo or “Okro Mouth” Biden have ever run, before 2008?
And shy don’t you show me a list of exactly what 0bozo achieved in the US Senate in the entire 4 years he was there?
We are talking about a guy, who spent more time campiagning for president, while he was supposedly in the US Senate, than he spent actually earning his pay as a US Senator.
0bozo needs to pay back to tax payers, the money he earned as US Senator.
He did nmothing for his pay.
He stepped down temporarily while the security breach is under review.
Does this sound FORCED to you?
The university said in a statement that Phil Jones, whose e-mails were among the thousands of pieces of correspondence leaked to the Internet late last month, would relinquish his position as director of Climatic Research Unit until the completion of an independent review.
The university’s Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research Trevor Davies said the investigation would cover data security, whether the university responded properly to Freedom of Information requests, “and any other relevant issues.”
Davies defended Jones and his colleagues, saying the publication of their e-mails “is the latest example of a sustained and, in some instances, a vexatious campaign” to undermine climate science. The sentiment was echoed by Nicholas Stern, a leading climate change economist, who said the person or people who posted the leaked e-mails had muddled the debate at a critical moment.
“It has created confusion and confusion never helps scientific discussions,” Stern told reporters in London Tuesday. “The degree of skepticism among real scientists is very small.”
http://news.aol.com/article/university-of-east-anglias-phil-jones/793315
But again. You are a thorough researcher only interested in presenting an accurate summation of the facts. Not politically-motivated hyperbole. So, you know…
@ Gasman:
QUOTE “Now, as a new standard, suitability for national elected office shall be determined by how much oil is produced in a state? ”
Nope.
But then what resources a state has, and how well those resourcesc are managed, is part of how substantive the job of the governor of that state is.
Managing the vast natural resources of Alaska, including the huge oil rescouces, in the vast frozen tundras, is one of the hardest jobs any governov could do.
0bozo would literally freeze if he’d had to do such a job. No surprise his presidency is such a messed up joke.
Smithy,
You trot out your typically idiotic teabagger straw man to buttress your argument. You declare that Palin is more qualified than either President Obama or Vice President Biden, then you demand that I provide a list of their accomplishments to disprove your theory. That isn’t how it works with us adults.
I am not the one making the claim that Palin’s AK state and local service trumps any amount of time in the United States Senate. You are. It is incumbent upon you to back up that outrageous position with an itemized list of Palin’s accomplishments.
I don’t need to validate or justify the bona fides of President Obama or Vice President Biden. The American electorate did that last fall.
@ Ethan:
Quote “He stepped down temporarily while the security breach is under review.Does this sound FORCED to you”
Of course.
without Climategate he’d not have stepped down.
Tax payers in Brintain(who actually PAY for the the University of East Anglia) are up in arms over the scandal.
He HAD to step down
I clicked on it to write how stupid it was. I did NOT read it. There must be many people, even her asinine illeterate supporters who did the same.
To say “most read” is not true; “most clicks” is.
I never read Palin, Richard Cohen, and many other WaPo idiots, but I do end up clicking on them to leave a negative comment. I know I am not alone……
@ Gasman:
“You declare that Palin is more qualified than either President Obama or Vice President Biden”
She is.
She was Governor of the biggest state in the country, with the biggest national parks and vast resources, and was Commander of the Alaska National Guard.
What has 0bozo ever governed befgore this year?
“then you demand that I provide a list of their accomplishments to disprove your theory”
You bet.
If you left wing crazies are going tp keep spewing out the nonsense that Governor Palin is not qualified to be president, we are going to have tp keep insisting that you show us exactly what 0bozo accomplished as US Senator in the entire 4 yaers he was in the US Senate.
wow, I see this blog gets “gasman” and the other right wing dumbo shut-ins….
Right Wing/GOP=stupid
That you are willing to acknowledge a reality you don’t like is a commendable start.
@ Gasman
QUOTE:” don’t need to validate or justify the bona fides of President Obama or Vice President Biden. The American electorate did that last fall.”
Now why don’t we just see how that “hopey changey” thing goes for you in next year’s congressional elections and the 2012 elections eh?
