Who Runs Gov

Happy Hour Roundup

* Wow. Joe Sestak will announce that he raised more than $1 million this spring, giving him over $4 million for his challenge against Arlen Specter. Sestak brought in that cash without the help of the Dem establishment, of course.

* Markos Moulitsas says Sestak’s cash haul will build real cred for him as a challenger to said Dem establishment.

* Is Lindsey Graham taking his marching orders from Rush Limbaugh on Sotomayor?

* Sarah Palin manages to write an entire piece about energy reform without once mentioning the vaguely related topics of “global warming” and “climate change.”

* Speaking of which, the gang at MSNBC’s First Read points out that cap and trade was strongly embraced by none other than Palin’s running mate.

* John Aravosis says Bill Clinton’s new support for same-sex marriage is a “huge paradigm shift.”

* Ben Smith points out that the group Hillary consulted for her big foreign policy speech includes reps from every recent administration except that of Bush Junior.

* The GOP’s attack on Sonia Sotomayor over her involvement with the Puerto Rican Legal Defense Fund has eerie echoes of Republican criticism of Obama over ACORN.

* And speaking of warmed over attacks on Sotomayor, Sam Stein reports that a conservative group has a new ad out tying her to … Bill Ayers.

I may be alone here, but I believe that Sestack is playing a game of political chicken (aided considerably by the dem est.). In my opinion Sestack was given the green light to explore a Senate run, and is given gobs of money(that can be used on other races btw) all in the name of ensuring that Specter votes ‘correctly’ on major Obama legislation (like health care reform, cap and trade and possibly unions). This way Obama and friends get to support Specter publicly, vowing support in 2010, but keep Sestack in their back pocket in case the former GOPer fails to be a good dem. just my 2 cents.

heather – I sure hope you’re right, cause I’d love to think that Obama is quietly doing things like that to exert his power.

The story about the GOP tying Sotomayor to Ayers – what can you say about this? There’s no logic at all, which is right down the rightwing’s alley. They’re all about false equivalencies, crazed leaps of illogic, and conspiracies these days.

that’s what they get for following Rush down the yellowbrick road.

I am out here in the hinterlands. Can some one explain to me what happened to Patricia Smith’s confirmation to DOL Solicitor? Why has this been stalled so long? I am certain there are a lot of great career people in the Solicitor’s office, but we need more of our people there.

Speaking of global warming and climate change:
