I am out here in the hinterlands. Can some one explain to me what happened to Patricia Smith's confirmation to DOL Solicitor? Why has this been stalled so long? I am certain there are a lot of great career people in the Solicitor's office, but we need more of our people there.

heather - I sure hope you're right, cause I'd love to think that Obama is quietly doing things like that to exert his power.

The story about the GOP tying Sotomayor to Ayers - what can you say about this? There's no logic at all, which is right down the rightwing's alley. They're all about false equivalencies, crazed leaps of illogic, and conspiracies these days.

that's what they get for following Rush down the yellowbrick road.

I may be alone here, but I believe that Sestack is playing a game of political chicken (aided considerably by the dem est.). In my opinion Sestack was given the green light to explore a Senate run, and is given gobs of money(that can be used on other races btw) all in the name of ensuring that Specter votes 'correctly' on major Obama legislation (like health care reform, cap and trade and possibly unions). This way Obama and friends get to support Specter publicly, vowing support in 2010, but keep Sestack in their back pocket in case the former GOPer fails to be a good dem. just my 2 cents.