Voters already showed what they think of the loony left “hopey changey” by handing the Democrats CRUSHING defeats in New Jersey and Virginia last month.
“Tax payers in Brintain(who actually PAY for the the University of East Anglia) are up in arms over the scandal..”
I’m glad you agree that it wasn’t the university who forced him to step down, but the confused public.
God knows, people should be confused.
Summarizing decades of research in three lines of an email taken out of context of the conversation… SO CONFUSING!
Even for brilliant minds like yours.
@ Ethan
QUOTE “I’m glad you agree that it wasn’t the university who forced him to step down, but the confused public.”
That “confused public” just happen to be the ones that are paying for the very nice life that Phil Jones has been enjoying. Something for which he paid British tax payers back by pedlling junk science, fraud and swindling the public.
I am pretty sure we haven’t heard the last of this.
The Conservative Party is almost certain to win next year’s British elections.
Charlatans and fraudsters like Phil Jones are going to pay for their crimes against humanity.

So let me see if I get this right.
These clwons are insisting that the ordinary hard working American, ride in small cars, not use private jets, and use less energy, even while they themselves carry their well fed, fat bodies around in the biggest limos on the planet and in private jets?
And we are supposed to take them serious?
Like George Orwell said: “All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.”
Smithy,
OK, let’s look at how Palin managed her resources in her mighty positions as mayor and governor.
Wasilla was fiscally solvent when Palin took office and $20 million in debt when she left. This in a village of about 5,000. How’s that for managing resources?
As governor, Palin fought the Bush administration over the listing of polar bears as an endangered species. Palin advocated the aerial hunting of wolves and bears, even to the point of filing an appeal with the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals to block the Cheesh-na Tribal Council from expanding their subsistence hunting in key areas.
Citing the listing as a threat to oil and gas development, Palin opposed the listing of the Cook Inlet beluga whales as an endangered species even though their numbers dropped from 1,300 in the 1980s to about 350 today – the point of extinction. Could this have anything to do with the fact that Palin allowed Chevron to triple the amount of toxic waste it pours into the waters of Cook Inlet?
When Palin became governor, she had a budget surplus. Rather than invest this surplus in technology to make AK energy independent and increase efficiency, she proposed distribution of this surplus to every individual in the state. She bought her poll numbers with cash payouts.
Yep, she certainly knew how to manage natural resources.
As for your imbecilic claim that being Mayor of Wasilla is ipso facto a stepping stone to the presidency, there are high schools in the U.S. that have higher enrollments than Wasilla’s population when Palin was mayor. Are all of the principals of those schools equally qualified to run the nation? I’ll bet any of those schools have more employees than Wasilla did during Palin’s reign.
How are two state races for governor a referendum on Obama and two national races for the House of Representatives not? Yes, the GOP won two governor’s seats, but they lost the two races where the winners actually vote on national issues and shape national policy. You employ a very selective culling of election data to make your untenable case. Palin received a massive smackdown in the NY 23rd district race, in that her candidate was defeated and her carpet bagging lost the GOP a seat that had been Republican since 1872! How does this not reflect poorly upon her?
You lack any credibility, yet you continue to bleat your admiration for an idiot. You are a moron.
“I am pretty sure we haven’t heard the last of this.”
Probably not. Climate change is a b*tch.
Btw, Smithy, did you support George W. Bush in his second term?
It’s hard to tell.
I only ask because you seem so open-minded to substantive, fact-based discussion. I remember such free and fair discussion as:
The economy’s fine. Saddam9/11. Mushroom clouds. I didn’t abandon people in New Orleans. Heckuva job. Free trade means jobs. Medicare Part D will be good for seniors and cost under $500B.
And the like…
Have a great weekend Smithy. It’s so great to have people like you in this country. Who knows where we’d be today without free market patriots like yourself.
When she was mayor, Palin charged women $1,200.00 each for rape examination kits, to obtain results that the town’s police needed to investigate the assaults.
Alaska produced much larger amounts of oil, on an annual basis, long before Palin became Gov. All she did was hand out Oil revenue checks, and talk out of her arse about being against government handouts.
