An Unlikely Potential Guest At Netroots Nation: Arlen Specter
Okay, so here’s a sign that Arlen Specter may really be sweating the looming challenge from netroots hero Joe Sestak: Specter, a longtime Republican until this year, is considering making an appearance at Netroots Nation next month.
A source sends over the invitation that was issued to both Specter and Sestak for a Netroots Nation “Pennsylvania Leadership Forum” on August 14th, where attendees would take questions from an audience and conduct a question and answer session with moderators.
“We are considering it,” Christopher Nicholas, Specter’s campaign manager, confirmed to me a few moments ago. “Our attendance has not been finalized.”
Nicholas rejected the idea that Specter was considering an appearance out of worry over Sestak — sort of. “We’re taking any and all potential primary opponents seriously,” he said.
Meanwhile, Sestak adviser Joe Langdon says his boss will be there. For Specter to attend Netroots Nation and take questions alongside Sestak would be a real sign of the times and make for some good — and very valuable — political theater. Here’s hoping it happens.

Political theater is one thing – but maybe this will go some way toward keeping Arlen to the left of where he might otherwise be. That would be a good thing.
What Tena said!
Considering that it appears that Specter just helped gut EFCA by allowing ‘card check’ to be removed…I’m quite sure Sestak has a very real chance at toppling him.
And I hope he does. Arlen Specter is, by far, one of the most pathetic human beings in the US Congress. He doens’t deserve to be there.
