NRSC Statement On Franken Pushes Faked Pic Of Franken In Diapers
As I noted below, the National Republican Senatorial Committee’s new Web ad depicts Al Franken as a raging nut-job — but it actually uses footage of Franken talking about the late Minnesota Senator Paul Wellstone to do it.
Here’s another wrinkle. The statement that NRSC spokesperson Brian Walsh sent me about the ad links to a notoriously debunked fake pic of Franken in diapers.
The link came in this sentence from the NRSC statement making a tongue-in-cheek offer to substitute other photos for the b-roll used in the ad: “We’ll certainly consider substituting it for this one if they would prefer though.” That links to this photo (click to enlarge):
But the thing is, this photo was revealed to have been faked by the Ohio GOP back in 2006. What’s more, as David Kurtz notes, this fact was widely reported yesterday after an Ohio columnist used the faked photo.
The NRSC is defending the link to the faked photo, because it was floated in the Los Angeles Times.
“If there’s a question about the authenticity of the photo, that should be directed to the LA Times,” NRSC spokesperson Walsh emailed me. “It’s clearly a picture that’s received widespread attention in the public domain, though. That being said, we continue to be both amused and grateful that the Democrats are devoting so much time to ensuring widespread publicity of our web video today.”

Here is what they still don’t get. This isn’t the d@mn circus. All news isn’t good news. What a bunch of frikkin losers. And then to defend not vetting the picture they point to the “liberal media” which they claim is unreliable anyway. Talk about passing the buck, no accountability, no awareness. All of the ingredients for the @ss kickings they recieved the last two cycles and they still don’t get it.

Nah. Couldn’t be a frat party because most of those left are chicken hawks too afraid/awkward to high-five let alone give each other wedgies. A new party featuring people who think and use logic would be great. The Whigs are gone, and the Republicans are next.
Even if the picture were real, who cares? The man was a professional comedian. There are plenty of embarrassing clips of St. Ronnie as well – as a Mafia lord slapping Angie Dickenson in “The Killers,” for example.

Too damn pathetic! The RNC bozos can’t even doctor a photo without incriminating one of their own miscreants. What’s next? Franken in an airport bathroom stall?