The People voted to elect President Obama. In fact he won enought primaries to even get into the general election.
Palin won nothing outside of Alaska. She was picked to be on the ticket.
Obama earned his way into the ticket, by winning many state primaries. Palin did not.
edit;
enough….
ha sarah again she must really scare liberals
but that does make sense the truth scare liberals.
BOOOO
while we are looking take a look at the housing Obama provided for the poor in Chicago as a State Senator with his buddy convicted felon Renzko and pals.
CHICAGO – The squat brick buildings of Grove Parc Plaza, in a dense neighborhood that Barack Obama represented for eight years as a state senator, hold 504 apartments subsidized by the federal government for people who can’t afford to live anywhere else.
But it’s not safe to live here.
About 99 of the units are vacant, many rendered uninhabitable by unfixed problems, such as collapsed roofs and fire damage. Mice scamper through the halls. Battered mailboxes hang open. Sewage backs up into kitchen sinks. In 2006, federal inspectors graded the condition of the complex an 11 on a 100-point scale – a score so bad the buildings now face demolition.
Grove Parc has become a symbol for some in Chicago of the broader failures of giving public subsidies to private companies to build and manage affordable housing – an approach strongly backed by Obama as the best replacement for public housing.
As a state senator, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee coauthored an Illinois law creating a new pool of tax credits for developers. As a US senator, he pressed for increased federal subsidies. And as a presidential candidate, he has campaigned on a promise to create an Affordable Housing Trust Fund that could give developers an estimated $500 million a year.
But a Globe review found that thousands of apartments across Chicago that had been built with local, state, and federal subsidies – including several hundred in Obama’s former district – deteriorated so completely that they were no longer habitable.
Grove Parc and several other prominent failures were developed and managed by Obama’s close friends and political supporters. Those people profited from the subsidies even as many of Obama’s constituents suffered. Tenants lost their homes; surrounding neighborhoods were blighted.
Some of the residents of Grove Parc say they are angry that Obama did not notice their plight. The development straddles the boundary of Obama’s state Senate district. Many of the tenants have been his constituents for more than a decade.
“No one should have to live like this, and no one did anything about it,” said Cynthia Ashley, who has lived at Grove Parc since 1994.
Obama’s campaign, in a written response to Globe questions, affirmed the candidate’s support of public-private partnerships as an alternative to public housing, saying that Obama has “consistently fought to make livable, affordable housing in mixed-income neighborhoods available to all.”
The campaign did not respond to questions about whether Obama was aware of the problems with buildings in his district during his time as a state senator, nor did it comment on the roles played by people connected to the senator.
Among those tied to Obama politically, personally, or professionally are:
Valerie Jarrett, a senior adviser to Obama’s presidential campaign and a member of his finance committee. Jarrett is the chief executive of Habitat Co., which managed Grove Parc Plaza from 2001 until this winter and co-managed an even larger subsidized complex in Chicago that was seized by the federal government in 2006, after city inspectors found widespread problems.

Indeed it is!
To all you crybaby Palin bashers: Palin was a former Governor. Yes, she actually has 16 years of political experience before being run out on a rail by leftist haters who tried to financially and politically bury her.
She actually ran a state, the biggest and most isolated state in the country, again before the haters filed bogus ethics charges against her to force her hand.
Global warming is a scam. It is designed to make international bureaucrats and hypocritical leftist elites filthy rich, while you freeze to death and are jobless.
There is no reason to condemn GOP/Conservatives: their squalid shut-in lives are a terrible punishment.
That seems unfair that such pretend “living” is so barren. It is true, however: the people who have passion and culture and genius, we progressives and liberals make all art, fashion, do all teaching, etc.
Conservatives/GOP tea bag each other and get excited that maybe Sarah Palin will smile at them. What empty lives you right wing drones “live’. I pity you and ask God to convert you for one day to liberalism. The brio for adventure, the ideas, the beauty would make even sad sack conservative ciphers happy.
Hows that messiah from Illinois really working out?
Has he actually improved the situations he claims to have inherited or has he, in fact, aggravated their severity. Oh, I forgot the job loss rates have been down a couple of months. That begs the REAL question. Has total employment increased, or is the decline in new unemployment claims down because there are not that many people left with jobs to lose?
Who is really intellectually challenged here Sarah or Barack? The POTUS, and his TOTUS, seem to be voting ‘present’ quite frequently.
classic bad accident scenario. I clicked just to post a comment, without reading the article, since I’m no ********* and could trust my assumptions as to what she said. But the click-counter can’t tell the difference, of course.
seriously? Mas…..ist is a bad word?
It’s so fun to see liberals going mad over Sarah. She is driving the left crazy because they FEAR her.
“The One” (aka B Hussein Obama) is proving to be an EMPTY suit–he’s failing all around the world, his domestic policies are causing the deficit to explode. Osama Obama can’t end the war on terror, he can’t win the war on terror, he can’t fix healthcare and the economy is still sinking deeper into despair.
And Sarah can get you liberals all wee-weeed up with a Facebook post!
Sarah is the next Reagan–oh that’s right, you libs don’t think that Reagan was anything special either.
Osama Obama, almost as good as Jimmy Carter.

I clicked on it to write how stupid it was. I did NOT read it.
=========================
LOL, how I do love lefties. This comment is definitely a keeper!
Anyone with an IQ of 70 and above knows that Sarah Palin DID NOT write the latest op-ed attributed to her, just as she DID NOT write the previous one. NOR DID she write her book.
What kind of person lays claim to someone else’s work? That is just like stealing someone else’s identity.
BTW, Sarah Palin makes me tremble in my boots at her great intelligence, great works and her great insights.
NOT.
sammy,
do you understand how stupid you sound? Palin was a Gov of a state. Do you think she doesn’t know how to write? That says more about your lack of logic than anything. As a Gov of a state Palin had to read and write constantly. be it budgets, proposed programs etc. That is not even mentioning all the op-eds and letters to the editor she wrote before she was picked as VP for publications like WSJ among others.
If this is the best type of thinking liberals have you have to wonder how they get out of bed by themselves
Sad to hear that, if you ran the Washington Post, you would use that power to suppress the expression of this quite legitimate criticism of the environmental science so-called “consensus” by one of the leaders of the loyal opposition. For shame!
anil,
It is free speech for them and only them. For all those that disagree with them it is the gulag
Of course Sarah Palin has the most widely read op-eds and is is not dispiriting. It is heartening. (See recent poll on MSNBC about who thinks Saran Palin is right. She is winning 57% to 42% and that is MSNBC) She is the only one making sense on climate change. The fraudulent, junk science of global warming is embraced only by the left. Sarah Palin speaks for the conservatives and independents and she speaks well and truthfully. Climategate cannot be denied. It does”exist” and it must be explained before government tries to change the whole economy of the world. She is widely read because she is right.
Poor little liberal wackjobs .. always lying and distorting the truth. Palin unmasks them for what they are:
shallow pathetic losers …
Isn’t it cute how right wingers can freely use mass-communication tools, without interference or restrictions, to claim that their “speech” is being suppressed without any self-awareness whatsoever?
And even while right wingers are angry at the nonexistent interference with their dominating voices (right wingers dominate 90% of talk radio, own most of television, even own the majority of corporate media…) those same right wingers are livid at the small corners of media space where left wing voices are heard.
Right wingers are even quite explicit that their intention is to drown out left wing voices wherever they can.
It’s a bizarre and sad case of mass projection.
Listen closely enough to what right wingers fear and you’ll discover that what right wingers fear the most is: Themselves.
Stupid libs.. sun spots are responsible for “climate change”. FYI The climate has BEEN changing for billions of years.
Ever stop to think why GREEland when today it is covered in ice?
Why don’t you learn about wine production in Berlin Germany during the renaissance?
There sure ain’t no wine being produced in present-day Berlin! Ergo, it is cooler NOW than it was in the 1700s, at least in Germany and GREENland.
But you libs would rather bleat on about “evil corporations” and “big oil” and send billions in tax money to Third World countries where all they do is overpopulate since none of them work.
Thanks to all the money we’re sending them they’re going to breed even more and then come knocking on our door, ie. crossing the Rio Grande.
GREAT thinking, libs!

Y’all hate Palin because she is COMMON SENSE IN YER FACE. The more you hiss and holler, the more popular she becomes.
Personally I hope she joins with John Bolton for a run in 2012.
You can’t STAND her for calling your emperor what he is: NAKED. You all are naked, refusing to accept facts that fly in the face of your dearly held religion you call LIEberalism.
Which makes you kindred spirits with that other present-day fascism, namely islam.
.
The polls may not show it but when Sarah Palin speaks, people listen. The American people trust her. Sarah said “Death Panels” and healthcare is still being debated. Algore is a fake and a liar and will gain too make a billion dollars off this junk science.
“The response to my op-ed by global warming alarmists has been interesting. Former Vice President Al Gore has called me a “denier” and informs us that climate change is “a principle in physics. It’s like gravity. It exists.”
Perhaps he’s right. Climate change is like gravity – a naturally occurring phenomenon that existed long before, and will exist long after, any governmental attempts to affect it.
However, he’s wrong in calling me a “denier.” As I noted in my op-ed above and in my original Facebook post on Climategate, I have never denied the existence of climate change. I just don’t think we can primarily blame man’s activities for the earth’s cyclical weather changes.
Former Vice President Gore also claimed today that the scientific community has worked on this issue for 20 years, and therefore it is settled science. Well, the Climategate scandal involves the leading experts in this field, and if Climategate is proof of the larger method used over the past 20 years, then Vice President Gore seriously needs to consider that their findings are flawed, falsified, or inconclusive.
Vice President Gore, the Climategate scandal exists. You might even say that it’s sort of like gravity: you simply can’t deny it. – Sarah Palin”
Her jacket is being auction off for charity. A jacket she probably paid $19.99 for at Walmart. The bid is already at $35,000.00 dollars.
Everything Sarah touches turns to gold. Sarah is truly blessed. I thank God everyday for letting me be a part of this time in history. The Sarah Palin era. Our Founding Fathers are smiling because Sarah Palin is everything they envision in a leader for our country.
Do you all realize how anti-free speech you are? People who disagree with you shouldn’t be allowed to write an article in the Washington Post. You all should be ashamed of yourselves.
It’s quite clear that most, if not all of the above imbecilic troll posts are by the same author. Aside from being buffoons, teabaggers are intellectually lazy and cowardly.
You are a simpleton.
I’m not sure why this is surprising. Palin makes a lot of sense, it’s the HATRED of her which is worthy of note. I take great joy in your self-admitted pain, and I hope that it will become a chronic condition for you and people who think like you.
I sincerely hope this is a few people. Do you really think liberals fear Palin because she talks “common sense”?! Common sense??! Half of what she says is incoherent, the other half is bland platitudes.
And what exactly is your logic behind any conspiracy of “ecofascists” to “create global warming”? How is that even profitable? Global warming was a problem long before Al Gore (excuse me “Algore”…not sure how that’s an insult, but to each his or her own) took up its cause, and Gore was pretty darn rich and successful before An Inconvenient Truth came out. Oh yes, I forgot a documentary about climate change…that’s the surest road to further riches for an ex-vice president. No, we don’t get into a tizzy because Sarah Palin is just soooo good. We just get a bit sickened to see ignorance masquerading as wisdom. And when you’re fine to doom the rest of us simply because you’ve chosen political sides…well, you can pretend there’s not a hungry cougar in your room, that doesn’t mean he’s not gonna eat you.
Is it more amazing that people click and read what she writes in the Washinton Post or that there are already 164 comments here, many agreeing that it is terrible that people are paying attention to Sarah Palin?
Sarah Palin sells, and you implicitly acknowledge that by the act of posting about her.
Sarah Palin gets people clicking for the same reasons people pay rapt attention to car accidents, fighting couples in restaurants, or porn. An attracive (if empty-headed) politician subjected to our craven corporate media’s full celebrity treatment, complete with requisite Jerry Springer touch (Bristol/Levi etc.) is a compelling disaster. Folks just can’t help but watch.
But bubble-headed celebrity is no basis for political leadership. America already tried that with George W. Bush, and look where that got us.
Hey Bernie Latham;
99% of the folks marketing this “Edsel”are leftists like yourself who are utterly obsessed with Palin, hang on her every word and dutifully report her every utterance.
I guess you folks would have cheered if Michelle Obama or Barbra Streisand or perhaps Susan Sarandon had an opinion piece published by the WaPo on the same subject. These women are well known for their public service, the accomplishments of their careers in elected office, and their ability to connect with middle America.
You can’t admit that anyone who does not hold leftist views could possibly know anything, and you are unwilling to admit that King Porculas Algore is a proven fraud, a liar and an opportunist.
Sarah Palin made several valid comments in her Op-Ed. 1) She warns that these agenda driven polices would change our economy for the worst. 2) She mentions that leading global warming scientists destroyed records, manipulated data and usurped the peer-review process. 3) She says China and India will be the world’s leading carbon dioxide emitters and will be allowed to increase their emissions. 4) Countries like Australia have recently defeated cap and trade legislation and other countries are following suit. 5) She claims to be one of the first governors to set up a sub-cabinet committee to study the effects of global warming. 6)The last thing America needs is misguided legislation that will raise taxes and cost jobs.
Sarah Palin’s comments offered in this Op-Ed is a common sense approach to the problem of global warming, and in the opinion of this writer represents the best interest of the United States.
Global warming hysteria is highly profitable. Just ask Al Gore, who has made more than any other person exploiting this non-threat. Carvon trading is also a lucrative business. And why has NBC Universal been at the forefront of climate change “awareness”. Because, until recently, they were owned by GE, a company who has a virtual monopoly on wind powered turbines in the United States. The energy industry is salivating over the ready-made excuse to jack up their prices.
Green, indeed.
thurst – all you need to know about the economics of climate change are right here:

This is a rabid warmist. You think his positions have anything to do with his financial interests?
Warmism isn’t a conspiracy, just a common pecuniary interest. It’s just a lot of guys who’d be anonymous middle-class academics who are now rock stars as long as the UN gravy train keeps funding them, and they need to keep up the scare stories to keep the bucks rolling.
I’m sure a lot of ‘em believe it; I’m also fairly sure a lot fewer would buy into the whole thing if their livelihood weren’t dependent on it.
Remember, the whole authorship plus reviewership of the human-causation content of IPCC AR4 was under 60.
It appears that you have placed a lot of effort into your article and I require more of these on the net these days. I sincerely got a kick out of your post. I don’t really have much to say in response, I only wanted to comment to reply wonderful work.
Gore: “a principle in physics. It’s like gravity. It exists.”
Sarah: “Perhaps he’s right. Climate change is like gravity – a naturally occurring phenomenon that existed long before, and will exist long after, any governmental attempts to affect it.
Vice President Gore, the Climategate scandal exists. You might even say that it’s sort of like gravity: you simply can’t deny it.”
Love this woman!
I read the OpEd, and the facts she mentions are true. Moreover, her point of view is clearly formulated and does make sense. OpEd is written well, does not contain senseless namecalling, and goes along the scheme “Here are the facts, here is my opinion, here is a proof I am familiar with the subject, here is what I suggest to do”. I short, good OpEd built on substance and not on form, something you can debate with. Why not?
I do not know if she wrote it herself (I suspect yes), but is it really important? She should be able to produce good logical texts, whenever by writing it herself or finding smart people doing it (and the later possibility simply means she is a capable organizer).
Ice core data clearly shows atmospheric carbon levels TRAILING temperature trends by 800 +/- 200 years, thus completely invalidating everything the AGW hucksters have to say.
And you wonder why Palin is popular?
You get that way when you speak the truth.
Thanks very much for sharing this interesting post. I am just starting up my own blog and this has given me inspiration to what I can achieve.
Nice website. Great read.-By the way, if you get a moment, check out my Cross Dressing Website – http://bit.ly/bjCexW
